Managing application health has become simpler but new monitoring features still need faster delivery
I use application discovery and dependency mapping. It helps with managing application health What I like about ManageEngine Applications Manager is the ease of use and ease of deployment. I cannot remember anything specific for future updates of the product. The new features take a lot of time…

Simplifies setup and requires user interface enhancement
Nagios XI is easy to install, which sets it apart from other open-source solutions I've tried. Typically, setting up a monitoring system on Linux involves cloning files from GitHub, building it, and installing many dependencies, but with Nagios XI, it wasn't like that. Nagios XI simplifies our setup and reduces the time spent configuring monitoring tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Its price and the flexibility to deploy are the most valuable. Flexibility is very important, and you can scale from very basic to more complex. This solution is a part of a complete suite of management tools. So, it can be integrated with other solutions for monitoring networks, which is very important. You can expand it or interconnect it with many other tools, which is a powerful feature. We have a very good and long relationship with ManageEngine support guys. They provide very good support for us."
"The feature that I have found most valuable in ManageEngine Applications Manager is its dashboard."
"The features on the dashboard of ManageEngine Application Manager are much better than these other solutions, and I found that those solutions can be quite costly in comparison."
"I found Application Manager better than other products, including Solarwinds, because there are so manys option in Application Manager that makes it unique, such as supporting all servers, networks, cloud systems etc."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager maintains the historical data and it's easy for us to analyze the trends and patterns and fix them accordingly."
"If cost is your consideration and you have a well-rounded system administrator, this is a good product to explore."
"The initial setup was straightforward, without complexity."
"The anomaly detection feature helps with maintaining the system's health. It is regarding our IT incident center."
"The alerting system is very effective."
"It's a monitoring agent. It's designed to do one thing. Its most valuable feature is its monitoring."
"BPI: It allows defining peripherals to map business criticality for efficient monitoring, as required."
"It has a wide variety of plugins in existence, but when there's no plugin available it is quite simple to integrate one's own programs and scripts."
"Nagios is a custom API manager, and we can expose custom APIs for our integration. This is a great feature."
"The most valuable feature is the monitoring of processes."
"Nagios is my favourite open source monitoring system."
"Simplicity of configuration; I can set up configuration of 100 devices with about 10 services in one to two days."

Cons

"They could probably rearrange the UI so that it would be easy for people who are new to the Application Manager to configure things."
"More modem support for SMS feature."
"They can improve the post-processing of the data. AppDynamics has more powerful tools for post-processing or analytics. It has some limitations in more complex environments, but because we are free to use different solutions, we try to find what is best for the customers or the problem we are trying to solve."
"I would like the solution to improve the ability to track services."
"The inventory of assets needs improvement."
"Lacks an SIEM solution which can be found in other products."
"The agent often crashes when there is too much load on the application side. If a sudden storm of data comes in, the agent crashes down most of the time."
"It can’t be configured to store APM Insight data for more than one month."
"The NCC does have issues where it locks up or an admin cannot be sure if the system configuration was exact."
"There's no convenient way to manage notes as the only way is to manage them through the database."
"We're still experiencing stability issues with regards to collecting performance graphs."
"Business services monitoring is still really basic."
"We often need to develop custom plugins to get Nagios to work the way we want it to work because the features we need are not always available in Nagios."
"Initially, we encountered problems during the setup as some errors were noted due to a few prerequisites not being fulfilled and having some configuration files to edit and plugins to add."
"If you are monitoring network devices, often it's not scaled for large corporations. Definitely, a minus in that area."
"The reporting part should be made simpler. While we can obtain all the reports we need, we always have to create work-arounds to get them."

"Price-wise, it is a cheap tool...The solution's licensing model is subscription-based, in which yearly payments are to be made."
"ManageEngine Applications Manager has reasonable pricing. It's more affordable than other solutions in the market. My company has an instance-based license for ManageEngine Applications Manager.
