Offers great reporting tools and is cost-effective
Pros and Cons
  • "The product offers great reporting tools"
  • "The solution is not ideal for use in large enterprises"

What is our primary use case?

ESET Endpoint Protection Platform in my organization has been successful in offering protection against ransomware episodes or malicious attacks.

What is most valuable?

ESET Endpoint Protection Platform offers great reporting tools.

What needs improvement?

The solution is not ideal for use in large enterprises, it can be used efficiently for smaller enterprises. Sometimes, while pushing updates through the cloud console, updates do not get completed due to network dependency. The tool is easy to use but lacks in implementation.

In the future, the solution should be able to handle the network issues effectively from the cloud console. The solution is a cloud product so it communicates with an environment through a network, therefore it should resolve issues automatically or provide precise information about endpoint connection failure.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ESET Endpoint Protection Platform for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are 2500 users of ESET Endpoint Protection Platform in the organization I work for. I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

Urgent support is not available for the solution. I would rate the tech support a six out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In the organization I work for, previously we had used McAfee and Trend Micro. Our organization shifted to ESET Endpoint Protection Platform due to the cost effectiveness.

How was the initial setup?

For the setup, an agent is deployed. That agent takes care of all the audit trails and antivirus software that needs to be installed on the machines. Thus, only a communication agent is required for the installation of ESET Endpoint Protection Platform. It takes only 15 minutes to install the solution.

There is no maintenance required for the solution, it's carried out automatically through the cloud console. If there are some network issues, then the upgrade needs to be pushed to get the latest version.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's a cost-effective product in comparison to other solutions. I would rate the pricing a six out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

The solution has mediocre adaptation to different business environments. The solution provider is trying to be at an enterprise-grade but still the development is lacking agility.

The multi-layered defense mechanism of the product, including antivirus protection and the inspection feature for auditing, are equally good.

The AI capabilities of the ESET Endpoint Protection Platform are good for enhancing the organization's security posture by tracking activities and blocking the traffic accordingly whenever needed. I would recommend the solution for small and medium enterprises and not for large organizations that have twenty or thirty thousand people operating.

I would rate ESET Endpoint Protection Platform an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

The features seem okay but the console management should be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "The features seem to be alright."
  • "The solution’s console management and scalability should be improved."

What is our primary use case?

ESET Endpoint Security can be used for a small non-enterprise company.

What is most valuable?

The features seem to be alright.

What needs improvement?

The solution's console management and deployment don't compare to Sophos. There is a general perception that ESET Endpoint Security is not an enterprise-grade product. The solution’s console management and scalability should be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ESET Endpoint Security for many years. But it's not a product that we push actively. We will support if the customer has it, and I'll encourage the customer to move on from there. I personally would not encourage somebody to use this solution. If a customer uses it, I will do my best to convince them to go to Sophos suite.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution seems to be alright.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I don't think this solution is as scalable as Sophos or Check Point. I would rate the scalability of ESET Endpoint Security a six and a half out of ten. We have three customers working with ESET Endpoint Security. I am currently using one engineer for the deployment and maintenance of the solution.

How are customer service and support?

I have never used ESET Endpoint Security’s customer support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. But since our approach includes XDR, EDR, firewalls, and email encryption, Sophos works pretty well for us. The time taken to deploy the solution depends on the size of the customer at the end of the day. But the deployment is very quick, straightforward, and takes about an hour.

The deployment process is customer-dependent and product dependent. It will be around the portal, including the portal for the customer, licensing the portal, and then deploying the agents based on our deployment strategy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Customers buy the ESET Endpoint Security license for a year, two years, or thirty six months.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate ESET Endpoint Security between six to seven out of ten.

It's a solid solution for scanning customers' environments
Pros and Cons
  • "I rate ESET Endpoint Security eight out of 10 for ease of setup. Setting up ESET can be straightforward or complicated depending on the customer's environment. The deployment time varies, but it's typically around five days. We have a team of four or five people involved in the deployment. Only one person is needed for maintenance. The only maintenance is adjusting the configuration of the dashboard."
  • "It's hard to get support for ESET in Hong Kong and China. There's a number to call that goes nowhere. You can upgrade to the premium service, but there are a few restrictions."

What is our primary use case?

We use ESET to scan servers and endpoints.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used ESET for around 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Endpoint Security is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Endpoint Security is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

It's hard to get support for ESET in Hong Kong and China. There's a number to call that goes nowhere. You can upgrade to the premium service, but there are a few restrictions.

Light, easy to use, and offers good protection against threats
Pros and Cons
  • "It's light. I almost don't know that I am using it."
  • "It's not scalable in that you cannot use a license for multiple devices."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for endpoint protection. It protects end-users and small companies as well.

How has it helped my organization?

It can keep PCs and devices secure. We can see if there are any issues from outside sources or emails that are a threat.

What is most valuable?

We have found we don't have many threats. We can look at the history and see which actions get declined.

The price was very reasonable.

It's light. I almost don't know that I am using it. The solution is stable.

What needs improvement?

I can't speak to any missing features.

It's not scalable in that you cannot use a license for multiple devices.

We'd like the solution to make even more updates to ensure protection from the latest threats.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable in that you pay for a license per device. If you need more licenses, you just buy them. That way, you can expand your coverage as needed.

However, you cannot use a license on multiple devices.

We have five users on the solution so far.

How are customer service and support?

I've never used technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not previously use other solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is easy. It was preinstalled on the computer. It took two minutes to put it as "active," and it would start working.

You do not need anyone to manage deployment and maintenance tasks.

What was our ROI?

We have witnessed an ROI in terms of security. It saves money by having users avoid recovery costs when a device is attacked.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product pricing is very reasonable.

You need to pay for a license for every device.

We pay an annual fee to use the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I'm likely using the latest version of the solution.

I'd recommend the solution to others.

The software is stable and runs without any issues and users can check the actions that are taken and detected. It's easy to use.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Responsive technical support, scalability with small customers well defined, with a good interface
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is good and has a good interface."
  • "Dual management for the customer, who needs to access the local on-premise console from a remote cloud-based console."

What is most valuable?

The normal security tracking and the real-time warning of viruses or possible threats. We have not currently used the Dynamic Scanner option to set it up for their servers to be checked, but we are planning on activating that on some of our computers. The reports and the data received by the ESET console to feed also our order management tools. The CMDB that we use and have a unique solution, a unique point that oversees all the solutions we have.

What needs improvement?

The price could be a little lower and the deployment process could be easier.
Dual management for the customer, who needs to access the local on-premise console from a remote cloud-based console.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ESET Endpoint Security for the past few months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had any issues with the stability of ESET Endpoint Security.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are currently happy with the scalability of ESET Endpoint Security.  We are using it with some of our small customers and are not having any issues.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is very good. Well, truthfully, we did not have any big issues, so we do not know if there is a real case, or what would happen, but so far, they have been very helpful and they resolved our problems in several hours.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment is complex and not very easy to use for most people. You need to be a well-informed IT person for deployment.

What about the implementation team?

The product is good. It has a good interface, but it was not as straightforward as we expected to deploy to the first computers, compared, for example, to the Kaspersky Security Center. You have complete many steps to manage to deploy it. Kaspersky was more efficient, more, let's call it, Adobe-proof.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We found good pricing because we did a trade-off between Kaspersky to ESET.  They were very helpful to gain a customer at this moment in time, but the full price is probably a little higher than most other solutions.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I think that from the user perspective, it is very similar to Kaspersky. They don't have major differences. Maybe ESET has the Dynamic Scanner option which is something that Kaspersky does not have. That might be a plus towards the Zero-day issues that can come over, but so far, we did not have any use for it. We hope not to have any needs, even in the future.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate ESET Endpoint Security an eight out of ten.

A generally good product with helpful support and quick bug fixes
Pros and Cons
  • "The stability is good."
  • "We do get false positives."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for security. It's for software protection.

What is most valuable?

The integration is good with Elasticsearch.

It's a so-so product. It works okay.

When there are bugs, they get fixed quickly.

The stability is good.

Technical support has been very helpful and responsive.

What needs improvement?

It's not a top-ten product. However, it works fine.

The deployment could be a bit better. We'd like the possibility of a software install in the server segment as well as the user segment PC.

There tend to be a lot of bugs, although they do work to fix them.

We do get false positives.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for six or seven months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution does have a lot of bugs. the vendors try to do a good job to deal with them. They do a lot of updates and fixes. Otherwise, it is pretty stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 4,000 people using the solution currently. Various people from different departments are on it.

How are customer service and support?

I've dealt with technical support and find them to be helpful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are using ESET on-premises, WatchGuard in a hybrid deployment, and Tenable.io as a cloud deployment.

In terms of similar solutions, I used to use CrowdStrike, and we use Cisco AMP. We've been using Symantec as well.

How was the initial setup?

We would like the deployment to be a bit better.

However, I'm an IT specialist and don't deal with the setup. That's a different department. It was also set up before I arrived at the company.

I'm not sure if the deployment can be handled by one person or not. I'm not involved in the maintenance aspect.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's cost is not something I have direct knowledge of. I don't deal with licensing.

What other advice do I have?

We're an ESET partner.

I'm using the latest version of the product right now.

I would rate the solution eight out of ten. It's a very small product.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Easy to maintain with a nice user interface and good support
Pros and Cons
  • "The maintenance is easy."
  • "They should focus more on the offline market as well. Everybody is connected nowadays, and they want to do everything via cloud or fast internet connections, however, that's still not possible in many situations."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for endpoint security. It's used to keep our computers virus free. That's the main use case.

What is most valuable?

It has an easy user interface. The manageability is also easy.

It's low on system resources.

The initial setup was very straightforward.

The solution is generally affordable.

Support has been helpful and responsive.

The maintenance is easy.

What needs improvement?

They should focus more on the offline market as well. Everybody is connected nowadays, and they want to do everything via cloud or fast internet connections, however, that's still not possible in many situations.

The API integration with our system should be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for 15 years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability and reliability are very good. I'd rate it five out of five. There are no issues with bugs or glitches.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 30,000 people on the solution currently. Pretty much everyone uses it.

It's very easy to scale up with the product and also very easy to scale down again as well.

I'd rate the scalability five out of five.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been very good overall.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very easy. It's not complex to deploy.

We only had three engineers involved in the implementation. It was a small team.

The deployment was quick. We had everything done in a day.

We only really need one person to maintain the solution.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the initial setup in-house. We didn't need outside assistance from any consultants or integrators.

What was our ROI?

We've seen ROI. It was pretty quickly realized as well.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is very flexible. It can be per month, per year, or licensed over several years. It's really whatever you want. We do it per month in our company.

We find it to be generally affordable. I'd rate it a five out of five in terms of affordability.

What other advice do I have?

We are partners with ESET on some products.

We are now on the latest version of the solution.

We use a mix of on-premises and cloud. The cloud deployment was introduced in the last year or so.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. I'd advise others to use the solution as it is easy to manage.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
