Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Pros

"This solution is very stable, there's no question about it."
"The interface of this solution is quite good."
"The initial setup was straightforward. It was very easy. Deployment only took about one hour with configuration and everything considered."
"It's straightforward to set up."
"We have been very happy with the solution so far and would definitely recommend the product to other users, companies, and organizations."
"If you say no to Veeam One, at least implement it in your Lab environment, it will change your mind."
"One person can manage parameters."
"The solution's interface, GUI (graphical user interface), and backup are good."
"It is stable; it is almost fire-and-forget."
"Provides lots of reporting and visualization of how much data has been transferred."
"Veeam replication gives migration tools/options for VMware."
"Instant Backup is an useful feature."
"It has improved our organization; I don't have to spend all day troubleshooting backups, so it has freed up a lot of time."

Cons

"The only things that I can think of where Veeam can improve are in very small details."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve."
"The stability of this solution needs to be improved."
"Some users might think the interface could be improved."
"The solution lacks instant recovery."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive."
"In the next release, I would like to see it easier to implement."
"I've always found recovery speed to be its downfall."
"It requires a Windows Server, but it would be a good idea to have an appliance with no Microsoft license required."
"I think it would be great if it could back up from inside virtual machines (like Backup Exec) with compression."
"The replicating from Veeam Backup Replication to Azure cloud could be improved."
"Its native capability for talking to the public cloud needs improvement."
"Sometimes, it's a little difficult for me to use its user interface. Its scope is very big with a lot of tuning, settings, and so on."
"The solution is quite expensive, and that becomes an issue if you need to scale."
"With Veeam v7 in conjunction with vSphere 5.5 using vSphere Flash Read Cache (vFRC), I started seeing issues with Veeam backups either failing or VM Snapshots constantly needing consolidation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"The cost is expensive. It will depend on how you are managing your environment, your requirements, and if you can easily manage a license. It's not that difficult, so you can manage it, but the cost is high, so you need to check directly with Veeam as well as the local partner so you can get the discount prices."
"It's an extremely cost-effective solution."
"The product must improve its pricing."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
"The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
"The price of the solution could be lower."
"This solution requires a license and the organizations I was involved in were using an enterprise license."
