Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Comprehensive data protection supports diverse IT environments
Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products. It supports cross-platform backup and recovery, allowing customers to back up from one platform and recover to another. The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use. In addition to virtual machine backups, the platform supports physical server backups, file backups, and database backups. This comprehensive support allows customers to back up most IT resources, including the public cloud, within one platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"From my experience, Veeam is very good. Its interface is user-friendly. We can restore it whenever. It's not complicated. It's very easy to manage and administration is very easy."
"I would highly recommend it, since the solution is very simple to implement, monitor and manage."
"When compared to Tape or other virtual solutions Veeam is by far the most cost effective."
"Strong performance with a high level of compatibility."
"We changed when we saw the promise of Veeam, and these promises have been delivered!"
"Veeam Backup and Replication is in its own world - Nothing out there that is even close to this product that I could recommend."
"The backup and replication features are most valuable."
"Let me start by mentioning that, before Veeam, my company used to backup data with Microsoft Robocopy; backup times now are more than ten times faster and the data to be moved is only a fraction."
"Vinchin Backup & Recovery supports most mainstream private cloud platforms, including VMware, Nutanix, and Microsoft Hyper-V, as well as many Chinese-based products."
"The user interface is very user-friendly, making it easy for customers to understand and use."

Cons

"Veeam doesn't have the reporting part quite right. Its data visualization isn't as slick as other solutions like Veritas. For example, in Veritas, you can see a calendar that shows you which days are backed up. Veeam lacks features like that."
"The solution could improve by allowing the ability to do monitoring and traffic aggregation in the whole virtual network environment."
"It could use DR features similar to Zerto."
"Veeam Backup is not enhanced. There aren't any enhancements yet and they are still using traditional methods for snapshots and to perform the backup, like many other vendors. Another improvement would be simplifying and integrating their software."
"The recovery and integration features of Veeam Backup Replication could improve. For example, all VM integration could improve, such as with Hyper-V and VMware."
"The solution could improve by having more user-friendly dashboards."
"OpenStack is something Veeam Data Platform doesn't support, and they haven't indicated that they will support it in the future."
"The virtual sandboxes seem complex to setup, so I have not invested time in leveraging this feature. It would be nice if this feature was more user-friendly."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."
"The deduplication and compression ratio could be improved to save more space for customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I acknowledge there are concerns about pricing, specifically in gaining more customers for VM. We've encountered difficulties in convincing them due to pricing issues. So, I rate it a six."
"I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive."
"I understand from management that the DR component is too expensive."
"The pricing is reasonable and falls within the average range."
"The price of Veeam Backup and Replication is expensive."
"I rate the pricing a five, depending on the application and environment."
"I have not used the resale license in our testing environments. Sometimes, our customers used the trial license for 30 days and so on."
"We pay yearly licensing fees for Veeam in our data centers where we're using disaster recovery and replication between our many solutions, especially cloud solutions. From the beginning, we've done our licensing from a separate channel through our data center team in Seattle."
