Centralized endpoint security has improved and supports hybrid work and BYOD policies
Regarding what I dislike about Microsoft Intune and its downsides, I would say that more Mac controls are needed because we have limited Mac and Linux control. When comparing controls and policies between Windows, Mac, and Linux, Windows has almost everything you can think of, while Mac and Linux have limited types of control. You cannot implement certain things on Mac and Linux that you can on Windows. The limited controls are a major issue. Additionally, if Microsoft could find a way to embed servers into Microsoft Intune, that would be beneficial. Microsoft Intune is not really designed for servers or Windows servers. It is more tailored towards Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. Windows servers are not fully supported. Enterprise organizations usually have both servers and endpoints, which are users' workstations. For servers, most people look for other solutions such as SCCM, which is Configuration Manager. However, SCCM is what Microsoft Intune is trying to replace. Both SCCM and Microsoft Intune belong to Microsoft. Microsoft is trying to transition organizations into Microsoft Intune, the native cloud solution. However, because this update is still in process, servers are not fully compatible with Microsoft Intune and cannot be managed by it. The current policy that has emerged from issues with clients is what they call co-management, which is relatively new, and I do not know if adoption is significant. Many legacy or older customers who have been using these products for decades still have SCCM. When it is time for them to manage their Windows devices, they use what is called cloud attach. Cloud attach is a term whereby your SCCM is connected to your Microsoft Intune. Most people do not know about it, but I have deployed it for several organizations. Cloud attach and co-management work together so that your device is in SCCM, but some policies are pushed from Microsoft Intune. It is like two different solutions working hand in hand. That is what they call co-management. Microsoft Intune does not bring all of your endpoint and security management tools into one place, which is the goal and how it should be. However, as I mentioned, servers are not included. If we talk about end users, Microsoft Intune does bring all your devices together. In a typical enterprise environment, you have end users with workstations, laptops, company-issued phones, and bring your own devices. You can create policies for all of these. However, for the backend, your servers do not have much coverage. Servers are not really covered by Microsoft Intune in that way.

Has improved security and enabled remote work flexibility across teams
The best features Check Point Remote Access VPN offers are its security features, which stand out to me. Whenever we are giving the remote access VPN to any employees or vendors, we can specify and control particular access. If we want to give access to a particular IP only, we can achieve that via this feature, and we also apply security features such as antivirus and anti-spyware while giving access to any employees or partners. The ability to control and specify access with Check Point Remote Access VPN, such as limiting to particular IPs or applying antivirus and anti-spyware, makes our environment safe from cyber threats and any types of malicious activities or accessing our private data. We control this through the feature by applying security policies that allow particular users. After deploying Check Point Remote Access VPN solution, I can say that our productivity has maximized. Users are working from home and even working 24/7. If they want, they can access our resources at any time, providing flexibility to work from anywhere. Employees say that sometimes they are not available during the working hour, but they can work from home at their flexible timing, needing access to our private network resources. They sit at home or any remote site and connect to our network to work, which is very good.

Remote design work has become smoother and adapts intelligently to changing bandwidth
The best features of Rocket Exceed TurboX are that it works reasonably well and is easy to set up. As the admin, I set up the server and tested it with different bandwidths. The solution performs better than VNC, though there is still lag in the one Mbps to four Mbps range. Rocket Exceed TurboX automatically adjusts the resolution according to the program that is running, which is their intellectual property. This intelligent adjustment is a significant advantage compared to VNC, where I had to set it to the lowest setting with poor resolution to achieve acceptable performance.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If you want to manage your mobile devices as well as your Windows 10 devices, Intune is the best option."
"The aspects I find most valuable are the managing the data and applications. I can also restrict the users to install any applications. I can also wipe the data if the phone was missplaced or stolen. These are the basics for me."
"Intune makes our organization more secure and flexible. We can onboard new employees faster and more securely. We are a governmental organization with strict regulations, and Intune helps us comply with those requirements."
"Remote control is the feature I like the most, as I can take control of devices so that we can work hands-on and create access with access restrictions."
"The solution is easy to use and it has good performance."
"Microsoft's licensing is more flexible and adaptive than its competitors."
"I really appreciate the features in Microsoft Intune, including the Intune Suite Cloud PKI."
"Given all of the factors and things to consider, including features and cost, I would say that Intune has a slight edge over competing products."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN is the best available solution in the market for providing endpoint management solutions by ensuring adherence to strict compliance and multiple scanning of the data to ensure no data theft or leakage and security and compliance are maintained at the highest level possible."
"The complexity is hidden within a full mesh network, allowing seamless user-to-application connectivity with minimal delay."
"One feature that is highly valued by our clients in remote access VPN is the IPsec suite. With IPsec, we can encrypt our data, ensuring that no one can perform a man-in-the-middle attack or decrypt the data. It utilizes powerful mathematical calculations and end-to-end encryption, preventing hacking attempts."
"It is easy to install the Endpoint Remote Access VPN client on different platforms."
"Checkpoint is very strong and very reliable."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN has positively impacted my organization by making remote work much smoother because people can connect securely from anywhere, and we've had fewer access issues during busy periods."
"To maintain the authorization of the connected user, Check Point provides multi-factor authentication for an RA VPN client to make sure legitimate users have access to resources."
"It operates effectively, particularly during challenges like adversities or infrastructure issues."
"The best features of Rocket Exceed TurboX are that it works reasonably well and is easy to set up."
"This product is great, it's easy to use and it can solve certain problems our remote users face, as employees in other cities and countries can easily access it and the solution is perfect for Linux users."
"The most helpful feature of OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is that it allows you to consume heavy applications that usually have a lot of latency. I also like that the solution is fast and has a friendly UI."
"The solution is perfect for Linux users."

Cons

"The worst aspect is the reporting."
"The interoperability or communication with a different platform can be better. It is a two-way street. It is not only about Microsoft. The other platforms also have to be willing to share some information, but that absolutely can be improved."
"During the onboarding of Microsoft Intune, we faced the problem that the policies were not getting synced."
"There can be more logs. I do not have any other requirements."
"When somebody has a customized application or their own company's application, we cannot deploy that application."
"When pushing anything from Microsoft Intune, the sync timing is 48 hours. While sometimes it takes 5 to 10 minutes, the official period given by Microsoft is within 48 hours, which can be time-consuming for policies, applications, or patches."
"It should be simplified. I've worked with many different mobile device management solutions, and Intune is one of the more complex ones. It could be more simplified, and some of it is related to the wording that is being used, such as a configuration profile versus a policy. They really should have had different names to make it less confusing."
"Microsoft Intune is not user-friendly to manage and has room for improvement."
"The product’s architecture is a bit distributed."
"The Linux version may have an app (similar to Windows) instead of a shell script."
"We have noted some stability issues."
"Improved scalability would allow the solution to handle larger numbers of users and devices without a significant impact on performance."
"Check Point RA VPN requires companies to take separate licenses initially so that only 5 connected users licenses are given as subscriptions."
"The documentation on how to integrate is out of date, not maintained, and not really supported from Check Point's side."
"You have no ability to reserve a total number of licenses. The VPN user licenses are assigned per gateway, and if you enable MEP function is not so easy to size the gateway licenses."
"The maximum it is giving us is only 5 licenses and if you need more, they must be purchased separately."
"An area for improvement in OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is the installation process because you need some technical knowledge to install it. What's lacking in OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is a help portal for users to ask questions and seek assistance."
"It seems to work better than the original solution, but it still does not meet the standards I wanted."
"We have concerns about network speed and security settings."
"The performance of the graphical interface needs improvement. They should add some CPU to speed graphic acceleration."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's affordable for the protection it gives. There are no additional costs."
"We spend a lot of money on Intune licensing, and some of our users have to be double licensed just because of how our dev and corporate environments are segmented."
"Intune is cost-effective as it is included in some of the Office 365 packages."
"I recently got to know that the AD P1 license is compulsory to use Intune Autopilot, which was surprising for me. Earlier, this was not the case. It is the wrong thing to do. We now need to purchase AD P1 licenses for us and for our customers. I would rate it a seven out of ten for pricing."
"The pricing is good because customers are not complaining about it."
"The pricing needs improvement."
"We use Defender ATP and E5 licenses."
"Intune comes with the licensing that is common for large organizations. However, Microsoft has recently released many add-ons that are very expensive, especially for large organizations or corporations."
"I give the price of the solution a five out of ten."
"The product is expensive. I rate its pricing a ten out of ten. For the cost of one product, we could purchase two or three Fortinet solutions with the same amount of money."
"The solution is pretty expensive. The rating is an eight."
"I can say that the licensing costs are charged annually."
"Organizations that already have the Check Point NGFW need to purchase an additional license to have access to the VPN functionality."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN is not expensive and the cost is annual."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"Regarding pricing, as a global customer, we get a big discount. For us, it's a good return on investment. We need to pay for additional features we want to enable. It seems cheaper than other vendors, but I can't say what it would cost an average customer."
"Pricing for OpenText Exceed TurboX (ETX) is five out of ten. It's not that expensive, and it's not that affordable."
