Effortless network component identification, provides API details, and an easy setup
We need to discover anything in the network and ensure that the discovered data is moved into the CMDB for asset management The best part is that whenever there is an outpost or any particular network, it can identify servers, routers, switches, etc. It immediately understands which component it…

A very strong and powerful tool in the market preferred by a variety of industries
I rate the technical support a seven out of ten. Three levels of support in IBM. The first one is a fixed level, while levels two and three are very good. Here, level one is not very good, as it takes time to go from level one to level two and from level two to level three. So, level one is of low capacity.

Pros

"The initial setup was quite easy."
"The tool's accuracy of the results we receive looks promising in general. Its values are more than 95 percent accurate compared to other clients or different tools. I would say that Discovery offers a valuable mechanism to discover information."
"The speed at which it's able to collect a wide-range of information, then make it useful for you, like asset management, knowledge management, and incident management."
"It is a stable solution. The stability is okay."
"The initial setup is simple."
"It is a scalable solution."
"A valuable feature concerns the ability to integrate with different solutions."
"The most valuable features are the ability to create work orders and preventative maintenance."
"We can manage, organize, and track incidents, claims, jobs, tasks, preventive and corrective maintenance, locations, and assets."
"It is configurable, where you can add extra fields to screens and to the database."
"The most valuable features of IBM Maximo are the overall power and interface, and there are a lot of different modules that we use that are helpful. Additionally, it's an integrated solution and it has a lot of capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is asset management maintenance as well as asset management overall."
"Has a powerful audit combination that helps achieve high accuracy."

Cons

"A review of end of life data would be nice."
"An area that can be improved is the IoT."
"The support from BMC Helix Discovery can improve, it takes a long time before we receive any feedback. It can take days to months sometimes."
"The license model could be more flexible and cheaper pricing."
"Management of its own application infrastructure and integrations with other BMC tools."
"I would like to see the ability to scan some of the newer cloud platforms. I know that BMC has them on the roadmap, and they are coming soon, but they can't come fast enough. Being able to scan more of GCloud, Alibaba Cloud, or whatever the public clouds that our customers are buying, we need to make sure that Discovery can find them as well."
"BMC Helix Discovery is a bit tough to use and administer."
"The monitoring tools could be more stable."
"The interface is not very easy or user-friendly and is in need of improvement."
"It needs full-service visibility. There are a lot of things that are hard for users to find out. For example, the Service Catalog is not too friendly. You really have to know what you're looking for."
"Areas for improvement include: an enhanced Service Catalog on Mobile; Agent intelligence; better dashboards for KPIs."
"Revision management of file attachments."
"This solution could improve by integrating or embedding finances, charts of accounts, and invoicing."
"Coding can be complex when customization is required."
"It's quite reliable, but new versions often are not too stable. They bring in enhancements but they break other stuff."
"I feel that the interface is a little too complicated with a large number of fields to enter."
