Helps us provide visibility into network performance, capacity planning, and cost analysis
Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessible and open information.

Offers reliability and helps with the virtualization part
The product integrates with our company's existing IT infrastructure, especially when it comes to MicroK8s and other on-premises servers. The tool also helps with the virtualization in the ecosystem of our company, where there are other tools from HPE. Performance and network optimization are some of the beneficial areas in terms of server management. Speaking about how the remote management ability of the product impacted our company's IT operations, I would say that my organization has dealt with areas like RDP, DDI, and DMC, depending on the requirements of our final customers. In my experience, the product has contributed four hours in terms of reliability and to ensure the uptime of our servers. When it comes to the day-to-day use of HPE System Management's interface, I would say that it connects with some of the best tools and Hyper-V console with the help of Microsoft. I recommended the solution to those who plan to use it. I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This product helps our organization by providing a shared model to the customer which reduces the cost for humans and infrastructure via the multi-tenancy feature."
"No technology is perfect, but CA is doing a really wonderful job of providing products that are reliable, scalable, and dependable to entities all over the world."
"There really is no perfect monitoring tool, CA UIM is really the best of breed if you need monitoring for all Operating Systems and a large list of diverse applications."
"We have it integrated with Salesforce, so it’s great for auto creating, sending data to Salesforce and creating cases, proactively monitoring our customers' systems."
"Great out-of-the-box capability."
"Another division handed us the opportunity to monitor their solutions as written, and UIM was very useful for that."
"We managed to convince our client to use CA UIM as it individually ensures monitoring of all the aspects of an application, be it processes, event logs, URLs, ping availability, server response time, log monitoring, database monitoring, clusters, and what not."
"I would definitely recommend the concept if it is something you are looking for."
"This is a good product and I recommend it."
"The managing and monitoring are the solution's most valuable features, and they are something I find quite helpful in my work."
"I think it's stable and flexible, and it's secure too."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy with the help of the framework consisting of Microsoft Azure."
"Overall as a management tool to see a complete overview of the entire HP hardware infrastructure, this is an excellent tool."
"The most valuable feature is the dashboard, which allows us to manage the entire infrastructure from the console."
"The interface is in continuous development and improves version by version."
"It is a smart system management tool that enables businesses to manage their operations more effectively."

Cons

"I think it can be improved by a greater provision of specialized technical support, as there are very few trained personnel there."
"The main complaint with the tool is we are attempting to migrate off of SCOM and the management packs that SCOM has for Exchange (ED and SharePoint) it does not look like UIM and can't necessarily compete with those."
"Support from the vendor has generally been rather slow and ineffective, at least in our case."
"Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly."
"Usually it's reliability issues. Some of the components don't always function as intended, or don't function as you would think they should."
"The biggest, most annoying problem, if you will, is the ISE that's embedded in UIM."
"The initial setup was frustrating."
"It needs to be easier to implement because right now it requires consultants to help with that."
"Good system management is costly."
"Our customers would like to see the price lowered."
"If the solution could provide better integration to make it easier to manage everything on different servers, that would be helpful. Whatever servers a company has, be it IBM, Dell, etc., if the System Management could be a platform that links all of them together, it would make management across different server types easier."
"The product should increase the processing capacity and allow speedy deployment, as both of them are areas with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"The return on investment report is too difficult to understand."
"I think that support integration could be improved."
"The agents don't always connect and communicate very well with the server."
"The quality of service and support for this solution needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
"This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
"Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
"Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
"The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
"CAD $400,000 annually."
"The support is yearly-based and the license is permanent."
"The license was included when we purchased the server."
"The price of this product is fair."
"My company has invested 30,00,000 USD in the product."
