Real-time monitoring has improved incident response and supports proactive anomaly detection
The advantages and strong points of ITRS Geneos for me personally are seamless integration with existing systems as well as upcoming modern systems. The user interface is really good. From a management point of view, these are the key aspects with respect to the user interface and seamless integration. We get very good community support for this product. ITRS Geneos has impacted my organization positively, and I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The confidence of our users has greatly improved because of our ability to react much faster."
"The result was a similar metrics monitored at a much better frequency, with a more stable product and a much better user interface."
"Customer Service: Very good. Technical Support: Very good."
"ITRS Geneos is very well known in the financial services community as being the best platform to monitor real time data infrastructures and the application does what it says on the tin."
"The ability to build integrations to tools that are not monitored out of the box is the most valuable feature."
"This tool allows one to analyse, integrate and customize as per the systems and allows you to set your own rules."
"Customizable Dashboard to display real time business flow monitoring is extremely useful to operations as well as business users, not only to monitor health but also capacity and performance at a glance, catering well to capital markets trading environments from on-exchange order latency to client RFQ type multi-stage tracking, with Geneos providing tools to capture data in near real-time and highly customizable ingestion of metrics that allow users to create tailored scripts and tools for their monitoring needs."
"Their customer support is first rate."
"Everything that is around the digital performance environment, I can see."
"The product can scale."

Cons

"Its web monitoring capability is very hard to use especially if there is authentication involved."
"ITRS have started to make some major changes that we haven't taken on board yet, in the creation of dashboards and more visibility of the metrics that we collect. At the moment, that's something that's lacking, but I know they have addressed it. Still, it’s not that easy to create stuff to help with visibility and dashboarding in Geneos."
"The deployment method for upgrading is a bit tricky. It takes a little bit of manual effort. If that could be a bit more automated, it would help us a lot."
"Their cloud monitoring solution needs to be improved. I have already given them the feedback that it's not capable of meeting the latest technology needs."
"I would really like to see something from the Geneos side to set up automated reporting from ITRS. We have to send reporting to management every day. To do that we have to check the dashboard and then we have to report whether everything is fine or not. In the future, I want something, some reporting kind of feature in ITRS, where it can collect all the data and mention what is green, what is amber, what is red in a report."
"Currently the dashboard does not have the capability of providing different status levels, and this needs to be updated."
"I would like to see ITRS integrate its setup editor with a SVN to check-in setup XML after major changes."
"ITRS Geneos cloud monitoring is very weak and can use improvement."
"I can't recall coming across any missing features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is priced quite high. There are pricing options for customers based on the size of the environment and plug-ins used by the monitoring system."
"Pricing and licensing is based on the requirements."
"The pricing is fairly market-related. They have been very lenient because we have been working with them for so long. An example is that we're currently migrating some of our services to AWS, and they've given us a grace period for some of the things to help with the migration and not to grow additional costs while we are migrating, but it's still on par with the market."
"The market tools are on par with this solution, but if the solution included more features, then it would be well within the range for the cost."
"Based on feedback from colleagues and friends working in the financial sector, Geneos is relatively costly. Many companies have been switching from Geneos to Dynatrace, Sysdig, or other monitoring tools in the past two years because of the price."
"I can say it's not that cheap because the licensing is a little bit costly"
"Pricing is the touchy subject, even here. Upper management always wants us to find a cheaper solution. But we have so much integrated with ITRS... It's expensive, but it does its job very well. And you set it and go."
"It is expensive. They have to look at the model around when we move to cloud and how that's going to work. The licensing cost does pay off because of the improvements in support to our business."
