Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Unified backups have protected virtual machines and applications and optimize storage efficiency
Regarding automated disaster recovery, we have not used Veritas NetBackup automated disaster recovery because according to the RFP terms and conditions, we are not supposed to have automated failover or failback, as we are a government entity and cannot violate the rules of the RFP. My feedback about granular recovery in Veritas NetBackup is that we have been doing verifications of the backed-up data to restore from point to point and time to time, focusing on file level or database level. When it comes to integration with cloud services, we have not started because we are a government entity and are not allowed to store any data in the cloud at this time. From security concerns regarding what I would improve about Veritas NetBackup, I think you need to look into this because we found only one encryption option available, which is not that very strong. When I initiate a backup from my laptop or server to the appliance or the tape media using Veritas NetBackup, the encryption channels are not strong, and there are not many options available. Whatever is there is by default and not changeable. We cannot modify any encryption facilities, and security is a big concern nowadays, so you need to look into that. Regarding the functionality part of Veritas NetBackup, I think this encryption feature should be stronger and integrated from point to point, not just at specific levels. When I initiate a backup, all the communication channels involved should be encrypted until it reaches the endpoint, meaning from client to server, server to client, and client device.

"This solution is very stable, there's no question about it."
"We use Veeam Agent for security as well as to ensure we have a backup should the server or discs fatally die."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"So far, I've found the solution to be easy to use; it's fast and reliable as well, and I can access whatever I need on very short notice."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows's most useful features is the ease of use and user-friendly."
"The most valuable feature is that you don't need any special connectivity - you just need to give your seller name, and then it automatically discovers all your virtual machines, which is a great benefit, especially in a bigger environment."
"This is a very competitive product because all of the latest features and technology is in there."
"I like that it's enterprise-capable. It can handle multiple operating systems. It can handle multiple database types. It can handle a lot of different backup use cases. It's flexible."
"Best feature is its three-tier backup."
"The most valuable feature is its stability."
"The Replication Director, Auto Image Replication, Accelerator, Oracle Intelligent Policy, synthetic and VADP backups are the most valuable features."
"The solution is stable."
"The deduplication feature is useful. Deduplication and compression features are what I like about NetBackup."

Cons

"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"A lower price would always be beneficial."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve."
"The only thing that's not as good with Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is the compression ratio and the application ratio."
"I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers."
"The solution lacks instant recovery."
"The predictability of the solution needs improvement. Sometimes, if it's doing something at the back end, it may go slow. Today, the backup completion took four hours, but sometimes it can do the backup in 30 minutes or an hour. With solutions like NetBackup, I can predict to a much higher degree of certainty how long something will take to complete."
"It's not a user-friendly solution. It's a little bit complicated. The UI is not very friendly."
"From security concerns regarding what I would improve about Veritas NetBackup, I think you need to look into this because we found only one encryption option available, which is not that very strong."
"The solution's technical support process should be improved."
"It would be extremely helpful if the solution offered near-zero recovery time for SQL."
"The cost is expensive."
"Support for the solution needs improvement."
"Setup implementation."
"The licensing costs could be more affordable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"It is less expensive than one of its variants."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"We have a license package."
"The price of NetBackup is okay. I think it's a little bit expensive but manageable. It has a lot of features, and the backup is better than most applications, so I think the price is competitive."
"If you have a complex environment with dozens of different servers and apps, I recommend you look for TB licensing."
"If you have a source size of one terabyte then they will charge for a one terabyte license, although what is actually being stored is much less."
"NetBackup is expensive. They need to work on the pricing side. I find it comparatively on the higher side when I compare the terabyte backup costs."
"Its price is quite reasonable. The cost depends on the depreciation and the volume. It also depends on the infrastructure. If your infrastructure increases, you would need some more licenses."
"The price is fair."
"A better price would make this product more competitive."
"Our license is capacity-based."
