Enables you to manage all resources from a single dashboard using the OneView feature
In terms of improvements, I'd suggest enhancing the stability of the HPE BladeSystem, especially regarding network connectivity. We once had an issue where a system didn’t communicate with the network, and it took a while to diagnose the problem. Eventually, we discovered it was a motherboard issue, but we initially thought it was the network card. Improving the onboard administratordashboard to provide more granular insights, like clearly identifying faultycomponents, would make troubleshooting much more efficient. Aside from that, the system is superb and has been reliable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"They have served different needs for us from virtualized web servers to dedicated databases and application servers."
"The solution is very fast and the power consumption is great."
"It provides a secure access to the console and reliable administration."
"Basically, in a cluster, it works really nicely, especially within a cluster environment. Also, it's easily configurable."
"The most valuable feature of HPE BladeSystem is its upgradability and centralized configuration."
"The product is quite stable. Its performance is reliable."
"The technical support is good."
"The most valuable feature of the HPE BladeSystem is the ease of management."
"We've got a few of them, because we needed some really large machines. So far, they've been working pretty good."
"SDX gave us a very large RAM and we need that for the large-scale graph-handling applications."
"I like the robustness of the machine. Similar performance could likely be achieved with other configurations, but this machine is very stable."
"The most valuable features of HPE Superdome X are speed, performance, and resilience."
"This product is very reliable."
"One of the really cool things about Superdome is, depending on the model you choose, you can put 8-16 blades in it."
"Superdome X is a system that can compete in terms of performance and uptime, but it's now standard. That is the great value. There are competitors like IBM, for example, but IBM has a propietary operating system. With Superdome X, you have a system that can run Windows, Red Hat, or VMware, but in a mission critical server."

Cons

"Some part of virtual connections needs improvement."
"It is lacking in the ability to replicate virtual machines more easily."
"The tool must provide integration with the cloud."
"There have been some hardware failures with them. These failures have since been solved by HPE support partners."
"HPE BladeSystem that we are using is currently very old. It's not too good. We haven't renewed it. I would like the solution to have more updates."
"I would prefer to have changes in the compatibility of the blade servers with the new ones designed by HPE, as the top team's version does not have it."
"HPE BladeSystem can improve proactive monitoring."
"The solution could improve by having more automation, such as the automatic mapping feature that is available in the Synergy Blade series."
"HPE Superdome X can improve by adding a lot of cloud capabilities to allow this solution to be cloud-ready in case the customer wants to move it to the cloud."
"I'd like to see the onboarding of some storage class memory to really expand the already very large RAM, into something that could be even much bigger."
"I know we support Windows and I think it's Red Hat, and I'd like to see more OSs supported."
"It would be helpful if you could do the maintenance completely online."
"In this specific model, it could be beneficial to have a server configuration similar to Cisco, like the kind offered in HPE Superdome Flex X280. The ability to separate the chassis is important because we are forced to use two chassis even with lower loads. So introducing more flexibility in the Superdome environment would be helpful."
"What would make it better from my point of view is if HPE spent more time on testing with the actual built-in Red Hat Linux drivers, as opposed to always trying to say, "Use our driver.""

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing is on an annual basis."
"With regards to the prices, they need to adapt to the current needs of the country."
"It is expensive. There are no additional costs. We are able to get good discounts anyway from HPE, but if the price can come down, we'll be happy."
"I need to pay for the license, and it is expensive. We make yearly payments."
"The price of HPE BladeSystem is less expensive than some other solutions, such as Dell. The cost of replacement equipment is expensive."
"We have been satisfied with the price. However, there are additional costs for support."
"The HPE BladeSystem is an expensive solution."
"Their licensing program is pretty simple."
"The pricing is not very cheap. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with one being very inexpensive, and ten being very expensive."
"There is a very expensive one-time cost with no licensing fees."
