Offers a user-friendly interface and saves costs in data centers
Dell PowerEdge FX is very good and user-friendly, with a console that is easy to manage, and it is budget-friendly compared to other products. Dell PowerEdge FX has made management very good and easy for us, and we have created virtual machines on these PowerEdge servers as well. The modular design of Dell PowerEdge FX is very beneficial for our IT operations because it is small and compact, fitting easily into our data center rack while saving physical space and power. They have a capable technical support team that helps to resolve issues, and their regular updates to hardware components and communication keep us up to date with challenges. Dell PowerEdge FX has some features that we noticed for supporting AI initiatives or data-intensive applications, but we are planning to explore all the features in depth.

High availability servers have boosted hosted payment services but still need better local support
We are not using PowerVM because of certain limitations; it is on a back-end engine. However, we are using other components such as vSphere for some small interfaces, and those are the main components we are utilizing. Since these servers are fully dedicated to various high-end solutions, they have some embedded features that their kernel and applications are using, which are bound to that functionality. We may not provide an exact assessment on its usage, but we are considering those products for some AI solutions; however, we are currently in the review stage and have not concluded our evaluation on how those are utilized yet. We are aware of the pricing of HPE ProLiant DL servers, but not off the cuff. We have obviously acquired those solutions ex-Pakistan, so they are on the rise, and while we do not remember those prices offhand, they are generally better than the IBM series, although they are becoming slightly pricey in Pakistan due to processor shortages and demand. Improvements could be made in database engine hosting services because, as it stands, the pricing of Oracle is too high from both the service and software solution perspectives. If pricing can be reduced, especially for DB servers, that could have a direct positive impact on the overall solution. Regarding reliability, it has been satisfactory so far, but since the distributors are not physically present in Pakistan, that creates a risk for long-term large customers. They provide import-based services, necessitating us to over-invest in backup stock and offline servers. If there was a market presence from those players in Pakistan, it could benefit both clients and distributors by reducing the need for investment in backup inventory.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product seamlessly integrates with the storage portfolio."
"The product's initial setup phase was simple and easy."
"The best feature is PowerEdge's ability to stack up eight blade servers in one 2U chassis."
"The power efficiency is very good and nice."
"It's a stable and scalable solution our customers can rely on for their applications, especially physical applications."
"Once we virtualize the infrastructure, it is very easy to upgrade."
"The most valuable feature is its stability."
"Stability is one of the best features of this solution."
"It's easy to set up for the whole firm."
"The robustness of the design of the server is the most valuable. HP servers are easy to use and user-friendly. The server is not complicated, and it is easy to use ILO systems."
"The pricing is reasonable; we pay approximately 30 to 35K, which is cheap."
"It's very useful; it's easy to upgrade, and it is very easy to take care of the firmware upgrades."
"HPE service in Taiwan is quick and professional, and ProLiant is cost-effective compared to Dell. Dell is good for one or two servers, but HPE is cheaper than Dell for a large deployment. Cost is the most important thing in the market."
"We are really happy with HP ProLiant Servers; they are stable and reliable with no bugs or glitches."
"The solution has always been very stable and reliable."
"The best feature in the product is that it's expandable, which is why I appreciate this product."

Cons

"I don't have any technical issues, but I would like to see the commercial side improve as compared to all other OEMs."
"I rate Dell support six out of 10. It varies. Sometimes it's good. Sometimes it's bad. The response time could be better."
"They could improve from a manufacturing perspective and not the product itself."
"I think that Dell has full documentation on their products, but it needs to be improved for this one."
"The system is good, but compared to open-source and assembled servers, it is somewhat costly."
"I would prefer the next releases of Dell PowerEdge FX to be easier to use and flexible to upgrade. Sometimes, we have to do the tasks manually, but automation would be very helpful."
"When it comes to Dell PowerEdge FX, the area of concern revolves around the delivery time where improvements are required."
"The positioning of the power supply is not ideal. Both of them are on the same side, so you need to untie the cabling when you're installing the server. Another thing is storage separation. The storage can only be used by a particular server blade. I want the ability to use a storage unit for more than one server."
"I also think that there's an issue with the Smart Array firmware, which is the RAID controller."
"The price of this solution should be lowered to make it more competitive."
"It is too expensive. Its price should be improved. The system admin interface should have better visibility while troubleshooting a problem, even when the problem is coming from the application."
"We'd like to have a management platform that's not limited and that would give us a single view of all our systems."
"I think that the main area of improvement would be in the price."
"I think the speed could be improved with OneView. At the moment, OpenManage is faster and has a better interface than HPE."
"I'm not a fan of their rails. I hate how those things rack, as they're just not nice."
"The price of HPE ProLiant DL Servers is reasonable, but because of covid and other factors, the price could be reduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product price a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price, and ten is a low price."

"Compared to other brands, this solution is the cheapest. I would rate the pricing as a five out of five."
"The price of Dell PowerEdge FX is affordable, and when compared to other solutions, such as Lenovo and HPE it is less expensive. There are any extra costs other than the standard solution."

"The price of the license is expensive."
"The hardware should be cheaper."
"The pricing of these servers is fair. It is in the mid-range."

"The price of HPE ProLiant DL Servers is reasonable compared to other solutions."
"I rate the product price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."
