Druva inSync and Veeam Data Platform are notable contenders in the cloud-based and on-premises backup solutions category. Druva stands out with its comprehensive security features and efficient bandwidth usage, while Veeam provides superior integration and instant recovery capabilities, particularly excelling in handling VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix environments.
Features: Druva inSync offers geo-location and geo-wipeout features, security compliances, and ransomware scanning. It efficiently utilizes bandwidth and provides a smooth restoration process. Veeam Data Platform is known for its robust backup and replication features, instant VM recovery, and seamless integration with major storage solutions. It supports environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix.
Room for Improvement: Druva inSync needs better pricing, enhanced performance during backups, and improved patch stability. It also lacks on-premise backup features and multi-tenant Office 365 management. Veeam Data Platform could be better with advanced cloud integration, support for physical servers backup, and reduced licensing costs. Users desire improved database integration and enhanced recovery speed.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Druva inSync is cloud-based, allowing quick deployment, though additional storage may be required; customer service is well-regarded but may experience delays. Veeam Data Platform supports on-premises, hybrid, and private cloud deployments but can be complex due to multiple components. Customer support is generally positive, but technical support response times could be improved.
Pricing and ROI: Druva inSync's pricing is high but offers ROI through efficient data management and cost reduction, with clear pricing benefiting some users. Veeam Data Platform is cost-effective compared to competitors, offering flexible licensing and significant savings, especially for long-term investments, though additional features can increase costs.
The organization has experienced ROI from Druva inSync through bandwidth saving, storage, and manpower optimization.
I have seen a return on investment as it saves time and money by preventing us from being in a disaster situation.
The technical support from Druva inSync deserves a rating of 10.
The escalation from first, second to third tier is sometimes very long-lasting, but the resolve rate is quite high.
I would rate their technical support a 10 out of 10.
Most cases are handled perfectly.
The scalability of Druva inSync deserves a rating of 10.
It involves acquiring additional licenses as needed.
I would rate the scalability part of Veeam Data Platform 10 out of 10 because we have the ability to scale out the product at any time with scale-out backup repositories and can add licenses as needed.
In order to scale Veeam Data Platform, we have to pay a lot more money.
There are no issues with stability in Veeam Data Platform.
I can say the stability of Veeam Data Platform is almost 8 to 9, as the cluster functionality was not there in earlier platforms such as version 12, but is provided in version 13.
To make Druva inSync better, they can implement additional DLP.
In the next release, I would like to see additional features and functionalities that focus more on AI functionality, similar to what other vendors offer.
Compared to IBM, Veeam Data Platform is simpler but brings some challenges with automation in backup and Oracle backup configuration.
The improvement we would like to see is the option to scale Veeam Data up in smaller sections rather than large sections, which requires paying much more.
Reducing it by 20% would make it more accessible to a broader range of customers.
From my perspective, Druva inSync is reasonably priced.
I don't consider the price expensive given its importance.
A reduction of 20% in the current cost would make the solution more attractive to clients.
Veeam Data Platform is more expensive than OpenStack because we pay for it in US dollars, while we pay for OpenStack in Egyptian pounds.
The solution provides significant ROI through bandwidth saving, storage, and manpower optimization.
The most important aspect of this platform is data security with immutable data in the storage.
The backup for specific disks feature has helped me by allowing us to take backups specifically for data we need, rather than for the whole server as a single disk, such as just backing up the root disk.
The platform is user-friendly, comprehensive, and compatible with numerous market solutions, including virtualization and bare metal servers.
