Reliable for enterprise monitoring but no longer actively developed
There are problems with the latest security requirements because many things have changed in recent years, and now the security audits are very strict. And we need to switch to something else. We need to patch it constantly. Moreover, it is a very old tool and a little bit difficult to support. Otherwise, they work okay.

I am a consultant and do not recommend specific products. I work with customers, and they decide what they want to buy. I'm a CISO as a service, dealing with security. I'm from an integrator company, and they usually sell a few products. One customer uses NetScaler for a VDI system with Citrix…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It improves customer satisfaction, deploy-ability, adaptability, flexibility, scalability, and reduces cost of operation."
"It's very easy to use."
"NetCool has a huge database that can collect and process about one million alarms a day."
"The tool had many built-in automation capabilities."
"Full featured - event/fault management, performance management, topology map, discovery, RCA, event enrichment, Proviso will chart data from almost any source with a variety of aggregation options."
"The feature I have found most valuable with NetCool is how it collaborates all the alarms, and then it does a predictive analysis, providing a consolidated alarm view and management."
"The solution has very good integration capabilities."
"Tivoli NetCool allows us to grasp a lot of data that can be applied toward predictive analytics and auto-remediation."
"It has been a very useful solution for us, allowing us to manage application accessibility even during the pandemic with complete visibility of application accessibility and any malicious activities, along with analytics reports so we can support our infrastructure in a very secure manner."
"The most valuable feature is the capability of performing load balancing in a virtual environment."
"It is a complete solution for those looking for an all-in-one."
"Since it has a significant integration with its virtualization, that has improved the usability access of the virtual desktops."
"The installation is simple for both manual configuration and automatic deployment."
"It's a wonderful product."
"It allows students to access required software for their studies."
"The stability is good, and if there is a problem, the load will be shifted to other sites automatically, which has been a good experience for us."

Cons

"Customization and integration that you need to do to make the product fit your needs is very complex. It is not a product that somebody could easily pick up without any prior training or experience."
"It was a bit expensive to purchase but the benefits outweigh all the cons by far."
"UI is outdated, very old legacy."
"From a customer perspective, it is quite an expensive solution to initially implement and then support."
"The installation could be simplified, and technical support could be faster."
"The solution does not have any AI capabilities."
"I think the UI should be updated and made more presentable and eye-catching. Compared to NCE in Huawei, NSN in Nokia, the UiPath and Ubiquiti, it feels very old legacy."
"This is another one of those suites glued together from a myriad of acquisitions and it shows once you get under the hood."
"Getting to use some of the advanced tools, even with the assistance of Citrix support, can be challenging."
"They need to make the solution a little more familiar with easy study guides, learning videos, etc."
"The solution can improve their support and send tickets directly to a Citrix ADC engineer in order to avoid having to escalate each support call."
"There are certain features that are very useful and Citrix makes you pay a bit more for them."
"I would like to see more integration for single sign-on."
"The process itself could be improved by making it more flexible because it has become really complicated to deploy."
"This is an expensive solution."
"It should offer more flexible cost-effective licensing for small to medium sized organizations i.e. a pooled licensing option on entry level MPXs like 5901s."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the product is too expensive."
"It costs around 100k for every ten servers, which is lower than similar products from other vendors."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"Customers are required to pay a licensing fee."
"It is true that it is a bit pricey compared to newer technologies coming to the market. For example, A10 is a load balancer that does everything that Citrix can and it does a lot more than what NetScaler does when it comes to the security space, and their prices are so cheap. Every box comes with its own license and support built into it. When you compare that with NetScaler, you have to buy licenses separately, you have to buy a support agreement that is going to be separate. A small NetScaler, even if it is a VPX which is a virtual server, could cost you close to $150,000 to $200,000 dollars. So the pricing is really high."
"Its price is comparable to others and affordable."
"Citrix Web App and API Protection are in the middle when we talk about pricing and licensing"
"The licensing costs for this solution vary depending on which model is being used."
"NetScaler does the same thing as an F5 and it's cheaper."
"In Turkey, everything is good, but it seems expensive for us due to the currency exchange. I don't have a specific rating scale, but if I had to rate the price, I would say it's around a six out of ten."
"Ninety day free trial makes it easy to try out this solution."
"The solution is expensive compared to one of its competitors."
