A potential area for improvement is enhancing support for cluster environments and distributed Vaults. Clients in multiple countries that need central access have different challenges that require better solutions from CyberArk. For financial services, CyberArk can improve incident response by ensuring fast support for critical priority tickets to meet compliance requirements. Providing more documentation on CyberArk is recommended for new team members to enhance their troubleshooting capabilities. I understand it's up to the client, but 99% fail to change the demo key, so it's crucial for CyberArk to emphasize changing the key and documenting it as part of the installation process.

Integration helps protect sensitive information effectively and new GUI simplifies setup
Regarding improvements for Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management, there are still some challenges. Purview contains numerous predefined sensitive information types, which sometimes makes it difficult to specify relevance. For example, in the Netherlands, we are not interested in driver licenses from Australia, making separation challenging. Furthermore, the capabilities for exporting large amounts of sensitive information for deeper investigations and reporting should be enhanced. Additional features related to AI tools would be beneficial in the next release. Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management has made progress in providing insights into generative AI tools being used within organizations, but customers need to further track where sensitive information is being used within AI tooling. While they have made a good start, AI is advancing faster than anticipated, creating a gap that needs to be addressed.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The solution is stable and reliable."

"We are able to centrally manage credentials, touch applications, and rotate passwords."
"The password protection itself is the most important feature. It's something we didn't have before."
"Enterprise Password Vault, Privilege Session Manager, and Application Identity Management have been very useful for our client environment."
"CPM helps keep the password policy up to date."
"Technical support has been very responsive in navigating challenges. It is very easy to open a ticket."
"Overall, I would rate it a ten out of ten."
"The integration with other Microsoft solutions is a standout feature of Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management."
"The integration with Azure Identity is a significant advantage, as it allows for seamless automation and power app integration."
"The integration with Azure Identity is a significant advantage, as it allows for seamless automation and power app integration."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management is easy to understand, particularly its menu."

"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management is easy to understand, particularly its menu."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management definitely has a good amount of value for me because I associate it in a way that if someone wants to try to do something, they have to get approval."

Cons

"Improvements in CyberArk Privileged Access Manager should focus on simplifying installation and upgrade times, and also consider making professional services training more accessible to implementers and partners."
"Performance of PIM could be better and intended for usability as well as security."
"In CyberArk Privileged Access Manager, the UI has room for improvement, as does the dashboard reporting, which could be made better or easier to use."
"Based on the user experience that I see on a day-to-day basis, some changes could be made to the Privileged Session Manager tool to make it more user-friendly. The user interface of that tool could be more advanced and understandable to laymen, rather than being more of a developer tool."
"CyberArk PAM is a very broad product as everyone's requirements for implementation are different. In our particular case, the initial implementation was planned and developed by people who didn't know our specific network requirements, so the initial implementation needed to be tweaked over time. While this is normal, at the time all these "major" changes required CyberArk professional services to come in-plant and "assist" with the changes."
"More additional features as far as the REST is concerned, because we have something which was the predecessor to REST. A lot of the features which were in the predecessor have not necessarily been ported over to REST yet."
"The continuous scanning of the assets is limited to Windows and Unix. We like to have the solution scan any databases, network devices, and security devices for privileged accounts. That would be very helpful."
"The challenge with the product is pricing since it's expensive. It also needs to improve the customization. We encountered some stability issues as well."
"There's room for improvement in Microsoft's documentation, as it often lacks clarity."
"Sometimes, its functions, like XLOOKUP in Microsoft Excel, do not find situations properly, especially without the use of pivot tables."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management could improve integration with multiple cloud environments."
"I do not see any financial benefit after implementing Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management, however, this question would be better answered by my manager."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management could improve integration with multiple cloud environments."
"Microsoft Purview Privileged Access Management has made progress in providing insights into generative AI tools being used within organizations, but customers need to further track where sensitive information is being used within AI tooling."
"The Just-in-Time access feature has not really helped me a lot more with managing privileged access."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"They have two types of licensing: purchase and subscription. You have to pay for each admin user, such as Microsoft admin, mail admin, database admin, etc."
"Pricing and licensing depend on the environment."
"The solution is very expensive and requires a license. We pay for an enterprise license."
"There are additional features added to our CyberArk Privileged Access Manager license. For example, features that allow us to integrate into various kinds of platforms."
"The cost is high compared to other products."
"CyberArk is one of the best PAM solutions and one of the most expensive, but it works better than the others, so the pricing is fair."
"Cost efficiency is the number one thing that can be improved in my mind. This would change lots of companies minds on purchasing the product."
"I believe that this solution is priced well. It's the market leader and I think that it's the best solution."
