Ease of use, performance, availability, and scalability
The initial setup is very easy, user-friendly, and not complex. It mostly comes with all installed, an operating system, database, and security, all included in Power Systems. So users can easily install, configure, and use it. It's integrated with other systems. You can run different systems from IBM Power Systems, AIX Linux, or IBM I operating system. It's also integrated into Windows systems and other databases and servers.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup is very easy and user-friendly."
"Disaster Recovery Services is stable."
"The latest IBM environments are very powerful for our clients."
"The solution works well for very large organizations. It can scale quite well."
"The solution offers the normal benefits of a virtual machine versus a physical, actual machine. It doesn't take up space, for example."
"Backups and restoration are 100% successful, plus we have the ability to automate backup recoverability tests."
"The tool provides an easy-to-navigate feature of all the functionalities it has for its users."
"Exchange and File server backup are valuable features."
"It is a very good product; it does what it takes to backup virtual machines, it is easy to set up, and it is very quick."
"I like all the backup features in Veeam."
"The VMR is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"Veeam has been the best BDR product that we have ever used."

Cons

"Disaster Recovery Services could provide better value for money."
"Stability could always be better."
"The infrastructure level of IBM's recovery systems could be improved."
"The solution could be improved with easier immutability."
"It needs to offer an automatic check for backups."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Sometimes it can be a bit slow to get assistance as we don't have production support."
"I've never considered what improvements Veeam needs, and I haven't asked our customers if there is any room for improvement. As the manager, I only see the reports."
"It requires a Windows Server, but it would be a good idea to have an appliance with no Microsoft license required."
"There's a situation where VMs run on different locks. It's running on the VM while having a relationship with nearby solutions running on the same server and storage. This creates a bottleneck that needs to be eliminated."
"It would be beneficial to have enhanced solutions for database backup, particularly for Oracle databases in the context of SAP systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing of the solution is based on the scale of the project or business. It's based on the server amount and the amount of data being stored. For our client, based on the amount of data they have, it may be around $20,000 USD. It could get much more expensive on the customer side."
"Disaster Recovery Services is expensive."
"The price is pretty cheap for our market."
"The product is expensive."
"The changes in pricing have been an interesting aspect. It seems to have become pricier, resulting in a reduction in affordability. There are extra expenses involved, including hardware requirements and the procurement of operating system licenses, which must also be taken into account. I would rate the price seven out of ten."
"The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
"Although our license includes support, we have only really used the support when we were using Veeam for Active Directory. The rest of the time, we find Veeam easy enough to use without paying extra support fees."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a five out of ten."
"The subscription-based pricing of Veeam Backup Replication is competitive."
"The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill."
