Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Comprehensive data protection supports diverse IT environments
Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products. It supports cross-platform backup and recovery, allowing customers to back up from one platform and recover to another. The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use. In addition to virtual machine backups, the platform supports physical server backups, file backups, and database backups. This comprehensive support allows customers to back up most IT resources, including the public cloud, within one platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Rotating HDDs for offline backups use case Instant VM recovery with vPower NFS and SureBackup, also known as Recovery Assurance by other vendors."
"Veeam ONE effectively centralizes the view of different tools."
"It really just works, we don't have backup issues anymore."
"This product is user-friendly. The interface is easy to use."
"The most valuable aspect is its reliability in recovering any replaceable data in the event of server issues in a production environment."
"Replication and restore object in Exchange boxes with possibility to select part of Microsoft directory."
"If most, or all, of your environment is based on virtual machines and you want something that is simple to install, configure and manage but above all else, something that backs up and restores your data successfully then Veeam is your product."
"By allowing us to restore from our NetApp appliance directly, we have realized a tremendous time and resource savings in our virtual environment."
"The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use."
"Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products."

Cons

"Backing up Exchange could be better, particularly Clustered Exchange."
"The cloud backups from Veeam Backup Replication have not been good. Addiotnaally, the backups of Office 365 and the overall performance can always be improved."
"Speed and more management."
"Random CBT errors during backup jobs."
"It would be beneficial to have enhanced solutions for database backup, particularly for Oracle databases in the context of SAP systems."
"The VMotion feature is not reliable enough to ensure a successful migration operation."
"Active Directory, because if we could restore GPO as a single level object as well as restoring AD schema partition through backup then I think it will be great product."
"I think Veeam needs to improve the file installation process, as well as more technical things like snapping feature issues. Sometimes during backup, when it's taking the scan snaps on the ESXi, it started and didn't remove the snapshot from there, which consumed storage on the EXSi. It could be improved with more technical depth. The response time for Veeam's technical support could also be improved."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Veeam has a ten-license package gives you two physical and two virtual servers you can use on any endpoint."
"The solution is fairly priced. I rate the pricing a five out of ten."
"Veeam ONE is cheaper when you compare it with one of its competitors in the ops space, VMware vRealize Operations. There's a separate department that deals with the licensing, but my company is using CSP licensing, which is the service provider licensing, so my company doesn't fall under the normal volume at the Veeam Universal licensing program. The cost is commit-based and depends on what your point commit is. The point commit works differently, and it's similar to your sales provider license. If you commit to using one thousand five hundred points, you get a certain price. If you commit to using the eight hundred points scheme, you get a certain price. As you grow the point scheme, you get a different price range, so it doesn't matter whether you're using Veeam One, Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup and Replication, Orchestrate, or whatever the product is."
"We are happy with the pricing and we pay for licensing on a subscription basis."
"We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Veeam each year, although it is not expensive for what we get."
"I consider that the product's price falls under the middle range category."
"Veeam Backup Replication can be quite expensive for Office 365 because its license is per user and not for the space that you use. You need one license for each user. If the user only uses a few files on one hard drive, you need a license to back up these files. It was better to have a license model, such as in the Cohesity solution. Cohesity has a license for a space that you use. It's more useful in this case because the license for backup data is on-premises is for CPU. The license is based on how many CPUs you have but it does not depend on how many users use the CPU."
"They could work at providing a better price."
