Cloud logs have supported long-term auditing but security vulnerabilities still raise concerns
It depends on the user. When he needs maybe data retention for one year, for three months or more, I recommend Fortinet FortiGate Cloud. If he doesn't want to set the log on FortiAnalyzer, I will recommend him with Fortinet FortiGate Cloud. It depends. As I mentioned before, if they don't have a syslog server or any other SIEM, I will recommend it. If they need an audit for one year of data retention, I will recommend it because it's worth the money for one year of log retention. It's straightforward. If I enable Fortinet FortiGate Cloud feature on the FortiGate on-premise or VM, it will copy the configuration on the cloud. Depending on my license, I can configure it or have it as read-only with a limited license. That's one of the main purposes of Fortinet FortiGate Cloud for me. The report doesn't have many templates, but the log retention is so good with one-year retention. If you compare it with the FortiAnalyzer or maybe with any other product such as a FortiSIEM template, with the limited license, you only get the 360 template, it's called. I think the security function, I mainly use it for configuration purposes and log retention purposes. The security is the same as the VM or the hardware, I think. The sandbox. I think it has it, but not a lot if you only have the default capability with only 10 files per minute. I think the user needs to be selective with the files that they want to send to the sandbox on the cloud.

Migration streamlines processes while real-time monitoring opportunities remain
The migration feature of vCenter Configuration Manager is the most loved feature so far. This particular feature is valuable because it is vendor-oriented and works with VMware, which makes your life easy. Regarding system reliability, it is helpful. When you design it for the process, it will help you minimize the downtime, and it will help the reliability of the system. vCenter Configuration Manager has impacted my organization positively, but it's not fully deployed yet; we only use it for one or two tasks, and our team goes back to using the vCenter itself. However, further on, maybe we'll find a use case that will help us use the configuration manager.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's most valuable feature is log reporting. It has a wide range of products for small, medium, and enterprise customers. The tool is very user-friendly and straightforward, which sets them apart from other vendors. It also has good integration with other solutions."
"FortiGate Cloud's most valuable feature is that it's 100% managed."
"The IPS and firewall function is valuable in Fortinet FortiGate Cloud."
"The cost is reasonable if you compare it to maybe a SIEM or FortiAnalyzer, and if the user just wants to query the log from maybe three months ago or six months ago, I think it's worth the money."
"The main feature of FortiGate Cloud is that you don't need open ports for remote administration or management of FortiGate."
"The hardware is reliable, and their support is excellent."
"One firewall box can contain various top-of-the-line services that are packaged together for easy administration."
"I like Fortinet FortiGate Cloud's simple UX and UI designs and the fact that it is also a VPN solution for our clients. The solution is user-friendly."
"The clustering part and the load balancing part are most valuable."
"This solution supports multiple platforms in a single solution."
"It is a stable solution."
"This is the best solution for management for the server administrator. VMware has been on the market for many years, so they have a lot of solutions. For on-premises, VMware is the best available solution."
"In India, basically, in the banking sector, we do not use particular open-source products, so the tool is beneficial for us."
"My experience managing virtual environments using vCenter Configuration Manager has been quite smooth. Over time, I've observed that there's been a significant local competency built around the product, especially in India, where ESXi and VMware dominate the market. It's evident that vCenter Configuration Center is the preferred management tool in this context, and it's relatively easy to find expertise in the market."
"The most valuable feature of vCenter Configuration Manager is the automated processes."
"The most valuable features of this solution are the ability to manage all of our environments allowing us to have better functionality and high availability."

Cons

"The only area that requires improvement is the login reports. We aim to integrate it with our local mobile service provider."
"Fortinet could enhance their customer service by offering more direct remote sessions to resolve issues, as relying solely on documentation can be time-consuming."
"The product is not recommended on the basis of technical parameters. It is very tough to authenticate."
"There is room for improvement in the VPN connection."
"FortiGate Cloud could be improved with increased granularity for our control."
"The initial setup is considered to be difficult."
"I would like to see better integration with other technologies."
"For improvement, I'd like to see basic endpoint security management integrated into the firewall with just a license addition."
"It can take a long time for the first information to become available. On the other hand, that's normal. It has to collect a lot of information before it can predict future needs. But it would be nice if there was some kind of base level to get started."
"When vCenter is in a Microsoft environment, there is a lot of licensing involved, where we face some difficulties."
"The product's high price is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"Many major industry players like VMware, Microsoft, and Oracle often fall short in software coding and the smooth release of new versions."
"The technical support could be faster."
"Users need to pay a licensing fee for the solution, which could be cheaper."
"The pricing and security could be improved."
"There could be an option for clients to manage the tool as well."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would not say that the product is cheaply priced. If I consider the long-term value for the service I receive, the price of the product is excellent."
"The tool's pricing is cheap."
"It's relatively cheap."
"I rate the product pricing as seven out of ten."
"The solution is relatively cost-effective compared to alternatives."
"The price of FortiGate Cloud is generally cheaper than other similar products."
"The price is over $1,000 USD annually."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate Cloud is affordable. However, lowering the price would be good for the end-users. The cost of the solution was approximately $800 per year. There are some additional features you can add in addition to the regular features."
"This product is not cheap. I have a yearly license for vCenter and the license is not cheap."
"Price-wise, the product is an affordable one. The additional expenses, apart from the licensing costs of the solution, are attached to the support a user wants to receive from vCenter Configuration Manager's end."
"It's a large application. It consumes a lot of resources. Sometimes the price is too high for our customers. If they buy it directly from VMware, its hard to convince the customer that we will bring down the total cost of ownership, in the end."
"The pricing is mid-range so I rate it a six out of ten."
"There is a free license for the standard version. Their enterprise version is expensive. I would advise starting with one server and working your way up as you go. The enterprise version provides support."
"We have to pay for the whole bundle and individual pricing is not available. One license costs us almost $200 every year."
"Users need to pay a yearly licensing fee for the solution, which is expensive."
"Their licensing costs are high. But I think for the scale that we are using, it's suitable. If you use it on a larger scale with many servers, you have to pay a lot of money for them. I think it's suitable for organizations that don't need expert people that want more money each year or each month because it's a straightforward solution. We prefer to pay for these products that are integrated and straightforward."
