Very reliable, expands well, and is pretty simple to set up
It is very straightforward to set up. It's not complex. The length of deployment depends on the way that you configure the Blades. For example, if you're going to work with VMware, the time could be at least 25 to 30 minutes. It is not going to depend on the BladeSystem; it is going to depend on the time of the operate system deployed. The number of people you need for maintenance depends on the monitoring system that you have. For example, if you have a good monitoring system for this platform you're going to need less than ten specialists, but if you don't have a monitoring system to check the platform, probably you're going to need more than ten people.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's very scalable."
"The solution is scalable, offering flexibility and expansion options to meet changing business needs."
"They have served different needs for us from virtualized web servers to dedicated databases and application servers."
"Modularity is a key feature that provides energy saving ."
"No issues with scalability. We can scale by adding another enclosure."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is its high availability."
"This has drastically reduced our datacenter space, has good cooling and power consumption."
"Currently, we're using HPE BladeSystem BL460, but we're planning to migrate to the Synergy System as part of our strategy since the OEM support for the BL460 will eventually end. The most valuable features are its high computing capability and availability. Additionally, the ability to manage all resources from a single dashboard using the OneView solution that comes with the HP Converge system is incredibly beneficial. The efficientand unique environment makes it an excellent fit for our needs."
"SDX gave us a very large RAM and we need that for the large-scale graph-handling applications."
"Superdome X is a system that can compete in terms of performance and uptime, but it's now standard. That is the great value. There are competitors like IBM, for example, but IBM has a propietary operating system. With Superdome X, you have a system that can run Windows, Red Hat, or VMware, but in a mission critical server."
"This product is very reliable."
"The most valuable features of HPE Superdome X are speed, performance, and resilience."
"I like the robustness of the machine. Similar performance could likely be achieved with other configurations, but this machine is very stable."
"We've got a few of them, because we needed some really large machines. So far, they've been working pretty good."
"One of the really cool things about Superdome is, depending on the model you choose, you can put 8-16 blades in it."

Cons

"BladeSystem is an old-fashioned server and not very well developed for new features and new areas of data centers, which is not very good for enterprise companies."
"Currently, in the case of a disk failure there is a need to remove the whole bay and as a result, to disconnect all the other disks."
"If the hardware offered higher efficiency, that would be an ideal situation for our company."
"Really look at it closely, but really look at the Synergy product as well. That seems to me like that's the next evolution of the BladeSystem."
"For me, the product is okay, but I would probably suggest improvement in their services or technical support. They need to work harder in the preventative maintenance of the system. They need to improve in terms of how quickly can we get attention and how quickly problems are resolved. Its price could also be lower."
"I would like OneView to go over the current limit of 40 instances."
"It could always use new tools."
"We have not needed to contact support because we have not had an issue. However, the partner support we had could improve. There are some disadvantages compared to Dell. The questions that are asked from the support are too lengthy, this causes a delay in support."
"I know we support Windows and I think it's Red Hat, and I'd like to see more OSs supported."
"In this specific model, it could be beneficial to have a server configuration similar to Cisco, like the kind offered in HPE Superdome Flex X280. The ability to separate the chassis is important because we are forced to use two chassis even with lower loads. So introducing more flexibility in the Superdome environment would be helpful."
"HPE Superdome X can improve by adding a lot of cloud capabilities to allow this solution to be cloud-ready in case the customer wants to move it to the cloud."
"What would make it better from my point of view is if HPE spent more time on testing with the actual built-in Red Hat Linux drivers, as opposed to always trying to say, "Use our driver.""
"It would be helpful if you could do the maintenance completely online."
"I'd like to see the onboarding of some storage class memory to really expand the already very large RAM, into something that could be even much bigger."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licenses for HPE BladeSystem are perpetual."
"The price could be cheaper."
"it would make everyone happy if the solution were less expensive."
"I would recommend this solution for large enterprises. Medium-sized companies would find it difficult to afford the HPE BladeSystem's overall capital expenses."
"There is a one-time purchase for the HPE BladeSystem."
"The licensing is on an annual basis."
"The prices for the HPE Virtual Connect Modules are expensive compared to other I/O Modules available."
"The price of HPE BladeSystem is less expensive than some other solutions, such as Dell. The cost of replacement equipment is expensive."
"There is a very expensive one-time cost with no licensing fees."
"The pricing is not very cheap. I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with one being very inexpensive, and ten being very expensive."
