Access servers securely over private networks but need better data transfer solutions
Azure Bastion is primarily used to access servers securely without exposing them to the public network. It is configured in a private network to allow accessing an environment without public exposure Azure Bastion eliminates the need for a jump server by providing secure access to servers without…

Remote sessions have become smoother and now resolve end user issues more comfortably
One feedback I have is regarding the voice feature. Whenever we take a remote session, the voice gets enabled automatically, and we have to mute it from our side. A pop-up asking whether we want to continue with the voice or not would be helpful when accessing a remote session. The audio system could be improved because sometimes we are not aware that we need to unmute the team while taking a remote session. The end user can hear us talking with colleagues, and we sometimes forget that we have unmuted while taking a remote session. If a pop-up appears when we take a remote session with the end user asking us to unmute ourselves, that would be better for us to proceed. When the pop-up appears, we can directly mute ourselves, and the end user will not be able to hear the background noise from the office. Since many colleagues are taking remote sessions and talking to end users simultaneously, there is often significant background noise. Having this pop-up appear when accessing a remote session with the end user would be a helpful update.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The connection to virtual machines is very useful."
"Azure Bastion makes it easy to provide quick virtual machine access to our customers."
"Azure Bastion is preferable because you just switch it on and off you go."
"It provides all the security to us. Without getting on the internet, we can access our servers. We can access our desktop through our web browser. We don't need to run the mstsc command and login to the VM. All those things are not required."
"The ability to operate the product with scripting is excellent."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that it is easy to use...It is modernized, so I can create complex infrastructures."
"As an Azure consultant, for me, it is the best way to give the administrator access as you can manage the permission - including who can access Bastion."
"The interface is available in the edit portal."
"The most recent enhancements are quite remarkable."
"What I like about TeamViewer Remote Management is the chat feature on the dashboard, which is very useful. The solution also has a meeting feature, but I don't use that. The remote feature and other features of TeamViewer Remote Management also work fine, so it's a good solution."
"It's stable and reliable."
"The solution is easy to set up."
"The product is secure."
"Transferring files and viewing data work well with TeamViewer Remote Management."
"It's considered a trusted application."
"The most valuable feature is the remote management capabilities."

Cons

"We are not able to copy and paste files directly into the server over the patch host. We have to transfer files over to Azure Storage."
"You are charged for retrieving your own data."
"Azure Bastion does its job. However, it would be nice to have the capability to cut and paste across desktops, similar to old-fashioned Remote Desktop emulation."
"When you have a boot issue on Windows, you cannot use Azure Bastion to fix it. You have to use the Azure console or the VM console, and it is very limited."
"While general support is valuable, having a detailed breakdown of the specific issues would contribute to a more streamlined and efficient resolution process."
"Currently, Azure Bastion does not allow for direct data transfer between desktops. A storage solution must be created to transfer data, and this requires additional permissions like ACL or NFS."
"The protocol speed could be faster."
"There is room for improvement with AI features. I would like to see integrated AI features with Azure Bastion, especially for connectivity issues."
"The audio system could be improved because sometimes we are not aware that we need to unmute the team while taking a remote session."
"One of the defects that I have noticed with TeamViewer Remote Management is that if I am on a certain version and the person to whom I am connected is not on the same version, then it does not connect at times until I update the solution."
"If there were a way for users to do access reporting, that would be an ideal addition to the product."
"The solution’s stability could be improved."
"The security of the solution could be more secure."
"I have contacted customer service and support a couple of times, but it was not good."
"The connectivity could improve."
"I don't like having so many updates."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is a lower decision point than high-quality security for our organization. Better security comes at a cost, but it's worth it, and that's what we tell our customers."
"The tool is cheaply priced. I would say that the product is free to use."
"It does not save money for us."
"Azure Bastion's pricing is good."
"There are no charges to be paid for the solution since I use it for personal use."
"The solution's license is expensive."
"Its price is a little high as compared to other solutions."
"My company uses the free version of TeamViewer Remote Management."
"It is a licensed product."
"I have used the free version of the solution."
"We pay a yearly licensing fee."
"We are now using the free version, but probably next year we are going to follow up with the paid version."
