Have improved workflow efficiency through custom reports but encountered formatting limitations
The downsides of Domo are that we don't have a feature in the same column. When data comes in a time format, text format, and number format, we cannot segregate and create conditional formatting in that column. If in the future they develop this feature, it will benefit more users. Domo requires maintenance on my end, such as updates. I am maintaining some dashboards on a weekly basis and monthly basis daily reports. Because we need to upload in SFTP, we cannot schedule or auto-schedule due to rate purposes. We manually handle the data sets. If there were an option to reduce the cost, it would be easier to access.

It would be better if more resources were available to help us learn how to use it. I wanted to use Knowage for a more extended period, but learning materials around the product were not really available and were not really straightforward. I've also seen inconsistencies between versions. For example, under the tools, especially in the cockpit, the way you create reports is now different. You will also find some configurations within a particular state, like a line chart, which differs from version to version. I think consistency is an essential feature in a product, especially for business intelligence products.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If you've actually lived the "Domo life," it's hard to get along with anything else after that."
"If I had to choose something of value, I suppose I would have to say it's the ease of making graphs."
"It has the best GUI. And it already has an ETL tool embedded in it..."
"The best improvement is the data availability; for an organization that has over 12,000 users, having data on the cloud for anyone, anytime, to see their live stats is really different."
"What I appreciate most about Domo is that it's the simplest visualization tool, not complex at all, and it has a very simple interface making it easier for teams to adopt."
"The ease of graphing is a great feature, as it takes the pivot out of pivot tables because once the parameters are set up, the same graphs will continue to be populated based on the new information so there is no need to keep creating graphs."
"Domo is a great help to our organization because, prior to Domo, we were using an Excel base, but as we shifted to Domo, most of our reports were automated and displayed real-time for our end users, saving a lot of time and cost and allowing us to focus on our core functions."
"The most ideal aspect about using Domo is it can accommodate a huge amount of data, and we loved the number of sources it provides in a single platform, such as the capability to connect it."
"The concept of engines is quite powerful allowing the user to work with report authoring/provisioning tools of their choice."
"We can easily do our own customizations."
"SpagoBI makes delivering reports to our clients very easy."
"Customer Service: Excellent."
"The embedding feature is great."
"Nice features available in SpagoBI compared with other open-source BI are Auditing, Collaborative BI, Query By Example, and User Profiling."
"The most valuable feature of SpagoBI is that it is open source and 100% free without limits."
"It improves sales and products, which motivates employees."

Cons

"The UI has issues with some browsers and small glitches that hinder performance or functionality."
"Domo as a solution can be improved in various ways."
"It is very difficult too, if we do have specific requests or errors that we can't get figure out - especially when it comes to the development platform, developing custom connectors or doing any kind of API work, custom cards - in that there's a lag in the response time."
"The utilization part: We cannot play much with the UX/UI. While they have APIs, they kept on failing if the data volume was too large."
"Data integration is okay, but not the best."
"The preconfigured apps need to be more relevant to allow one, out of the box, to load data in order to use pre-set reports/views."
"However, this product has not been tested on a robust enterprise-scale application where we handle billions and billions of records, so this is where we see the application breathing out a bit."
"Significantly negative. It is a very expensive product with a lot of problems and limitations. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid it."
"Yes, using Mobile and Desktop Editions, we would sometimes need to restart the service."
"The dashboard components could be better. They could do a lot more."
"Development of SpagoBI has now been moved to Knowage. Users interested in further developments of the platform will have to look there."
"The demands of some jobs would slow Spago and lock the site, preventing any other job from processing."
"We are not happy with the poor graphic user interface. It looks a bit old and sometimes it is not properly user friendly."
"Tomcat configuration was tricky in earlier versions."
"As all software and especially the open-source ones have always something that can work better, in this case, SpagoBI is slightly difficult to implement."
"The support is very meager: We had to break our heads to figure out everything"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price that they offered was around $200 per user license. It was pretty cheap at that time compared to other companies. I think they have revamped their pricing structure since then."
"I believe that the investment in Domo was worthwhile because it allowed for the organization to jump in quickly, with little training. There are different plans available based on the requirements."
"No matter if you're a developer or an end-user, the licensing cost is around $12 per user per month."
"It is on the pricier end."
"They've built an "app economy." Some of them are really expensive, so they're not for startups and smaller companies. They're more like enterprise tools. We couldn't afford some of them, because they were so crazy expensive. But if I was working for a bank, insurance company, or some bigger corporation then, for sure, you could justify those prices... It was silly expensive back then and it probably still is, or even more expensive."
"Domo has more than one licensing model. You can choose between the yearly subscription and the per-user licensing model. The tool is flexible in terms of licensing. As for the cost, Domo is an end-to-end BI tool so its pricing is a little higher than other players in the market, for example, non end-to-end BI tools such as OBIEE and Tableau specific only for business intelligence and presenting data to the end users, unlike Domo which handles everything. You want to get Domo as an integration tool, an ETL tool, etc. As the tool is end-to-end, its cost is always going to be a little higher than other BI tools, but it's worth paying because you won't have to spend extra for other activities. After all, Domo can do those activities."
"I'm not sure about pricing, but I believe Domo is quite costly. Prior to joining this organization, I had a Domo license with my former employer and I think that license was around $500 to $600 annually. That was for a single license. I think it varies, depending on the organization that is acquiring Domo."
"I think it is reasonable."
"Knowage is open-source, and an enterprise edition is also available."
"It allows the implementation of an effective reporting system using internal skills at a limited upfront cost."
