Senior Law Enforcement Executive at a comms service provider with 201-500 employees
Offers inventory management, basic ERP functions but outdated interface
The interface looks a bit outdated. Epicor acquired iScala, which was originally developed in Sweden. I'm unsure if their intention is to eventually replace iScala with their primary Epicor ERP or continue developing iScala. Initially, it seemed they might replace it, but it appears iScala will remain a separate product.

Integrated workflows have streamlined hiring, purchasing, and daily operations across departments
Areas of SAP S_4HANA that could be improved or enhanced include the evolving aspects of the application over time. There are other SAP applications such as SuccessFactors and Ariba that integrate with SAP S_4HANA. In recent years, SAP introduced an addition called RISE with SAP, which allows companies to use cloud solutions instead of requiring their own premises hardware. SAP partners with cloud providers such as Azure, Amazon, and Google, assisting companies in migrating from hardware to cloud solutions. A challenge that arises is the lack of immediate expertise when raising tickets for problem resolution with SAP, leading to delays. We have asked SAP to improve this area to provide users with better benefits from the cloud solution, as we encounter this issue frequently.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The accounting, purchasing, and basic ERP functions work well. But they are a little bit older, but they work for us. The inventory management is good and necessary for any company that manages stock for production or services."
"We are able to get all our processes flowing together, and we are able to make all of our business processes talk to each other."
"Because I'm a procure-to-pay consultant, I mostly look at that angle, and I have a bit of experience with sales and distribution. I also like the integration between S/4HANA and other ERPs because S/4HANA is a suite. For example, the integration between S/4HANA and EWM Transportation Management, and Ariba."
"I have no issues with the stability of the product, as everything seems to be fine."
"SAP has many functionalities and a high level of detail so that you can manage all processes in detail without any issues."
"SAP S4HANA is a robust solution."
"Our customers use the solution mainly for their business uses like HR operations."
"I would recommend SAP S4HANA because it is a known solution that is stable and widely used by customers, thus making it reliable."
"SAP S/4HANA is the preferred database because of its scalability, faster accessibility, compatibility, and other well-suited features for large data sets."

Cons

"We're facing challenges with iScala in the public sector, specifically healthcare. The system doesn't have sufficient support for the complexities of managing payments for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff."
"It would be very good to merge the SuccessFactors or other solutions with S/4HANA to make it one suite. They could have a single dashboard for all types of products. I have many embedded solutions."
"The solution could have a better user experience."
"The cost is quite expensive, and some people notice this compared to other solutions."
"SAP S/4HANA needs to bring a feature that allows a great quantity of data compression"
"With the public cloud, now everything is being pushed into BTP. This has created challenges, as it requires us to redo our coding and development."
"When we want to raise a ticket on the SAP portal, the process takes a longer time, and there are many selections that confuse the user."
"The migration from previous versions to SAP S/4HANA is a challenge both for customers and clients; there should be simpler ways to incorporate the new tools into a process framework."
"I would like to see the AI included to help from a data standpoint."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to local ERP solutions, it's on the higher side."
"Available at a high price"
"I would rate the pricing at around six to nine out of ten depending on the edition and deployment type."
"SAP is a costly product in terms of maintenance for an organization who has reached a particular level."
"The product is expensive"
"I don't think any company would find the product expensive"
"The pricing is a five out of ten, with ten being expensive and one being cheap."
"It is very expensive. It is not cheap."
"We pay for an annual license."
