Offers unique object identification, ideal for UI layer regression automation but limited scalability
Performance is one key area for improvement. It can be slower compared to other tools I've used. Secondly, we have a very limited resource pool that uses this tool in India. So, finding resources familiar with Eggplant in India is challenging due to lack of affiliation programs and so on.

The solution's most valuable features are the drag-and-drop feature, keyword-driven approach, and reusability of the scripts. The solution has introduced a new feature that helps us identify objects we cannot normally identify. It gives you a fair idea of objects, resolving the object recognition issue. The solution can be used to perform different tests on different machines.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's been a revelation to us in terms of its ability to assist us in exploratory testing and to integrate with our current model-driven architecture."
"Customer Service: Excellent and very personal."
"It is not a conventional test automation tool. It uses optical character recognition (OCR) to identify objects. It makes it the best in the class."
"We don't have a big team of people that can watch the dials and check that everything is okay. We're doing a lot of the monitoring of our website and our product at the side of the desk. We need a solution that does a lot for us, and that's what Eggplant does."
"We find the solution stable and scalable."
"We've been really fortunate in that we've had virtually zero downtime in all the time we've been using Eggplant."
"For us, the automated test farm of 20 virtual machines for execution, 20 TestComplete licenses and 20 automated testers are doing the job of 100 manual testers."
"TestComplete has strong reporting capabilities. The reports they generate are really good."
"TestComplete fits almost almost perfectly with a large amount of stacks, such as Delphi, C#, Java and web applications, making it an amazing feature for companies that want to automate UI tests on each application built in-house."
"TestComplete is much more flexible, light, and easy to use."
"Runs in different remote machines. We have multiple versions of the software being tested."
"Using TestComplete I was able to immediately (after installation) begin coding regression tests for available functionality."
"It's a great tool that covers many features and is straightforward with logs."
"Selenium integration."

Cons

"I'd like to see the ability to integrate the user experience through device forms like AWS device forms or source labs."
"I'd like to see the ability to integrate the user experience through device forms like AWS device forms or source labs."
"Performance is one key area for improvement. It can be slower compared to other tools I've used."
"Bugs occur fairly frequently, but they are very responsive in identifying them and scheduling them for fixes in future releases."
"One area I can think of to improve is the usability of the reports that we get."
"Sometimes, TestComplete crashes when attempting to delete over 10 logs."
"It seems to crash once every two to three months."
"I would like to see improved language support, with Python being my first choice."
"The solution needs more training manuals or some form of online forum for learning. It needs more documentation."
"The pricing is the constraint."
"It is expensive, and it is difficult to acquire living in Brazil. They should facilitate this."
"A major part of the product that needs improvement is the licenser."
"The initial deployment of TestComplete was difficult, but with the assistance of SmartBear technical support, I was able to get it up and running."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is competitive in India."
"Eggplant came out as the most competitive in terms of commercials (terms and conditions) which was positive. When we did the initial negotiations, Eggplant started at a price but they were open to negotiations and we did negotiate a discount. That was really important to us because it showed a level of commitment to us."
"The license price for a physical machine is cheap, and for virtual machine, it is very expensive."
"The solution's pricing is too high."
"Our ROI is about $10,000 a year."
"My advice so far, is that while it’s not quite as powerful and easy to use as UFT, its price tag more than makes up for it."
"The price of SmartBear TestComplete could be less. The main challenge is when it comes to node-locked. They should use a subscription model, such as a monthly-based subscription or, a quarterly-based subscription. Their floating license is very expensive, and this high price should be reduced or provide, at a minimum, a subscription model."
"Buy modules on demand. If you have a four-person team and they will each automate tests only 25% of the time, it's better to buy a floating licence and share the tool during the work day."
"The option we chose was around $2,000 USD."
"It comes with a high cost."
