Manageable and comprehensive and integrates robust backup features for core banking
It's adequate for my core banking, however, I am looking for another solution for all systems. It is not compatible with other operating systems like Windows or Linux, and lacks a consolidated dashboard from Browser Spectrum. This is why I am searching for another solution. The product also lacks any centralized graphical user interface (GUI), such as Jarek Pod, and I am limited to using a console-based text user interface, which my local partner handles completely.

The features we have found most valuable in NAKIVO Backup & Replication include its cost-effectiveness, seamless integrations, comprehensive functionalities, and ease of installation and management. The pricing model is very competitive, providing excellent value for the robust features offered. Its seamless integration with our VMware infrastructure ensures smooth operation without any compatibility issues. The wide range of functionalities, including incremental and full backups, storage optimization, and disaster recovery options, meets all our backup needs comprehensively. Moreover, the simplicity of installation and the intuitive user interface have made it easy for our team to quickly set up and manage the backups without requiring extensive training.

"The way it covers backup and archive needs. The flexibility of backup copy group always allows me to cover the customer's requests."
"It has to ability to backup DV2, Oracle, and Informix."
"The solution offers very good flexibility."
"The solution is mostly stable."
"I have found that the most valuable feature is useful documentation and troubleshooting."
"The most valuable features of the product are data deduplication and disaster recovery."
"We cannot live without it, since it gives us the confidence to move forward."
"Technical support responds very quickly."
"The back-up and restore functions work great and it's easy to use."
"It is flexible."
"The upgrade process is manual but very simple to do."
"Nakivo's reporting features have helped a lot. They give my boss high visibility into what's going on, which is crucial because we had a data breach in the past where we lost about 12 years of data. That's why we bought several appliances, and we replicate the same backup twice a day to three different depositories."
"It has saved us numerous times from power outages and server failure."
"The product is easy to manage for any IT person who is new to backup, recovery, and replication."
"All in all, NAKIVO helped us save a lot of time."

Cons

"Software-wise, IBM Spectrum Protect didn't handle virtual machines that well. The license cost is mainly the area for improvement in IBM Spectrum Protect."
"The solution should have better integration with VMware and with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus."
"It lacks reporting and an efficient alert mechanism. The GUI could also be improved."
"The features should be a little bit closer together."
"I would love to see something which allows us to do an auto restart of backup jobs."
"The product should improve its GUI. It should also support Windows clustering."
"IBM's support hasn't been so good in the last few years."
"We should be talking about the capacity of the tape drives. That's the only problem."
"Integrations maybe helpful for NAKIVO. I think end-to-end backup and user backup will be useful to have. The price could be reduced as well. I also think that AD integration should be more available."
"Updating VM Tools on a replicated VM could be better."
"The process for getting unused diskspace back from the data repository is slow."
"There are many features we have not had the opportunity to try, such as Tape Backups, Office 365 backups, and many other things."
"Space is always an issue."
"In the future, it would be nice to have support for Zimbra email, Collabora Office, and the NextCloud content collaboration platform."
"In the loading of a backup, choosing what to restore seems to be a lengthy process, but it has always worked in my restore tests."
"Sometimes, for some VMs and some Windows Server versions, specifically old versions (aka server 12 or older) fail due to the VSS writer error or locking file system."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Some of the new advanced features are definitely more into cost savings, e.g., dedupe compression, so doing more with less."
"Technical support is pretty good. It is doing fine, but you pay for it."
"IBM Spectrum Protect can be considered an averagely-priced product."
"That's no longer my department, but I have some past experience with licensing. It is not cheap. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of licensing. In terms of additional costs, there is management overhead. It is a complex solution and a lot of work goes into managing clients. It has gotten better over the years, but compared to its competitor, it is still heavy on management overhead."
"We worked our licensing into a capacity model, which is nice. Now, everything is much simpler to manage from a licensing perspective."
"It is expensive."
"The most important feature which I wish to be added involves the GUI, the user interface."
"We have found that the pricing is high in our country."
"Cost is very appropriate for SMEs."
"From the perspective of Indian users, the cost is a little bit high."
"As a free solution for a small environment, this is a great solution!"
"It has a much higher bang for the buck than other products we evaluated."
"This product is cheaper than other big rivals."
"It's really cheap, and our company saves a significant amount of money on IT backup solutions per year."
"The licensing model is very affordable compared to competitors, with a good quality-to-cost ratio, and the software is quite simple and fast to setup."
"I advise that this is the best product for medium or small environments according to my cost-benefit analysis."
