Cloud gateway has strengthened remote web security and now needs better Mac and ISP support
The problem our organization had is that iboss failed for the Mac devices. It is not able to give a successful agent for the Mac agents. That is where in 2025, we had to migrate to the Palo Alto-based platform. If your use case is for just Windows laptops, you can consider this platform as an option One issue is the data center resiliency part. In India especially, they are not tied up with the Tier 1 ISPs like Tata or Airtel; they were having Tier 2 ISPs and encountered many issues reaching few major sites that my organization depends on, and they were having problems that they could not fix quickly. They also lack a mechanism to route that traffic within their data center; rather, they ask customers to make a pac file change to route it to Singapore explicitly. It would be better if they route from their backend , i mean even if I send it to India DC, they should be able to route it internally to make that work; however, they fail to do that and ask the customer to route it in the pac file. Another suggestion is that in China, they do not have the proper setup; they used to have numerous problems with slowness and lack of premium circuits in China as well. That leads to multiple sites working slowly with latency-related issues. So the main issue is the ISP-related problems that need to be solved.

Supports seamless authentication for users across multiple organizations and personal portals
The features I use in Cisco Duo include Duo Pushes to confirm my identity to the device, and eventually as MFA security was increased, I actually had to use exchange passcodes. Sometimes, I have to go into the site and get into Cisco Duo to retrieve the passcode, and many of them have been two-factor, where the sites send a passcode that I have to enter into Cisco Duo. It has been more of the latter. I have not seen issues with lagging or crashing on Cisco Duo's end; it was usually on the client end, often because someone set up a bad upgrade or there were connection issues with the Cisco Duo cloud through the administrative site.

Great security, helpful for remote teams, and easy to set up
They should improve the latency of the portal. It takes time to enter. Other than that, the tool with us has fulfilled each of the expectations or even more than we had planned. Apart from maintaining an updated database with all the vulnerabilities that exist or that they come out day by day that is a plus since we can trust that we are keeping our information in good hands. It is clear that trends are changing day by day and year by year, and yet Check Point is always one step ahead with its competencies, providing us with the best quality in security. Something that we have noticed in some applications is the need to improve vulnerability reports. Even though they display a lot of information, they should improve it, like, for example, SIEMS. Another point of improvement is to centralize the configuration interfaces into a single pane since sometimes a point is being configured, and you have to move to another point to finish the configuration. That should be within the same administrative panel.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"From a use-case scenario, what I like the most is the plug-in. I like the fact that we can do the filtering of these devices offsite independent of the network they are connected to, and we do not have to have traffic coming back inside our network."
"Its initial setup was straightforward."
"The console is cloud-based, which is something I really appreciate."
"Technical support is pretty sharp and very responsive."
"iboss is definitely very good in terms of service."
"The iboss system is highly reliable. The false positive rates are small compared to some other systems we've experienced through other partner agencies who use competing solutions."
"The security aspect of the solution, particularly the malware behind it, is excellent. That's something that really helped us out. It's not just a simple proxy that just blocks the insights of potential threats that come on behind it. They do malware detection and that helps us a lot."
"Iboss is a solution that prevents advanced persistent threats, and has a zero tolerance for attacks."
"The solution is pretty secure."
"We like the different ways that it allows you to push notifications to people. It can do text, a phone call, and email. We liked the versatility for all of our different end-users, regardless of their level of understanding of the technology."
"Since Duo Security provides a single place to log in for our SaaS applications, we don't have to manage user accounts and remember passwords for each specific application."
"Looking back at my initial investment in Cisco Duo versus the total value it has delivered over time, I see that it has paid more than what we invested, so we are getting a good return and a good service with improved security."
"It meets our security needs very well, it is easy to use, and documentation is also available."
"We get fewer threats to remediate due to the two-factor authentication, which does not allow as many threats through."
"Cisco Duo has strengthened the ability to defend against both phishing and identity-based attacks."
"The ability for users to authenticate via phone, from any random phone number, has been very helpful for managing a distributed workforce. Using it across a distributed network for securing access to our applications is big for us."
"Odo helped us a lot to be able to efficiently, effectively, and robustly have our employees who will work from their homes in times of the pandemic."
"We have access to great functionality while establishing a remote connection."
"The solution is stable and without any issues at this moment."
"The advanced protection, centralized administration, and the ability to have experts hand in hand providing us with good best practice solutions and centralized management have been useful."
"This Odo or Harmony solution has helped us a lot in improving the security for the remote connection to our facilities in corporate."

Cons

"The dashboards for local use could be better."
"I am currently doing a PoC of the zero trust aspect of it. Compared to other similar solutions, it is hard to get around each feature. It takes a while to get used to it."
"One thing I would like to see differently with their Zero Trust platform is that some of the AI aspects related to high-risk activities have more false positives."
"To scale up, a new iboss Node Blade Chassis must be purchased."
"SSL decryption: We had issues with learners using apps instead of using web browsers."
"Sometimes, obviously, there are bugs."
"For zero trust implementation, we encountered complexity issues, especially with a large infrastructure company ExxonMobil."
"The dashboards for local use could be better."
"An improvement for Cisco Duo would be a simplification of the licensing model since it's quite complicated to know what's included or not, especially now as it's part of Cisco Secure User Suite, and there are many modifications happening regarding the licensing."
"Cisco Duo did not help reduce the cost of the overall authentication method that we have in our company; instead, it increased, obviously."
"I believe there are two new features. I am interested in adding auto-admin services and incorporating icons for easier navigation. This could contribute to a new business idea platform. I have seen the features, and they make things easier, resolving issues from before. The platform has been updated, and there's now another link in my platform for media access. When it comes to improvements, the UI can be more user-friendly, and there is room for easier navigation. Perhaps there could be enhancements in customization. I haven't faced issues in storage or backup, but I am open to improvements in customization functionality. It's not my environment, but I see possibilities for improvement in the deployment of funds. The addition of new features is appreciated, and for customization, it could provide more freedom for users."
"The deployment experience was more difficult than we expected because we had some problems with the version of the OS that we have in our servers."
"The customer service is okay. However, the response time could be faster."
"Reducing or eliminating the "telephony credits" system used by Duo would be great."
"I wouldn't mind seeing some options for remembering a device for a short period of time or a specific login, particularly for administrative engineering staff, as we may be logging in to four or five different services."
"I think that the dashboard needs to be improved."
"They should centralize the configuration interfaces into a single pane since sometimes a point is being configured, and you have to move to another point to finish the configuration."
"Scalability is very limited."
"Until now, I have not found anything that I do not like about this service, however, security trends and vulnerabilities will always exist and there should always be new ways to protect the perimeters of our corporate infrastructure."
"Until now, I have not found anything that I do not like about this service, however, security trends and vulnerabilities will always exist and there should always be new ways to protect the perimeters of our corporate infrastructure."
"We'd like this simplified to provide a prompt and efficient installation since, in many cases, the solution or the guides provided by the manufacturer are a bit complex."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is not expensive, and it is also not cheap. iboss is priced right in the sweet spot for the number of features it offers."
"It is expensive compared to one of its competitors."
"We have not priced the solution recently, but they were competitive with other vendors in the past."
"It is probably in line with other solutions, but I do not deal with the financial side."
"We had the cost of purchasing a new appliance along with the implementation and licensing costs. However, the following year, the cost of just licensing was similar to what was paid the previous year for a new appliance along with the implementation and licensing costs."
"The overall pricing for iboss is very competitive and transparent."
"Duo Security's pricing is good, fair, and very comparable to today's market."
"Cisco has the most expensive products because market leaders tend to charge a lot."
"Cisco's licensing is always a bit complicated to understand, but the price is fair. It could be more expensive than others, but the way they integrate everything, it has a fair price."
"Its price is reasonable. It is not highly expensive."
"From a business perspective, it is a little bit costly. The licensing is on a per-user basis."
"I am not aware of the pricing. There are two departments, and I don't have any information about them."
"Price wise, it's not cheap, but it's not expensive at all either. It's in the middle."
"I rate the product pricing a seven out of ten."
