Centralized identity governance has automated lifecycle management and simplifies compliance
One Identity Manager could be improved by making the initial setup and configuration simpler, especially for complex workflows and integrations. The user interface and reporting dashboards could also be more modern and intuitive with better out-of-the-box analytics. Additionally, clearer documentation and faster implementation guidance would help organizations get value more quickly. One specific challenge my team encountered was the complexity during initial configuration, especially when setting up custom workflows and role models which required more time and expertise. We also felt that out-of-the-box reports and dashboards are limited, and more customizable real-time analytics would be helpful. Better documentation and guided setup wizards would make adoption easier, particularly for teams new to identity governance tools. One improvement I think One Identity Manager needs is the enhanced self-service experience. The end-user self-service portal could be more intuitive with clearer guidance for access requests and password resets. Additionally, while integrations are solid, deeper cloud-native connectors and API-driven automation would help in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. A more responsive mobile interface or dedicated app for approvals and tasks would help managers who are often on the go. One more improvement is the built-in predictive insights or trend dashboards around access patterns and risk could improve proactive governance. More descriptive error messages and in-tool troubleshooting tips during setup configuration would reduce dependency on external documentation or support.

The ability to customize the UI would be good nonetheless, it is still a great interface.
Don't get overwhelmed with the product, and give an honest effort in trying to implement it yourself. You will find that you have opened an enormous door for yourself to get anything done. Since I started using UMRA, any request that comes through my desk is almost immediately possible because I know what UMRA can do. Also, creating the projects yourself, will save you time and money in the future when updates are needed to existing projects. Tools4Ever technical support is always available to answer questions if you get stuck. That said, UMRA is primarily a user management tool for your users, in whatever directory you happen to be using; So my statement above will only apply if you are also quite well versed with the workings of said directory.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The short version is that we gained significant insight into the issues of access governance. This allowed us to turn an auditing nightmare into praise from our auditors."
"This solution helps with compliance by having a way of controlling an audit trail, knowing how things are done, and knowing how to control who has access to what."
"In One Identity Manager, I appreciate the Synchronization Editor for onboarding different target system applications."
"This solution is better on the IT personnel, because now they spend less (or almost no time) managing user rights."
"Quest One IDM allows for large customization."
"The policy and role management features are very powerful and useful for our customers."
"It is flexible because it is customizable, allowing you to build anything on top of it."
"I am satisfied with One Identity Manager for providing a single platform for enterprise-level administration and governance of privileged accounts and data."
"UMRA has been in production for seven years, and I can confidently say that I have never had a single issue with stability, even through upgrades."

Cons

"I would like to see the possibility of being supported during the migration to the Angular portal as an improvement in One Identity Manager."
"I would like them to enhance the search functionality to enable faster processing when looking for objects."
"With technical support, it is always an issue to get the right person. They do have good technical people in support, but it is sometimes not so easy to get them."
"The customization process should be simplified."
"The support team could be improved on. The first level of support essentially looks up knowledge base articles and often can't provide the answer needed."
"There are occasional issues with the UI or errors when servers are not up and running, often requiring a restart from cache memory and other related areas."
"Transitioning from legacy technologies, like for a seasoned web designer moving to Angular, can be challenging and requires dedicated learning."
"Using dynamic business roles can degrade the performance of One Identity Manager."
"Scalability, however, can only happen vertically on any particular instance, as opposed to horizontally."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We are using a self-built solution. It would cost too much to get that up to the standard of what we need. In the long-term, it is cheaper to buy a solution that has what we need. Though, we are still running the previous solution, as we are still in the implementation phase."
"My clients have been using it for a long time now. They have looked at other products as well, so it seems worth the price."
"It is cost-effective. I do not know about the other regions, but here in the Middle East, the competitors are almost double the price."
"One Identity Manager has a reasonable price point."
"It's not cheap, but the pricing is okay. Other applications cost about the same."
"One Identity Manager's pricing is competitive and in line with what other companies offer."
"In addition to licensing fees, we may incur costs for professional services if product issues or implementation errors arise beyond our control."
"Start with an operations team that is motivated to learn a lot in a short period of time. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be to get the right level of expertise in this area."
