Analytics integration has improved how I manage user identity and understand customer behavior
I face difficulties with the authentication parts in Google Firebase when it goes with iOS applications. With Android applications, that is easier because Google owns it. When it goes to iOS applications, there should be a much more straightforward, smoother way. I mostly faced that with Flutter because with Flutter, there are two sides with Android and iOS. The Android part was pretty much easier for me, but when it goes to the iOS part, there was more work on that.

There is easy integration with multiple providers and third-party services
It is very stable. It works 99.9 percent of the time. We are quite happy with it. This product is used to help broadcast football games' live streams, video matches and fantasy games, and it is used extensively. We have almost two million plus downloads, and during peak seasons, we could have 100,000 concurrent users watching 11 different matches.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"There are several features that I really appreciate about Google Firebase; it has an authentication and authorization tool, a real-time database, and serverless cloud functions."
"It is a completely reliable product."
"We already use this technology in our company to build our Android and iOS mobile applications and to communicate with our back-end infrastructure."
"The scalability is good."
"The connection between Firebase and the integrated development environments, especially when using Android Studio, is crucial as it saves time."
"It helps me understand user behavior more effectively with Google Analytics."
"Its simplicity makes it quite handy for my needs in app development."
"We used it to create credentials for DART for our Android and Flutter applications."
"Image backup is a valuable feature, and even though this is a common feature, it is very helpful for us."
"The tourism business is seasonally based, therefore our infrastructure needs are variable, and this service works perfectly for us."
"Ability to quickly create reliable virtual servers."
"The new generation of Rackspace Cloud servers are a strong improvement over the first generation."
"The most valuable feature for us is the support, which is really efficient."
"It is very stable; it works 99.9 percent of the time, and we are quite happy with it."
"There is easy integration with multiple providers and third-party services."
"Image backup is a valuable feature. Even though this is a common feature, it is very helpful for us."

Cons

"Firebase's real-time information isn't technically real-time. It takes a while to upload user activity into the app."
"Google Cloud Functions (which is still a BETA version) needs to have more control over the uploaded functions. That is, it needs more options for controlling the functions itself."
"The cold start-up of the cloud function needs to speed up. For me personally, I'm not experienced in anything there, however, I've just read online it's a problem."
"There's always room for improvement in every product, and the major improvement that's needed in Google Firebase is its simplification, particularly for unsavvy users or non-technical users. If you're not tech-savvy, it would be very difficult for you to use the functions of the solution and understand its security rules. If you want even non-technical people to find it easy to use Google Firebase, it should be simplified because the difference between screen-derived management and code-derived management isn't complex, so simplification wouldn't be an issue."
"The cold start-up of the cloud function needs to speed up."
"You can use this solution for lightweight use but I would not recommend being dependant on it."
"Integrations and extensions offered by the product are quite limited presently."
"The solution could improve by providing an improved SDK tool and automatic indexing for databases."
"It doesn't offer Elastic IP like AWS. And also we can't configure our server based on region."
"Vertical scalability is very limited compared with Amazon EC2, which offers many sorts of instances."
"It's often difficult to get timely support with a ticket, they seem to live by phone calls there."
"It would be nice to have more built-in suites compared to others. It would enable easier integration."
"I had a few instances where techs on off hours made extremely bad decisions, resulting in extended site outages lasting hours."
"Comparatively, this solution is a bit expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The more the number of reads and writes, the more one gets charged."
"I rate the price of Google Firebase a four out of five."
"I rate Google Firebase a seven or eight out of ten for pricing."
"It is not easy to calculate the cost per copy, use or if the load rose dramatically we did not know how that would impact the final price."
"They have a free tier that will cover most projects. For more intensive use, you pay as you use it, but the price is very cheap."
"The product is free."
"The monthly cost is based on writing data and queries to the database."
"Google Firebase’s pricing needs improvement."
"Comparatively, this solution is a bit expensive."
"The service includes licenses (for operating systems, databases, etc.). Asset management is easier with services like that."
