ESET Endpoint Protection Platform Reviews

I work as an external consultant for a consulting and teaching company with around 50 employees. We teach courses and do examinations for customers that want to become certified once they complete the courses. In fact, I'm more than an external consultant yet I'm paid differently to a standard employee, and I'm using my whole technology infrastructure here.

I use ESET Endpoint Security on-premises at home because everyone is working from home now and no one has worked in the office for more than a year. For general security, I use the built-in Microsoft firewall and the services offered by ESET. And that's all, because I don't have servers.

ESET Endpoint Security is included on every machine that I have at home, including my wife's, my son's, and my daughters', because we're exposed to the internet. I also have routers which have some functions as a firewall, so that nobody comes into the network uninvited, and I have passwords for every access point.

I have 10 licenses in total, because I also use ESET Endpoint Security on the smartphones and some tablets as well. And in terms of maintenance, I'm the only one in charge of these networks and devices.

The most valuable thing for me is that when I'm using the internet and I reach some site that isn't so secure, or isn't recommended because they don't have a good reputation, ESET will notify me. Many times I will decide to just accept ESET's advice and I will stop visiting that website. In some very rare cases, I go through to the site anyway because I already know that it's secure.

Sometimes, ESET sends alerts within my own network that cause confusion. That is, it might warn about contamination, or that the VM has crashed, but it doesn't go further than that. It just shows me the alert and sometimes I am not sure what to do about it.

Regarding email security, I would like something more when it comes to preventing phishing attacks. With some of the emails I've received, I have found things that made me refuse to open them, but ESET does not seem to notice. I think that I should be better advised of problematic situations concerning potential phishing emails.

In general, I also think that there could be more in the way of advanced threat detection, for identifying advanced malware and the like. Having an extra service that could detect more advanced malware than typical antivirus software does may be very expensive to have on my entire premises, but I would consider it. 

Then, when it comes to the smart TV and the printer, I can't really figure out what's happening when there's a problem. For example, it's difficult to find out whether the appliance has been attacked or not, and it's not so easy to see what is actually going on in the case of a malicious situation. 

I've been using ESET Endpoint Security for four years now.

My impression of stability is good. It's a stable product and it's not very obstructive. I have used other software like ESET Endpoint Security and it was impossible to work because the machine kept filling up with files that they were trying to send back to their company.

I don't have a need to implement ESET Endpoint Security for more than 10 machines, so I don't know how they would handle a higher volume. I'm not sure how I could automate that, in terms of how to download the new versions, and all the security signatures, etc. I assume it can be done, but I have no idea.

I haven't spoken with ESET technical support yet because I've never had a reason to. 

I have previously used the antivirus software from both McAfee and Norton. In fact, my technical support consultant has been recommending that I go back to Norton, and I'm not against the idea, but I would need to have a better comparison to make the switch.

The setup was simple. I set it up manually by installing it on every machine I have. So it was not an automatic process, but it is straightforward enough. It took only 10 minutes per machine.

Where I had a problem was with the smart TVs. It was supposed to function there, but on the HiSense TV I got stuck because I think that the operating system is not the correct version for it to work.

I pay about $100 a year, so it's really cheap. I'm sure that if I need something else beyond more technical support, I'll need to pay more.

In the past year I have evaluated Norton, but as I told my technical support consultant, I don't have enough information to make a change. I'm glad to have what I have, even though I know it could be better.

I have recommended ESET Endpoint Security to friends and colleagues already. As a technical person, I would recommend it based on its performance and the way in which it does not block you or get in the way when doing work. Although it could do more with preventing phishing, it catches most other problems.

The solution is very good for what it is sold as, which is not necessarily a complete solution for security. And I would say that I got what I paid for. 

I would rate ESET Endpoint Security a seven out of ten.

All users in my domain use the product on their computers.

The tool protects everything. It is not just for encryption.

The product’s licensing should be a little bit better during renewals. The product should provide a one-click option to renew the licenses. I shouldn’t have to click everything to find out when my license will expire. License administration will be a problem if I have too many computers or users.

I have been using the solution for more than ten years.

I rate the product’s stability a ten out of ten.

I rate the tool’s scalability a nine out of ten. It is easy to scale the solution. Around 60 users use the solution in my organization. I manage and maintain the product.

The initial setup was simple. The solution is deployed on-premises on our servers and then deployed to our computers.

I did the deployment myself.

I rate the solution’s pricing a seven out of ten. The pricing can be a bit more flexible.

We are happy with the solution. If we want to switch to another vendor, we would have to change everything. It would be too much work. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

We use the tool to protect Microsoft 365. 

The tool offers great detection. You need time only to setup the environment. After that, it is just plug-and-play to get the solution up and running. We can also control the PC remotely from the cloud and get all the information in one place. 

The tool needs to explore security possibilities to secure iOS and Mac devices. 

I have been working with the tool for ten years. 

The tool is stable. 

The product is scalable. You can change the license model quickly. My company has 100 users for the product. 

The product's support responds within two hours once you write an email to them. The support of other alternative products takes around five days to respond. 

The product's standard configuration is straightforward. For the advanced version, you will need a lot of time to complete. You need one day for the basic setup and testing process. Another two days are needed for advanced setup due to security policies. You just need one person to handle the deployment process. 

I would rate the product a nine out of ten. You need to keep one administrator for the solution due to security reasons. You also need to test the product in your environment before start using it. 

We use ESET Endpoint Security for system protection.

The most valuable feature of ESET Endpoint Security is the antivirus for the endpoints.

I have been using ESET Endpoint Security for approximately five years.

The solution is stable.

ESET Endpoint Security can scale and it is easy to do.

The initial setup of ESET Endpoint Security was not complex because we have five years of experience. However, it is not as easy if we did not have the experience.

I rate ESET Endpoint Security a nine out of ten.

ESET Endpoint Security is primarily used to protect computers from viruses and ransomware.

The main feature that could be included in the next release is protection from crypto attacks.

We have been using this solution for fifteen years. We have some clients that use various ESET Endpoint products, and we provide regular subscription renewals for our clients.

We deploy on-premises because our clients prefer it.

It is a stable product, considering we have been using it for 15 years.

It is somewhat scalable. However, if you need just a few licenses, you sometimes have to buy more than you need. They are sold in packs, bundles and even five-user licenses, so if someone wants to get one license, they may have to buy five, which isn't logical.

We have used the technical support a little bit but more for security purposes.

We have used different solutions and are not necessarily tied to only ESET solutions. It depends on the requirements of the client. For example, ESET EndPoint Security is suitable for clients who need a more complex model of security technology. This solution is good for clients if they have a firewall like Sophos or Sophos Antivirus integrated into their firewall.

The initial setup was straightforward and not difficult. There are some complexities if you want to manipulate the software, but in terms of setup, it's not complex. I rate the setup experience a two out of ten, with ten being the most complicated.

Regarding price policy, we prefer to get quotes in Turkish dollars, not in USD. For example, Sophos provides us quotations in Turkish dollars, and then we calculate the price in USD for our clients. It's much better if ESET quotes in a local currency, especially for software. Hardware may be more challenging to sell in a local currency. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

The most valuable features of ESET Endpoint Antivirus are the search engine, easy firewall setup, and ransomware scans.

The console or GUI of ESET Endpoint Antivirus should improve. Additionally, they should provide an addon feature for HyperV and VMware.

I have been using ESET Endpoint Antivirus for approximately five years.

ESET Endpoint Antivirus is stable.

The scalability of the ESET Endpoint Antivirus is good.

We have 18 people in my company that uses this solution. In our customers' companies, there are approximately 1,000 people using it.

The support from ESET Endpoint Antivirus is very good.

We have only used ESET Endpoint Antivirus.

The initial setup of ESET Endpoint Antivirus is easy and takes only minutes to do.

The price of ESET Endpoint Antivirus could be lower. From a customer's perspective, it is expensive.

I would recommend this solution to others.

I rate ESET Endpoint Antivirus an eight out of ten.

We are using ESET Endpoint Antivirus for the protection of our workstations and servers.

The most valuable features of ESET Endpoint Antivirus are that it is lightweight,  it will not take up too much CPU and memory of the server or workstation. The detection is good and easy to use.

ESET Endpoint Antivirus can improve by having better EDR intelligence and automation. The EDR still needs lots of human interpretation. It can be better if add more intelligence to the EDR part of the endpoint protection.

I have been using ESET Endpoint Antivirus for over 10 years.

ESET Endpoint Antivirus is highly stable.

The scalability of the ESET Endpoint Antivirus is good.

I have found the support to be good.

The price of ESET Endpoint Antivirus is fair compared to the performance of other solutions.

My advice to others wanting to implement this solution is to use a cloud version. It's pretty mature and very stable and easy to use. Hosting their own on-prem server is not a great idea anymore. I recommend others choose cloud consoles.

I rate ESET Endpoint Antivirus a nine out of ten.

If they added some more sophisticated application control. If they added this feature it would bring them closer to a 10.

The features are very good.

The solution offers impressive advanced protection.

The pricing is quite reasonable.

It's fairly simple to implement.

The stability needs to be improved. There are bugs that you have to deal with.

I've been working with the solution for around two years at this point. 

The stability isn't ideal. There are some bugs and other issues we have came across in the last two years. From that perspective, there needs to be some improvement.

Technical support is, at one level, good. The turnaround on queries takes some time, however, I would say it's not less of an amount of service as compared to Microsoft. 

We also work with Microsoft Defender. From a Microsoft product perspective and stability perspective, I would recommend Defender. From the feature perspective, from an advanced protection perspective, ESET is good. 

The initial setup is easy. It's not a complex or difficult process. 

The cost is not too high. They have reasonable pricing.

We are managed risk providers, a MRSP. We have a partnership with ESET.

It's a good solution and perfect for small and medium-sized organizations.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. All features are available and they are good, however, they need to deal with some bugs.
