User finds integration useful but seeks improvement in interface intuitiveness
I am satisfied with OpenText Documentum so far; it has great integration capabilities. The connection with our API and SAP is useful, as you can use their SAP interface. The key point that my company decided to go with OpenText Documentum is mostly because you can integrate it with many other tools such as Salesforce.

Collaboration has improved through simplified document access and controlled sharing
SharePoint is definitely used to keep a record of our files and data. The capability is quite good because it is time-saving. I have used it only four or five times, but it has been very helpful to keep all my information in a consolidated manner. The search feature is one of the most beneficial factors that we use to filter out the latest data or the latest file as per our convenience and use case. When you have a large repository, this feature is particularly valuable. Role-based access control has been helpful while developing the knowledge platform. The roles were defined clearly, which made it easy for the four or five of us to work simultaneously and collaborate on our project in a similar manner.

Pros

"I am satisfied with OpenText Documentum so far; it has great integration capabilities."
"It provides possibilities for us to save documents and supporting the business process while doing so."
"It is a very secure system. It is reliable, and that is one of the reasons people manage their content within Documentum. It gives them the confidence that the content is accessible to the right people and not to the wrong people."
"It stands out for its impressive records management capabilities and the ability to handle an extensive volume of documents, even reaching into the billions."
"Documentum is a highly scalable document management solution because it's built on a solid platform."
"The product is tamper-proof and enables us to return to the document source, which is helpful in legal issues."
"Two things are excellent in Documentum. One is business process management. The other is its support for metadata."
"The most valuable feature of OpenText Documentum is the versioning."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily build intranet sites for communicating within teams, storing documentation, product information, pricing policies, updates on product infrastructure, and other related news."
"It has good integration with other MS products."
"The ability to have version control and co-editing is vital to our workflows."
"It improved transparency around work products."
"Information is much more readily available."
"SharePoint has made things easier with the increased functionality for building the portals, microsites, and total integration with Microsoft categories."
"Sharing information is very easy in SharePoint. We use multiple types of documents, like online Excel tools and online content editing, especially for group editing. This allows us to collaborate, even in distributed teams. Despite being geographically spread out, everyone can access the same files online, edit them, and see changes. We also use SharePoint to track all these changes, making our teamwork more collaborative overall. The tool fastens information sharing and collaboration."
"The product makes it easy to manage lists, forms, searching, and security. One of the most valuable features is its integration with Active Directory."

Cons

"Sometimes DocBroker cannot see the DocBase."
"The price is quite high as the licensing prices are significant."
"The BPM side should be improved."
"I would like to see performance improvements, especially regarding slow response times."
"We mostly use the Life Sciences package. That package is somewhat dated. There should be enhancements to the Life Science package and additional offerings to support pharma in particular."
"The BPM side should be improved."
"It needs a better UI and it should also be cloud-ready. The UI has not changed in years."
"One area for improvement in OpenText Documentum is its handling of outdated documents, especially technical ones."
"The solution should improve its integration with other project management tools."
"Emails stored now do not display metadata in native format."
"The support is the worst. It is bad when Microsoft support does not even know what to do and you have to tell them. Also, they take too long to solve a problem."
"Needs improvement on the user interface."
"When you are trying to migrate from a different platform to SharePoint for file storage, the upload utility should be more flexible, taking more files and then updating you on the upload status of the files you are trying to transfer into SharePoint."
"The product must provide more automation."
"More hints and make it more user-customizable."
"It should have a Google-caliber search ability and a model-based GUI."
