Visio and Bizagi are prominent tools in the realm of process management and design. Visio seems to have the upper hand due to its integration with Microsoft Office applications and its ease of use, particularly in the flowcharting domain.
Features: Visio offers seamless integration with Microsoft Office, a comprehensive library of templates and shapes, and user-friendly tools for swift flowcharting. On the other hand, Bizagi excels in process automation, BPMN 2.0 compliance, and provides robust modeling and simulation capabilities.
Room for Improvement: Visio could improve by enhancing integration with databases, adding more customization options, and simplifying its interface. Conversely, Bizagi can enhance web-based features, boost performance for large processes, and offer stronger integration with other solutions.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Both Visio and Bizagi provide on-premises and cloud deployment options, with Visio also available in hybrid forms. Visio's technical support is mixed, often highlighting issues with Microsoft support complexity. Bizagi users note occasional lack of advanced support despite a user-friendly interface.
Pricing and ROI: Visio is often considered expensive, with straightforward but costly licensing. In contrast, Bizagi offers a free modeler and delivers cost savings in process modeling, although enterprise automation can be pricey. Both tools provide ROI mainly through time efficiency, with Bizagi seen as having a better value for simpler needs.
The toolset is very intuitive, so we didn’t need to contact their support much.
We cannot expect major customer support.
While I like Microsoft products in general, the main issue is with the licensing options and the problems associated with them.
We generally resolve issues internally within our IT department rather than contacting Microsoft's technical support.
There is no direct scalability option.
If I rate scalability from one to ten, I would probably give it a six.
For more mature environments, the integration to live systems is lacking, which affects its applicability.
Reporting capabilities can be improved more, and community support should be increased.
Visio should implement more complex tools or graphics to facilitate processing and use flexible templates.
The visual icons and shapes for different vendors like Cisco network could be improved.
Bizagi's pricing is very aggressive, and it was one of the reasons we chose it.
If asked to rate the price, I would give it around nine points out of ten, indicating it is somewhat expensive.
It is open source.
Bizagi has rich functionalities; compared to other BPMN tools, it has more features.
The user interface is very good, making it easy for business people to understand.
Visio allows me to create detailed diagrams that provide value to customers by giving them a clear view of their network and devices.
Visio was quite useful in Word and PowerPoint, which I miss in draw.io.

Reviews from Real Users
“Visio has improved my workflow by making it easy to create charts, diagrams, and essential illustrations to use in my client reports and proposals. It has saved me a lot of time I would otherwise spend creating visuals for clients manually.” - Michael B., Principal Consultant at Lexington Consulting
“I use it for diagramming networks, racks, data centers, data flow applications, etc. It is a useful tool to map data flows, network objects, and computer science technology and to show to clients. It does what I need it to do. It's a tool I've used the longest, so I know it the best, and that's probably the claim to fame.” - Greg S., Director of Solution Architecture at Winslow Technology Group
“We use Visio for architecture modeling. We also use it to facilitate communication with other people. The feature I like most about Visio is that it acts as a facilitator of communication, as it displays information in a way that's easier to understand.” - Guy M., IT/Business Architect at a financial services firm
