Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

"This solution is very stable, there's no question about it."
"This is a reliable system that supports Veeam backup and recovery for Windows."
"Solution provides good security."
"We have been very happy with the solution so far and would definitely recommend the product to other users, companies, and organizations."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to navigate inside a backup point to look for a specific folder or data you want to recover."
"If you have windows machine at home and you'd like a backup, you can always download their free edition and plug in an external hard disk, and do a full backup of your laptop."
"The replication feature has proven to be the most valuable feature for us."
"Just recently, I retired Backup Exec, and added Veeam v8. This increased the backup scope by 30% and reduced tape usage by 70%."
"The pricing of the solution is fair."
"This product has really reduced our recovery time objective considerably because we are able to restore entire virtual machines in under 15 minutes whenever that has come up."
"We have evaluated other solutions but Veeam is the best for virtualization."
"Veeam One is easy to use. You don't need to get very technical or specific class training. Anyone can start using it."
"We thought it had the best integration with VMware."
"My technical team can provide a more accurate answer regarding experience with its recovery speed and reliability, but we haven't had any issues with it."

Cons

"A feature I would like to see is universal restore."
"I am not very impressed by the technical support I received when I had an issue."
"The solution could use some updates to minor details omitted from current reporting."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"While the Veeam agent is perfect, sometimes the agent doesn't install in Windows."
"Updating sometimes gives us a problem by taking too long or causing other problems."
"The scalability is not very good - especially when I want to backup Microsoft Windows."
"Multithreading of health check process: This can take too much time to process on large jobs and/or large VMs."
"It would be beneficial to have enhanced solutions for database backup, particularly for Oracle databases in the context of SAP systems."
"The ability to do more backups should be addressed."
"The product must improve its performance."
"The solution is snapshot-based with no vCloud Director integration and a very incomplete knowledge base."
"Veeam ONE does the basic job of reporting, but it does not meet my requirements of automated resolution."
"Some support replies for a broken backup task have been "rebuild the job from scratch" and this is a bad thing to do if you have many VMs and repositories."
"The technical support has not been good in my experience. They need to have faster and more reliable support for this solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is less expensive than one of its variants."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive."
"Its pricing is really good."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"It is more cost-effective than some of the other solutions, but a lot of that comes down to the fact that we're a reseller. So, depending upon the deal, we do negotiate different price points for different customers. The price varies depending upon the size of the customer, the size of the deal, and the discounts we can negotiate."
"This product is not cheap, but it's well worth the cost."
"The product is expensive."
"The pricing is good and affordable."
"We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year."
