Provides secure secret management with granular controls and professional support
The tool is very good, but the commercialized training, which is paid, could be improved. Regularizing those trainings as part of a global alliance between the customer, SI partner, and CyberArk would be more profitable, allowing relevant SMEs to be trained better. There are training courses available that sometimes provide coupons on a yearly basis. If those coupons increase from about 10 to 20 people, it would provide better opportunities for SI partners Tech Mahindra to train resources and gain visibility with customers. There are indeed paid training courses for partners, and while they shouldn't be entirely free, the coupons can make them free. Increasing those coupons would allow more resources to be trained rather than limiting them to just two or three.

Identity has become our central gatekeeper and has provided secure single sign-on for all users
Microsoft Entra ID can improve by focusing more on new passwordless methods and becoming a primary adopter. One feature we would like to see is the ability to have security questions for password resets. I know the current capability is phasing out, so we do not have an alternative method yet. Customers who already use security questions require a smoother transition for that capability to be available. My experience with the deployment has had some challenges, particularly around the Microsoft MFA campaigns. The hardest part is moving users from a different MFA provider to the Microsoft MFA provider, as it ultimately depends on user activity. In large enterprises with numerous users across various geographies, this transition takes time. If there are ways to exert more control around that process, it would improve the situation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One of the most important features for us is the system's performance, particularly its speed of retrieving secrets."
"The audit trails have been extremely important for us in helping our organization meet regulatory requirements."
"The automatic rotation of the password is the top feature."
"It's vital for effectively managing and securing my credentials."
"CyberArk Secrets Management is a critical solution for strengthening our security posture."
"With CyberArk Secrets Management, we were able to resolve the automatic change of the passwords based on timelines. We were also able to retrieve the passwords in an encrypted format by utilizing the CyberArk platform, which was not provided to us by UiPath."
"CyberArk's support team is knowledgeable and helpful, consistently responding on time."
"The granular controls of CyberArk Secrets Management are very niche in their development and very secure from the overall secret management perspective, offering high-level functionalities where we have control over user access, which can be tracked and monitored."
"This is the kind of solution that I feel you cannot run an organization without using."
"The access control aspect of the authentication is the solution's most valuable aspect."
"All of the features are amazing, such as identity governance and privileged identity management."
"The user management groups are valuable. It is a pretty basic product, but user management, in general, is valuable with the ability to differentiate between business lines and add different policies, group-based management, and dynamic user groups."
"Azure Active Directory works well to access the resources that the school has set up for the students."
"Azure AD has massively affected our end-user experience; it provided a single sign-on for all our partners, they don't have to remember their password, and requesting access is much better since it is all automated."
"The features of Microsoft Entra ID that I appreciate the most are the Conditional Access policies, because they provide granular aspects to enable features and offer flexibility across my user base, allowing me to provide the security features and protections needed for complex organizations."
"Using Azure Active Directory has benefitted several of my clients, with an example being a startup organization."

Cons

"The password search feature and integration between different vaults could be enhanced. For instance, when updating passwords in both lower and higher environment vaults, improvement is required in search and upgrade functions."
"Improvements for CyberArk Secrets Management include enhanced documentation with more use cases and step-by-step integration guides."
"We did not have a good experience with technical support because their numerous processes caused delays in engaging, leading to project delays or issues with production."
"Implementing it and ensuring seamless password rotations present challenges."
"Implementation was complex and required professional services."
"There is room for improvement with better documentation and less need for CyberArk Secrets Management personnel to assist us with their presence."
"We occasionally experience incidents that delay password injection back into the script."
"There should be guidance on features, especially security features, in Entra ID and whether they are sufficient on their own. The solution could become expensive when paying extra for enhanced security features, so Microsoft needs to offer better clarity on this matter."
"Compared to what we can do on-prem, Azure AD lacks a feature for multiple hierarchical groups."
"I would like it to be easier to integrate third-party applications."
"If somebody is using an IdP or an identity solution other than Active Directory, that's where you have to start jumping through some hoops... I don't think the solution is quite as third-party-centric as Okta or Auth0."
"Azure Active Directory could improve the two-factor authentication."
"Transitioning to the cloud is very difficult. They need the training to make it easier."
"Their support needs improvement. The UI can also be better. The menu options are very confusing at times."
"A couple of years ago, I experienced some difficulty in implementing the solutions, the services of Azure AD. In one instance, I was not able to configure Azure AD for a registration. This was two or three years ago. However, currently, the documentation is very clear and there are no loopholes or anything that could hinder even a simple IT administrator to implement these services."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is in the middle. It is neither very cheap nor very expensive, so I would place it in the middle."
"CyberArk Secrets Management has a moderate pricing structure based on a per-tenant licensing model rather than a per-user account model like their PAM solution."
"There are add-on components and services, such as identity services, that we have to add to our Azure subscription. Only then can I actually say it's on par with the on-prem server edition. Why should I pay for a component? It should be included in my subscription."
"Microsoft Entra ID's pricing is reasonable."
"The cost is billed on a per-user licensing basis."
"Azure has an educational package available for students with a variety of licenses and different software available."
"The licensing costs are yearly. There is a standard fee per user."
"We are a non-profit organization, so we get good prices from Microsoft for their products. It is working well, but it could be cheaper. For the type of organization we are, it would be good if they could give a little bit more and be more generous like Google, which has completely free services. Microsoft has free versions or web services called Office 365 E1, which is free for use, but we want to have it with more qualified clients."
"If you're on Azure, it can be free or it's incorporated, at no extra cost, or it can become extremely complicated."
"It is a packaged license. We have a Premium P1 subscription of Office 365, and it came with that."
