Has provided powerful customization for unique monitoring needs but needs more out-of-the-box capabilities
In my opinion, the best features of Elastic Observability are their flexibility to integrate with other existing systems and the ability to build a unified monitoring tool that can integrate with existing ones and end-to-end user journeys which require a lot of customizations. The greatest feature in Elastic is the ability to customize. This is similar to my comments about customizable dashboards in Elastic because it's visible to the analyst. However, it's very great. Customizing these dashboards can meet the customer's specific use cases and specific stories that they have in their environment, their special environment that doesn't look like other environments. The dashboarding in Elastic is highly customizable to the level of logos. If the customer wants his company logo in the dashboard, it can be done.

Provides you with powerful analysis of your network and business infrastructure
There are instances of imitation, like with processors. As customers, we aim to develop this area, particularly focusing on the networking facility and connectivity. The challenge lies in the connection between the DC and MDR, which is quite distant. The link between them needs to be reliable. When direct fiber isn't available, they resort to using dark fiber, which can lead to some limitations. This situation presents another layer of complexity, requiring approximately 11 feet of additional infrastructure. This is essential for ensuring that applications have minimal latency. In the event of any issues, an account is set up for cache memory to ensure that the system remains operational and can recover data from the cache as needed. Additionally, I have a secondary aspect to consider.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Elastic APM has plenty of features, such as the Elastic server for Kibana and many additional plugins. It's a comprehensive tool when used as a logging platform."
"The solution is open-source and helps with back-end logging. It is also easy to handle."
"The Elastic User Interface framework lets us do custom development when needed. You need to have some Javascript knowledge. We need that knowledge to develop new custom tests."
"All the features that we use, such as monitoring, dashboarding, reporting, the possibility of alerting, and the way we index the data, are important."
"It is very stable, and I would rate it ten out of ten based on my interaction with it."
"The most valuable feature of Elastic Observability is the text search."
"It's easy to deploy, and it's very flexible."
"It is a powerful tool that allows users to collect and transform logs as needed, enabling flexible visualization and analysis."
"The availability of the solution is its most valuable aspect. I can also Google anything I want and upload it on the cloud. I can do that using the mobile app. It is very helpful."
"ORUEI lets you create a dashboard that shows you insight into the user experience."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to Drill down to webpage actions."
"The availability of the solution is its most valuable aspect, and I can also Google anything I want and upload it on the cloud using the very helpful mobile app."
"The customers requires redundancy work to achieve a 99.999% uptime. To accomplish this, we installed this solution into storage. This setup ensures that if one node goes down, the system remains operational through another node. So that's the core aspect of the setup. Additionally, the schedule and the rental database run on servers, and behind these servers, we have storage. This storage operates as a single storage cluster, although there might be another storage option that costs around $30."
"Before RUEI came in, the users from production took hours to resolve issues, or couldn't end up finding a root cause."
"Even if you don't have a QA tool, you can automate a lot of the quality assurance functions through ORUEI."
"Customer satisfaction higher than before."

Cons

"If we had some pre-defined templates for observability that we could start using right away after deploying it – instead of having to build or to change some of the dashboards – that would be helpful."
"Elastic Observability is an excellent product for monitoring and visibility, but it lacks predictive analytics."
"Elastic APM's visualization is not that great compared to other tools. It's number of metrics is very low."
"Improving code insight related to infrastructure and network, particularly focusing on aspects such as firewalls, switches, routers, and testing would be beneficial."
"More web features could be added to the product."
"In the future, Elastic APM needs a portfolio iTool. They can provide an easy way to develop the custom UI for Kibana."
"The solution would be better if it was capable of more automation, especially in a monitoring capacity or for the response to abnormalities."
"I am familiar with Azure Monitor, which I find more user-friendly compared to Elastic, which is a very technical tool."

"Currently, it monitors web applications well, but ORUEI doesn't monitor mobile applications yet. It would be nice if they also added the ability to monitor mobile apps."
"It would be nice if the solution could be integrated with Outlook. If I'm signing any quotation, any proposal, or any of my communications, I should be able to update that Oracle application as well."
"It is a bit complex for newbie."
"The application resource usage has increased due to using RUEI."

"Licensing is very expensive for this solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is not that cheap."
"There are two types: cloud and SaaS. They charge based on data ingestion, ingest rate, hard retention, and warm retention. I believe it costs around $25,000 annually to ingest 30GB of data daily. That is the SaaS version. There is also a self-managed license where the customer manages their own infrastructure on-prem. In such cases, there are three license tiers that respectively cost $5,000 annually per node, $7,000 per node, and $12,500 per node."
"So far, there are just the standard licensing fees. Several of the components are embedded in the license or are even open source. They're even free depending on what you use, which makes it even more appealing to someone that is discussing pricing of the solution."
"Users have to pay for some features, like the alerts on different channels, because they are unavailable in different source versions."
"We have been using the open-source version."
"Elastic Observability's pricing could be better for small-scale users."
"One needs to pay for the licenses, and it is an annual subscription model right now."
"Since we are a huge company, Elastic Observability is an affordable solution for us."
