My usual use cases for Dell PowerMax require high throughputs, so I need computing power in addition to IOPS, which means Input-Output Operations and requires a very high level. That is why I need a type of storage that is all-flash NVMe, which allows for fast data extraction as well as rendering reports in our data warehouse systems. Therefore, I evaluated many storage options, and initially, I had ExtremeIO storage, which is now replaced by PowerMax 2500.

The features of Dell PowerMax that I find most valuable so far include its all-flash capability, along with its performance, reliability, and efficiency. Additionally, it has snapshot-level features that allow me to take snapshots or backups within only a few seconds. There is no need to wait long, and unnecessary high bandwidth used for backup does not occur because I can take the whole snapshot backup within a fraction of a second.

I have used the deduplication feature of Dell PowerMax. Deduplication and compression are very effective, so despite my large amount of data, the effective size is reduced due to this deduplication and compression, allowing me to store more data on the same storage.

Regarding the impact of Dell PowerMax's real-time data encryption on my data protection strategies, I have not used that feature personally. However, in another department, my colleagues are using it, and they have not faced any performance bottlenecks due to data encryption. The encryption is very powerful, but I have not implemented that encryption in our database data warehouse systems since they are for internal use only, not exposed worldwide.

At first, I faced several issues, and our report rendering complaints were quite annoying. However, now with Dell PowerMax storage's high IOPS handling capabilities, the output comes within a fraction of a second, making our users happy.

Whatever our requirement or demand is, it has already been implemented in Dell PowerMax with its all-flash NVMe storage. New bricks can also be added if a size increase is required, allowing for additional bricks to be added as needed. Everything is in place; therefore, I do not think any other improvements are required. However, it is worth noting that Dell is continuously inventing and releasing more powerful types of storage. This results in increased reliability, enhanced data handling capabilities, improved deduplication ratios, and the fulfillment of more IOPS demand.

My primary suggestion for improvement would be enhancing the IOPS handling capability even further. Nowadays, technical teams develop code with many errors that may not be properly tuned. Still, due to the efficiency of Dell PowerMax storage, it can handle these issues without causing major problems for the end-users. Additionally, implementing Natural Language Processing at the storage level would be beneficial, especially considering the advancements in artificial intelligence technology.

I have been working with Dell PowerMax for more than four years, and I am using the PowerMax storage.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate the scalability of Dell PowerMax as a nine.

I rate it a nine because I can add bricks based on our demand, accommodating more data in the same systems without having to procure a whole new infrastructure. Adding a simple brick meets our needs, and our many parallel virtual machines can access services from the same storage in a sharing mode along with data protection. It is a very nice feature.

My experience with the technical support of Dell PowerMax has been very positive. Dell support is fantastic; whenever I raise a call, I receive immediate assistance without delay. Mission-critical support is readily available.

I would also rate the technical support as a nine.

I decided to switch from Dell ExtremeIO to Dell PowerMax because the OEM stopped support for ExtremeIO when Dell procured EMC, and I was not receiving annual maintenance contracts anymore. This led to the need for migration, and the process of transferring large amounts of data from ExtremeIO to PowerMax 2500 was very smooth and easy.

The pricing of Dell PowerMax is a bit high, but compared to other storage solutions from vendors like HP, Dell remains the best. For those in need of NVMe, high IOPS demand, and all-flash storage along with many other features, it is justifiable.

I believe some customers might find Dell PowerMax a bit too expensive. If they think no backup, no protection layer, or data redundancy is necessary, then it may seem fine to them. However, this storage handles those capabilities, maintaining a minimum of three layers of the same data to ensure that users never lose their data in case of issues. This aspect should be considered, as for example, fifteen TB or thirty TB may effectively utilize one hundred twenty TB on the backend due to data resiliency, meaning that the business will not lose their data.

I did consider other options other than Dell PowerMax for migration. I evaluated many available storage solutions from HP as well, but based on IOPS handling capabilities, snapshot features, and NVMe type SSD rather than just SSD, I preferred Dell PowerMax considering the cost factors.

I have not used the AI and machine learning capabilities in Dell PowerMax for predictive analytics yet, but I am exploring that. It is based on our database data, which is running on Dell PowerMax storage. The Oracle database operates on that PowerMax storage, but I do not know if AI integration is available in PowerMax 2500.

I use Dell PowerMax's cloud mobility feature. I am utilizing it on-premises, and cloud capability means that in the same way it is used in the cloud, I can also use Dell PowerMax storage here. It is assigned to many of our virtual environments, implemented in data-sharing or storage-sharing modes, so many of our servers are using this backend PowerMax storage. It feels a cloud solution, even though I am building it on-premises.

I would rate this review a nine overall.

Dell PowerMax is used primarily for software development, where engineers write code on these high-end computers. Dell PowerMax plays a role in my company's AI initiative, as developers use AI to help with their code, and these machines communicate with AI on a daily basis.

The features of Dell PowerMax that I appreciate most include its quick performance and good specifications. Based on previous models such as the Precision 3640s, the power buttons on these machines are significantly improved, and there has been considerable improvement in ease of use and quality of life features.

The ease of use of Dell PowerMax benefits my company specifically because it makes my job easier, as I am not struggling with a machine every day. It is helpful when everything simply works as intended.

The size and weight of Dell PowerMax are quite cumbersome. There are tradeoffs involved; a smaller machine might not be as powerful, but the current model is rather clunky.

I have been using Dell PowerMax for five years.

Before adopting Dell PowerMax, my company was using previous Dell models, specifically the Precision 3660 and 3640.

The biggest return on investment when using Dell PowerMax comes from the fact that we have recently started acquiring them. I anticipate we will have them for an extended period because they are relatively new and effective machines. If they remain in use long enough, we will realize significant returns on investment.

My experience with the pricing, setup cost, and licensing of Dell PowerMax involves participating in the purchasing process and determining the specifications we need. It has been a straightforward process; I specify the requirements on the site, and it has been quite easy. We then order it through another company.

I have not considered switching to other products as an alternative to Dell PowerMax, as that decision is above my level. I believe we have an agreement with Dell, so we will continue using Dell for the foreseeable future.

In my role, I administer Dell PowerMax by installing software on it and managing the hardware as part of our domain.

While I do not know if Dell PowerMax features specifically support aspects such as AI-driven data insights, automation, workload planning, or self-healing, the hardware is not the problem when it relates to AI. Dell PowerMax is not the bottleneck if one exists, and the hardware is solid.

I do not have specific knowledge regarding what performance metrics or benchmarks we use to measure success with Dell PowerMax. I would rate this review a nine overall.

With AI comes unstructured data through PowerScale, while Dell PowerMax is designed for compact, industry-specific open systems and mainframes. For smaller virtualization needs, Dell PowerMax 2500 is suitable, while for database or large channel-based protocols, PowerMax 8500 is appropriate. Both provide up to 65 million IOPS and 64K LUNs.

How Dell PowerMax is deployed depends on customer data requirements. For example, in the financial sector, deployment depends on how the customer wants their data to be managed. If they are comfortable with a multi-tenancy architecture, data can be consumed through the cloud. Based on compliance requirements, they may choose cloud deployment; otherwise, they would opt for an on-premises data center, ensuring data resides according to company policy and compliance standards such as HIPAA.

Data reduction is one of the strongest features of Dell PowerMax.

The snapshot capability is also impressive, with support for up to 65 million snapshots.

For AI-driven insights, automation, and advanced workloads, Dell PowerMax excels with its scale-out architecture, which allows independent scaling of capacity and performance.

The solution runs on Dell PowerMaxOS 10, which uses advanced algorithms for intelligent data placement, caching, and real-time optimization. This ensures hot data is served quickly and efficiently, enabling instant access with minimal latency.

PowerMax also provides end-to-end security and agility across environments—whether in a multi-tenant setup, on-premises data center, or cloud deployment—while delivering optimal performance for mission-critical databases, AI, ML, and analytics workloads.

There is still room for improvement in the architecture and scale-out structure of the platform. While Dell PowerMax supports data reduction and intelligent data placement, its scale-out growth model could be further enhanced. Currently, PowerMax can scale from two nodes to 16 nodes, expanding from terabytes to petabytes based on workload and application requirements, but greater flexibility could reduce dependency on pre-planning.

Additionally, improvements could be made in areas such as AI integration, user interface, support, and customizations. From a performance perspective, PowerMax has evolved from the 2500 and 8500 series, which provide enhanced features for multi-tenancy, container workloads, multi-access protocols, and channel connectivity. These models also deliver better security, higher performance, and greater capacity, though continuous refinement is still possible.

I have been building solutions for 1.5 years, and specifically building Dell EMC storage products for around one year. 

Based on my experience, I would rate the stability of Dell PowerMax a solid nine out of ten.

Dell PowerMax scales effectively and delivers strong performance; however, PowerScale scores a perfect ten out of ten as it is better suited for AI workloads and currently provides the most comprehensive solution in the market.

The technical support rating for Dell PowerMax depends on the support package selected, with multiple options available:

• Basic Support: Standard assistance for general issues.
• ProDeploy: Dell handles deployment, mounting, and racking.
• ProSupport Next Business Day: Provides part replacement within four hours for critical issues.
• ProSupport Plus: Includes a dedicated incident manager.
• ProSupport: Offers an account manager to manage technical aspects.

All SLAs, from severity one to severity four, are managed through a dedicated account manager, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues

The deployment of Dell PowerMax is straightforward, though it depends on application performance and capacity requirements. The solution can be managed via Unisphere, APEX, or REST APIs, providing a range of performance and utilization metrics for efficient monitoring and management.

When compared with other market solutions, Dell PowerMax performs admirably and is purpose-built for enterprise-class storage. It is optimized for mission-critical workloads, databases, and relational data management, while Dell PowerScale is better suited for unstructured data and AI workloads.

In the AI space, DDN platforms are validated for NVIDIA SuperPOD architectures, whereas only Dell PowerScale has been certified for NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD reference architectures. This makes PowerScale the stronger option for large-scale AI applications, while PowerMax remains the preferred solution for structured data and enterprise databases.

Coming from a strong AI background with a deep understanding of NVIDIA and DDN architectures, I bring problem-solving skills and a vision-driven approach in AI solution architecture. My expertise with scale-out architectures such as DDN’s AI400X3, ExaCluster, and Infinia allows me to understand how to train models at scale on platforms like DGX superpod requiring certified end-to-end data platforms.

Recommending Dell PowerMax depends on the application architecture, throughput requirements, and IOPS needs. For AI storage, Dell PowerScale is more suitable, as it is certified for NVIDIA SuperPOD and deployed in environments like Cambridge and NVIDIA’s EOS, making it specialized for AI workloads.

My main use case for Dell PowerMax is for mission-critical workloads. I classify mission-critical workloads to be running on Dell PowerMax, while business-critical or production goes on to the PowerStores.

A specific example of a mission-critical workload I run on Dell PowerMax is the requirement for cascaded multiple copies that would be used by the QA team. I have a QA environment where I use the cascaded replication copies, and then there are applications; Teamcenter specifically is fully using Dell PowerMax.

Regarding my main use case and how my QA or applications teams interact with Dell PowerMax, they are fully hosted on Dell PowerMax, mostly virtualized through a virtualized platform. There are some large database servers that are also directly connected to Dell PowerMax, including Linux and Windows with SQL and Oracle-based physical machines, and most of it is on the virtualized platform through Hyper-V and VMware.

Dell PowerMax has positively impacted my organization because I have workloads that are very sensitive, and they actually have a high requirement for high performance. This is where I noticed I had to make sure that I was on the right platform. For example, I have build and test cases where users need high performance tier, and I was struggling with a different storage system, but with Dell PowerMax, that has solved the problem of build and test performance requirements.

Dell PowerMax improves user satisfaction, and it has helped me with faster processing.

The best features Dell PowerMax offers include autonomous access for the host and the cascaded replication.

The features of host access and cascaded replication stand out for my team due to their reliability and flexibility.

Dell PowerMax has also been chosen because of the high-end performance tier storage, so performance is another important thing for me with Dell PowerMax.

Dell PowerMax can be improved because there are very strict guidelines when it comes to installation and the amount of control a customer has. I would prefer to have more control over the product regarding upgrades, which should be simplified, and it should be allowed to be installed in customer locations and racks.

I have been with Dell PowerMax for at least six or seven years.

Dell PowerMax is stable.

Dell PowerMax's scalability is really good; it has a scale-out architecture that works great.

The customer support for Dell PowerMax is excellent.

I previously used a different solution, which was PowerStore, but I switched to Dell PowerMax for better performance.

I have not really seen a return on investment that I can share in terms of fewer employees needed, money saved, time saved, or anything else.

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was great.

Before choosing Dell PowerMax, I evaluated other options, including the NetApp AFF series.

The performance metrics I use to measure success with Dell PowerMax include the significant improvement in performance seen in build and test use cases, which meet my client criteria.

My advice for others looking into using Dell PowerMax is to understand your workloads, and benchmarking is very important. I rate this product a 10 out of 10 overall.

Dell PowerMax serves as an infrastructure-level storage device for our entire company's data.

The features of Dell PowerMax that I appreciate most are its complete security and exceptional speed. The amount of IOps we get from it is remarkable, and we have never experienced any latency. We have never had any storage issues or performance issues. Dell PowerMax has become the industrial standard for us. Whenever any company discusses other storage devices with us, we compare them to Dell PowerMax and ask whether they can beat it. The answer is usually no.

The benefits of these features for our company are straightforward. If there are no performance issues, our application owners are not coming to us with complaints. That is the biggest advantage. Additionally, Dell PowerMax is reliable enough that we do not worry about any downtime or issues. That is the most significant benefit overall.

Answering the question about improvement areas for Dell PowerMax is challenging because it has set the industrial standard for us. Currently, there is no comparable product available. However, I can identify one area for improvement. Sometimes there are performance metrics that are missing, and we have to rely on third-party tools to access them. If monitoring options could be improved, that would be beneficial.

I have been using Dell PowerMax for six years.

Prior to adopting Dell PowerMax, I was using a predecessor of Dell PowerMax.

The biggest return on investment when using Dell PowerMax is no downtime. We have no issues with it. That speaks for itself.

I evaluated other solutions, and we have worked with Pure and NetApp. These are great solutions overall, but the performance that we get from Dell PowerMax is at an industrial level, which we do not get from other devices.

My role in using and managing Dell PowerMax is that of an infrastructure engineer. I handle end-to-end infrastructure, and storage is one of the pieces that I work with. Currently, Dell PowerMax does not play a role in my company's AI initiatives. I would rate Dell PowerMax a nine out of ten. My advice to other companies considering Dell PowerMax is to go for it. It's a no-brainer product.

In my role as a storage product architect, part of my responsibility is managing the lifecycle of Dell PowerMax as a whole and developing standards around how we use it in our environment. We are currently using all of Dell PowerMax models: 2500, 8500, 2000, and 8000.

The features of Dell PowerMax that I appreciate the most are the uptime and the reliability, as it is vital that we have consistent performance and that the arrays stay up and running all the time.

The benefits we have realized as a company from using Dell PowerMax include providing a service to our customers that they know they can rely on, and we can offer at a competitive price with good performance or variable performance that our customers value.

In my opinion, Dell PowerMax could be improved regarding pricing; the pricing is very expensive. However, there is price and value, and I think it is a very valuable product that is reliable. It depends on how you put a value on reliability, but for the most part, it is a solid product that has all the features we need and does a great job.

I have been using Dell PowerMax for 15 years.

Dell PowerMax does not play a role in our organization's AI initiatives; we primarily use it for a multi-tenant environment, and while we have some customers that do AI, I do not believe they use Dell PowerMax for that purpose.

Prior to adopting Dell PowerMax, we were using another solution; we were using a fleet of Dell CX960s, much older hardware, to accomplish the same thing. However, we could put one Dell PowerMax out and eliminate at least five or six of the older model CX series.

Before implementing Dell PowerMax, I do not know what other solutions we considered because it happened right as I started working. However, when we have conversations around Dell PowerMax, we look at or talk about companies such as Pure Storage or recently Infinidat, another company we have looked at; they have similar products and similar capabilities at a lower price point.

Dell PowerMax is a very powerful system and very reliable, and I would say that the only real downfall is the pricing.

I stay with Dell PowerMax over those solutions mainly due to fleet management; we have around 40 Dell PowerMax arrays spread across multiple data centers around the world. Moving off of that onto another platform would be costly as we have systems we bought in less than five years, so we still have plenty of book value on them and feel we can continue to use those and get a return on that. A pivot to something else would be gradual over many years, and it is not a technical matter but more of a financial conversation.

I rate this product an 8 out of 10.

I am a global solutions architect and I assist customers to make the right decisions regarding technology, and we also use Dell PowerMax for testing in our lab environment.

The big use cases that we have and that we see for Dell PowerMax are robust replication, multi-site replication, and large scale-out workloads.

At this time, Dell PowerMax is not part of our AI initiatives, but some of our customers are definitely looking at that.

I can share what some of my customers have seen with Dell PowerMax, which is that the robust uptime and the high availability capabilities have allowed their businesses to run continuously, and that almost always creates a positive ROI for the customer simply because it allows their business to run uninterrupted 24/7/365.

If the end users are happy, then we are happy with Dell PowerMax, and that generally translates to great uptime, low latency, and predictable performance and functionality.

The SRDF replication features of Dell PowerMax are absolutely the killer application on Dell PowerMax, with multi-site and multi-mode being something that most other products on the market are not going to be able to touch from an availability perspective.

I would appreciate seeing Dell PowerMax improve by having more flexible configuration options, specifically from physical configurations that are less constrained to Dell racking. Additionally, I would appreciate seeing a smaller version of the product exist. I believe there is a need for some of these robust replication technologies, but perhaps not on a very large scale, so a smaller scale Dell PowerMax would be something my customers would be interested in.

I have been using Dell PowerMax since it was released, which was probably at least six or seven years ago.

I have used many different solutions for similar needs, both for testing and for my customers for production prior to adopting Dell PowerMax.

I can share what some of my customers have seen with Dell PowerMax, which is that the robust uptime and the high availability capabilities have allowed their businesses to run continuously, and that almost always creates a positive ROI for the customer simply because it allows their business to run uninterrupted 24/7/365.

We are always continuously evaluating other products before selecting Dell PowerMax, and I can tell you we look at Pure all the time, we look at NetApp all the time, as well as other offerings from Dell, such as PowerStore, but quite simply, none of those products do the same thing Dell PowerMax does; they just do not have those same level of enterprise features.

I would give Dell PowerMax a nine overall and my advice to organizations that are considering Dell PowerMax is to thoroughly evaluate their needs.

If you are evaluating your needs and you require any of the above upgrades that do not cause any kind of impact, or need multi-site replication, Dell PowerMax is your platform, as those are some of the main differentiators of why the other platforms I mentioned earlier simply do not compare. I rate this product nine out of ten.

My company's use case for Dell PowerMax is that it's a partner of mine and it's for a WMS, warehouse management system platform that hosts all the manufacturing distribution sites.

The most valuable feature of Dell PowerMax, in my opinion, is its uptime. The benefit to my partner's organization using Dell PowerMax is mainly reliability; we have it deployed in an active-active configuration using SRDF, with VMware as the hypervisor, designed to handle component failure, site failure, and it works as advertised.

I am a big fan of the command line interface (CLI), and I'm not a fan of the UI that they've deployed over the recent years; I feel that you can do more with the command line platform than you can with the actual UI. What would be better about the command line for Dell PowerMax is that you can do way more with it, as you have more control of the platform and way more executables; the UI is limited relative to the command line.

I have been using Dell PowerMax for 15 years.

There has been no downtime with Dell PowerMax; it's been extremely reliable, easy to manage, easy to upgrade, and trustworthy as we've upgraded over the years from one version to another.

In terms of customer support for Dell PowerMax, I come from the old EMC world, and you can't get better support than Dell Technologies. I would rate Dell PowerMax support as a ten, as I have never had an issue with Dell support as it relates to this product.

I install Dell PowerMax, I support it, and I manage it every day.

My client has seen significant ROI since the install, and when you don't go down, that's an ROI in and of itself.

I think the pricing of Dell PowerMax is definitely expensive, but you get what you pay for; the way you want to measure a platform is its uptime and availability, and if it never goes down, it's easy to upgrade and extremely reliable.

I evaluated competing products years ago, but not in the last two refreshes; we won't consider anything else.

If I could improve Dell PowerMax, I would say that after using the Symmetrix platform for the better part of 30 years, which is probably the most reliable technology in the marketplace, I would recommend not changing it, as I am somewhat of a bigot and I love it. 

My partner's organization is about 5,000 employees.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Dell PowerMax overall as a ten.

We host mission-critical applications, SAP applications, and disaster recovery applications on this storage itself because of its resiliency, absence of a single point of failure, and optimal performance. We host SAP data, which is the most critical data of any organization, for ourselves and our customers on Dell PowerMax NVMe. 

With Dell PowerMax NVMe technology, we can achieve significant automation. The system allows seamless integration of more compute power and system resources into the storage. We can host different applications on the fly. The best part is it works on Service Level Objectives (SLOs). For instance, SAP is a critical application accessed by all internal users of an organization, so it requires minimal response time. Dell PowerMax NVMe allows us to define specific response times for particular applications integrated with storage. We can prioritize SAP data access while assigning different response times to less critical applications. This feature greatly improves user experience by providing seamless access with minimal response time.

The implementation of end-to-end NVMe has improved performance by more than 20%, particularly beneficial for I/O intensive applications such as SAP hosted on the Oracle database. We can also fine-tune the applications with the least response time so that the user experience is great. Overall, the performance has improved by more than 20% because of NVMe. It is a niche technology. It is being used by all the storage vendors nowadays.

It is a fantastic Dell EMC product ever competing with all the vendors. It stands out in terms of performance. You can ask for mission-critical application workloads. 

The Dell PowerMax family is evolving with new NVMe technology. Data is written through the cache before being written to the disks. NVMe provides additional fast cache, similar to random access memory (RAM), which improves overall system performance and read/write experience for users. 

The system features dense DAEs (Disk Array Enclosures), allowing for multiple petabytes in one storage unit. It accommodates bigger capacity drives within a single storage system, providing a smaller footprint with larger capacity. 

Dell PowerMax or Symmetrix is a block-level storage and unified storage, supporting both NAS and SAN. One area for improvement would be integration with public cloud services. Many users are inclined towards hybrid cloud solutions, but it remains primarily an on-premises solution. Compared to competitors such as NetApp, which integrates with public cloud hyperscalers (GCP, Azure, AWS), Dell PowerMax lacks in this aspect. Integration with a public cloud would provide an added advantage and give it an edge over other vendors.

Dell PowerMax NVMe is a recent product in the Symmetrix family by Dell. The product evolved from DMX (with variants DMX3, DMX4) to VMAX (with variants VMAX3, different families 10k, 100k, 200k), and finally to Dell PowerMax. It has been more than a decade since I have been working with it.

The solution is highly stable. Dell proactively releases patches when new bugs are discovered. These patches can be applied on the fly without requiring software upgrades or system downtime. The engineering code is stable, and the solution rates an eight out of ten for stability.

It features dense DAEs and allows for on-the-fly scalability. Volumes can be defined to grow to any level without impacting overall performance. With substantial CPU power and cache memory, integrating new applications doesn't affect existing users accessing the storage. It provides a highly scalable, redundant, and reliable solution.

It is being used in a global organization with about 10,000 users. Our clients are medium to large organizations.

Dell support for Dell PowerMax is exceptional, rating a perfect 10 out of 10. The support team is highly capable and provides excellent service. They are amazing.

Compared to previous DMX solutions in the Symmetrix family, Dell PowerMax offers significant improvements. While DMX had smaller disk array enclosures limited to 15 disks, Dell PowerMax features dense DAEs accommodating more than 15 drives. Additionally, DMX used Direct Matrix where each controller had dedicated compute power and cache memory. In contrast, Dell PowerMax distributes compute power, CPU, and cache across the storage, allowing any controller to utilize available resources.

I did not deploy it myself. Dell PowerMax deployment involves certain restrictions as it operates with a bin file configured based on specific requirements. The deployment process requires vendor involvement, though users can participate in learning and integrating devices. Other Dell storage solutions allow more user configuration, but Dell PowerMax maintains a limitation requiring vendor liaison for deployment.

In terms of maintenance, it is fully redundant. Maintenance is not really needed. Even the upgrades are nondisruptive, but to be on the safer side, we do plan the maintenance.

The solution has demonstrated significant time savings. During a DCDR setup and migration from VMAX to Dell PowerMax, what was planned as a two-day downtime was completed in just three to four hours.

Dell offers various pricing models, including a pay-as-you-go option where storage is provided without upfront charges, billing only for used capacity. As a 360° partner, significant discounts are available. The higher cost compared to other vendors is justified by additional features, vendor-managed upgrades, and superior support services.

Go for it if you are looking for good support. However, you have to see its cost. It is the best solution in the market. If cost is not a constraint, Dell is your go-to vendor.

Dell has a lot of disaster recovery solutions. In addition to hosting mission-critical applications, you can have quite nice DR solutions.

Overall, I would rate it a ten out of ten.

Our use case for Dell PowerMax is that it's our complete block storage for our environment.

Dell PowerMax has certainly improved our organization by being much faster than what we've had in the past; it's a strong product, and most of the solutions we have or have made with Dell are very fast.

The features I find most valuable about Dell PowerMax are its stability and flexibility; we shift workloads a substantial amount, and it's easy to use. 

Part validation could be improved. We've had issues with whole waves of memory DIMMs that had to be replaced in a machine, which is 32 sticks of memory in one director. It was a tedious day; we've had that on multiple arrays due to a bad batch of memory. I don't know if it's anything Dell can validate, however, it certainly was cumbersome.

I have been using Dell PowerMax for five years now.

When I speak of stability regarding Dell PowerMax, there isn't much downtime. The downtime we experienced was caused when we were doing a simple memory replacement; a support person ran a script to validate, and it shut the whole array down, faulting the array. 

To fix the downtime issue, they added a line to the actual Dell document and script as we were the first ones to run into that issue and call it out specifically. They made sure to specify what to do and what not to do to prevent future incidents.

We have 30 of the arrays, so it can grow with our organization. Scalability is not an issue.

My experience with customer service and support for Dell PowerMax is always very good; it's about the same as before. You take a minute to get to the right people, but once you're there, they're always very knowledgeable and very helpful.

The decision to choose Dell PowerMax was not mine. It was probably chosen based on its power and ability to grow and what we had; it offered better value.

I've deployed a few of the arrays myself, and it was an easy enough process; from out of the box, and into the data center, it's pretty easy. There's always a support person there to help set it up afterward, get the configuration running, and then do our actual tuning and configuration for our environment, which is pretty easy.

When evaluating Dell PowerMax, we considered more HP products; Pure was on the list, and that was about it.

On a scale of one to ten, I rate the overall experience I have with Dell PowerMax a nine. 

If I could give feedback to anyone in an organization looking at Dell PowerMax as a solution, I would highly recommend it; it's a very strong platform, and it's always been good to us.
