Enables you to manage all resources from a single dashboard using the OneView feature
In terms of improvements, I'd suggest enhancing the stability of the HPE BladeSystem, especially regarding network connectivity. We once had an issue where a system didn’t communicate with the network, and it took a while to diagnose the problem. Eventually, we discovered it was a motherboard issue, but we initially thought it was the network card. Improving the onboard administratordashboard to provide more granular insights, like clearly identifying faultycomponents, would make troubleshooting much more efficient. Aside from that, the system is superb and has been reliable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Modularity is a key feature that provides energy saving ."
"For me, the most valuable features are integration and simple defining."
"We are very happy with flexible NIC configuration features which are possible if you combine the BladeServers with HPE flex switches in the enclosures."
"Basically, in a cluster, it works really nicely, especially within a cluster environment. Also, it's easily configurable."
"The most valuable feature, of course, is its size as I can build a huge compute resource on it."
"It also has a pretty solid design and management."
"I have noticed that the solution does provide a very good ROI for companies."
"When it comes to the BladeSystem, what we love about it most is being able to actually manage it using OneView."
"I like the robustness of the machine. Similar performance could likely be achieved with other configurations, but this machine is very stable."
"We've got a few of them, because we needed some really large machines. So far, they've been working pretty good."
"This product is very reliable."
"Superdome X is a system that can compete in terms of performance and uptime, but it's now standard. That is the great value. There are competitors like IBM, for example, but IBM has a propietary operating system. With Superdome X, you have a system that can run Windows, Red Hat, or VMware, but in a mission critical server."
"The most valuable features of HPE Superdome X are speed, performance, and resilience."
"SDX gave us a very large RAM and we need that for the large-scale graph-handling applications."
"One of the really cool things about Superdome is, depending on the model you choose, you can put 8-16 blades in it."

Cons

"HPE BladeSystem can improve by providing the latest generation processor engine, such as the I-Flex processor."
"The solution could improve by having more automation, such as the automatic mapping feature that is available in the Synergy Blade series."
"I am not sure if iLO is included or if there is a separate license. If it is not included, it should be included in the license. It is such a valuable feature especially because people are working remotely."
"Currently, in the case of a disk failure there is a need to remove the whole bay and as a result, to disconnect all the other disks."
"HPE BladeSystem can improve proactive monitoring."
"The only side that must be improved is the active-passive interconnect module architecture."
"It will be discontinued so we will have to change to another product shortly."
"It is lacking in the ability to replicate virtual machines more easily."
"I know we support Windows and I think it's Red Hat, and I'd like to see more OSs supported."
"HPE Superdome X can improve by adding a lot of cloud capabilities to allow this solution to be cloud-ready in case the customer wants to move it to the cloud."
"It would be helpful if you could do the maintenance completely online."
"What would make it better from my point of view is if HPE spent more time on testing with the actual built-in Red Hat Linux drivers, as opposed to always trying to say, "Use our driver.""
"In this specific model, it could be beneficial to have a server configuration similar to Cisco, like the kind offered in HPE Superdome Flex X280. The ability to separate the chassis is important because we are forced to use two chassis even with lower loads. So introducing more flexibility in the Superdome environment would be helpful."
"I'd like to see the onboarding of some storage class memory to really expand the already very large RAM, into something that could be even much bigger."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have an annual license."
"Add OneView and ILO advanced to the base product. Don’t adjust the price, but just include them."
"The HPE BladeSystem is an expensive solution."
"It is not expensive, really, in this class of server products."
"The product’s price is high compared to one of its competitors."
"The chassis itself, with no blade server inside, so expensive. The C7000 model costs around $100,000."
"I need to pay for the license, and it is expensive. We make yearly payments."
"We have been satisfied with the price. However, there are additional costs for support."
"There is a very expensive one-time cost with no licensing fees."
"The pricing is not very cheap. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with one being very inexpensive, and ten being very expensive."
