Secure file sharing has enabled vendor growth and simplifies controlled access for sensitive data
Pros and Cons
  • "Files.com provides very secure, cloud-based security and is a very secure way for vendors to send sensitive information without concerns about data being compromised by cybersecurity threats."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use Files.com for vendors to send inventory files, and it serves as the main FTP to send data to Amazon S3.

We create a folder in Files.com for each vendor, and a specific login is created for that vendor. The vendor then sends data information into that specific FTP folder that was created for them. An Airflow job takes the file, retrieves the data from the FTP, and then sends the data to S3.

    What is most valuable?

One of the best features that Files.com offers includes security. Files.com provides very secure, cloud-based security and is a very secure way for vendors to send sensitive information without concerns about data being compromised by cybersecurity threats.

The aspects of security that stand out include access controls. We can create multiple folders and specific logins can be given to specific vendors. Within the company, there are many folders in Files.com and access is only given to people who need the information.

Files.com has positively impacted our organization by handling multiple vendors and multiple files without crashing, which has been helpful for staying efficient.

It has helped to manage our vendors more easily. Our organization has grown from 20 vendors to 40 vendors, and they all use Files.com to send information. Information can be received faster and put into the system faster as well.

Files.com has helped us attract more vendors because it provides a secure way for them to send inventory files, allowing growth from 15 vendors to about 30 vendors.

    What needs improvement?

If Files.com could connect to S3 without needing a script to do that, it would be amazing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for two years.

Automated sftp transfers have reduced support work and save significant time
    Pros and Cons
    • "Files.com has positively impacted our organization by ensuring that our FTP and SFTP protocols are more consistently firing, with fewer issues of files not going where they are supposed to, saving approximately 100 hours of labor over the last year and a half and decreasing support tickets by 98%."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is SFTP transfers.

A quick specific example of how I use Files.com for SFTP transfers is that we have 20 different vendors that drop files in our SFTP folders through Files.com and that gives us data based on how many sales have been made from each vendor.

How has it helped my organization?

Files.com has positively impacted our organization by ensuring that our FTP and SFTP protocols are more consistently firing. There have been fewer and fewer issues of files not going where they are supposed to, based on our previous system.

I have noticed measurable improvements since switching to Files.com, including saving approximately 100 hours of labor over the last year and a half, and support tickets have decreased by 98%.

      What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers are the desktop client, which is extremely helpful, as well as the SFTP automations.

      What needs improvement?

Files.com can be improved by adding AI to the platform to analyze files to ensure that they are complete.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I assess the solution's cloud-native architecture in terms of uptime and reliability as having had zero downtime with Files.com since starting with them.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have noticed changes in operational efficiency due to the solution's support for multiple protocols; everything has become more streamlined. We can see what files are going where and when. Everything has gotten much better.

How are customer service and support?

I rate it a 10 because everything has been seamless and the support has been great.

      What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment, with money saved and time also saved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that all three were reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Files.com is to work with the support team to get everything implemented.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Hybrid Cloud

Secure document sharing has improved compliance and boosted client confidence
      Pros and Cons
      • "Files.com is expected to have a meaningful positive impact on our organization in several key areas, including improved operational efficiency, strong compliance and risk management, enhanced client confidence and satisfaction, and stability for growth."
      • "Files.com meets most of our needs, particularly around security and file management, but we see room for improvement with advanced search and filtering, enhanced reporting analysis, and work customization."

What is our primary use case?

We will use Files.com for a project as one of our client requirements, allowing them to share files via Files.com securely.

We will deploy Files.com primarily as a secure document exchange and storage platform for our clients. The main types of files we will be handling include financial documents, contracts, due diligence material, compliance records, insurance documentation, and other confidential business information. Security is a key priority for us, and we require strong access control, role-based permission, multi-factor authentication, encryption, and detailed audit logs to track file activity.

The strong factors that attracted us and our client to choose Files.com for this project are end-to-end encryption, role-based permission and access control, and multi-factor authentication.

      What is most valuable?

The security features such as end-to-end encryption and role-based permissions stand out because they directly address the risk and compliance requirements in handling sensitive business data. We appreciate strong security, usability, and integration capacity.

Files.com is expected to have a meaningful positive impact on our organization in several key areas, including improved operational efficiency, strong compliance and risk management, enhanced client confidence and satisfaction, and stability for growth.

Improved operational efficiency is one of the main outcomes we expect from using Files.com, which includes faster file transfers, reliable large file uploads, and less manual work. Files.com is deployed in a public cloud environment within our organization.

Files.com's unified namespace has positively impacted our organization's file accessibility by providing centralized visibility, easier file discovery, and consistent access control.

Files.com's security features are very strong and enterprise-ready, including encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access control, detailed audit trails, secure external sharing controls, multi-portal security, and centralized governance.

      What needs improvement?

What other advice do I have?

Positive operational improvements have been noticed due to Files.com's support for multiple protocols, including SFTP, HTTPS, and API-based transfers.

If I were advising others considering Files.com, I would suggest clearly defining your use case first, taking time to design your permission structure, leveraging automation early, using multi-protocol support strategically, and monitoring and optimizing.

I rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Automated file transfers have reduced errors and save time for our SFTP workflows
      Pros and Cons
      • "Files.com has positively impacted my organization because we rely on this product heavily and it is something that we do not think about because it works; it simply works."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is that we use SFTP and we move files towards our servers.

A specific example of how I use SFTP with Files.com in my workflow is that we receive XML files and PDF files from customers and we transfer them from Files.com to our servers and applications.

We use the SDK and the API, and it is a wonderful product.

        What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers are the API and the SDK.

The API stands out for me because we integrate it with our applications and it makes our life easier.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization because we rely on this product heavily and it is something that we do not think about because it works; it simply works. It has helped us avoid mistakes and errors, and it really works, which is the specific outcome I can share since we started using Files.com.

        What needs improvement?

I do not know how Files.com can be improved, but that is why I am going to their Files.com meeting in Austin to learn more about the product and see how we can improve our operations.

Possible improvements include the use of AI and workflow improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

        Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com's scalability is good; we have not had any trouble with the scalability and the growth of our operations.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Files.com is very good; they are responsive.

My advice to others looking into using Files.com is to rely on their product support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

        Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to using Files.com, we were using our own SFTP server, and we had a lot of trouble with it, keeping it running and maintaining it.

        What was our ROI?

I would say we have seen a return on investment in terms of time saved because once you set it up, it works and you do not have to maintain it, which is time saving.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing has been no problem; they helped us and it was easy to use, and we implemented it really quickly.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated other options before choosing Files.com, but I do not recall the names of the products.

What other advice do I have?

        I rate Files.com a perfect score of 10.

I chose 10 because it works; it is a wonderful product.

We do not use the granular permissions feature through Files.com without creating user accounts.

I assess the overall security features provided by Files.com positively; we use the security to tell our customers that it is a reliable platform.

I assess the solution's cloud-native architecture in terms of uptime and reliability as they work beautifully; they never fail.

I have noticed changes in operational efficiency due to Files.com's support for multiple protocols; we used to have our own SFTP server and it was troublesome because of failures, but now that we have been using SFTP with Files.com, it works and it is reliable.

My overall review rating for Files.com is 10.

Provides secure client data exchange and has helped maintain high compliance without downtime
        Pros and Cons
        • "Files.com has positively impacted my organization by improving compliance and client satisfaction, as it allows us to very quickly add customers."
        • "One area where Files.com can be improved is that it has a very expensive cost model that does not have a lot of flexibility in it compared to other similar products."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is providing a secure connection for clients with PHI data to submit data into our process.

A specific example of how I use Files.com for that is when a new customer gets started, we initiate a Files.com folder that has all the rules already established for our security requirements. We then, after we've set up the folder, go ahead and tie that in the backend to our process so that when files arrive from the client, they're automatically picked up and moved to our internal server. We can process the records as needed, fulfill any requests that are made, and then at the end of the process, a new file is generated and posted in a secure folder for the client to pick up and ingest into their process.

        What is most valuable?

The best feature Files.com offers is its ease of use, which is by far the best feature. It has very good user management, file management, folder management, and a web-based tool. This allows an admin to quickly add users, add folders, and change rules specific to that user or the user group. We use a number of tools that are very similar, but it by far has the best front-end user and folder management tool.

What specifically stands out to me about the front-end user and folder management tool compared to other tools I've used is the usability, which is not terribly complex, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to navigate.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization by improving compliance and client satisfaction, as it allows us to very quickly add customers. It is a secure platform and it has had no downtime I'm aware of since we've used it.

When I mention improved compliance and client satisfaction, Files.com has helped with that by allowing us to respond to new clients more quickly or existing clients when adding users. More importantly, not having downtime is an improvement. Most systems we've used that are internally hosted are subject to internal issues. If a server goes down, if the internet fails, if the power goes out, all those things cause disruptions for customers. By having a web-based model that's secure and reliable, you don't end up with those issues.

        What needs improvement?

One area where Files.com can be improved is that it has a very expensive cost model that does not have a lot of flexibility in it compared to other similar products.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for four years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

        Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com has great scalability; it has been able to grow with my organization's needs.

How are customer service and support?

I am unsure about how to assess the customer support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

        Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did previously use a different solution, which was an on-prem solution called CrushFTP. We switched because we believed it would be better to be in the cloud. We've since gone back to CrushFTP, and we're now using both solutions for different reasons.

        How was the initial setup?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that pricing seemed high, but they were quick.

        What about the implementation team?

I do not believe the team evaluated other options before choosing Files.com, which is probably why we have a perception that it costs too much because since then we have evaluated other options and have found a number of providers in the marketplace that have a more cost-effective solution.

        What was our ROI?

I have not seen a return on investment and do not have relevant metrics to share.

What other advice do I have?

I don't have anything else to add about my main use case or how my team interacts with Files.com day-to-day.

I don't want to add anything else about the features.

I don't have anything else to add about the needed improvements, as that's the only issue we see.

I give this product a rating of 9 out of 10 because I never pick 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

        Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Secure share links have streamlined the way we collect and distribute sensitive mailing data
        Pros and Cons
        • "Files.com has made the process of receiving secure documents from customers much more streamlined."
        • "A return on investment has not been seen in terms of money or time saved or fewer employees needed."

What is our primary use case?

Files.com is used for sharing sensitive documents and client lists for monthly mailings. When a customer plans to participate in one of the monthly safety mailings, a link through Files.com is sent to them where they can upload their customer list, which is then forwarded to the printer to send out their monthly safety, annual safety, and monthly mailing.

        What is most valuable?

Files.com share links are the most beneficial feature for sharing documents with customers and the best feature overall.

The security and ease of use are what stand out most about the share links in Files.com.

Files.com has made the process of receiving secure documents from customers much more streamlined.

It definitely saves time in streamlining processes. Jen within the organization would be better to speak to regular usage patterns.

        What needs improvement?

A feature that would be helpful within Files.com is the ability to easily find a share link again after it has been created. Once a share link is created, it can be difficult to find that share link again unless going back through emails. There is no obvious place within the system to easily locate it.

For how long have I used the solution?

Files.com has been in use for at least the last six to eight years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

A different solution was not used before Files.com.

        What was our ROI?

A return on investment has not been seen in terms of money or time saved or fewer employees needed.

What other advice do I have?

There is no advice to give to others looking into using Files.com. The review rating for this product is 8.

        Pros and Cons
        • "Files.com positively impacts my organization by making it easy for our partners to send us the data that we need from them for their fundraising, and it has saved my team time and resulted in reduced errors, with processes being smooth from it."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is for file transfers between partners.

A specific example of how I use Files.com in my day-to-day work is that we receive data from a partner regarding store lists or data about their registers and fundraising information, and we use that to process it into our system.

          What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers are ease of access and easy to secure portals.

When I mention easy to secure portals, I can tell you that it is easy to handle automation around encrypted files and ensuring the files end up in the right spot, at the right time.

Files.com positively impacts my organization by making it easy for our partners to send us the data that we need from them for their fundraising.

It has saved my team time and resulted in reduced errors, with processes being smooth from it. We have had no issues with file transfers and experience fewer errors.

          What needs improvement?

I do not know how Files.com can be improved. There are no needed improvements, even small things, that could make my experience better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for a few years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

          Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

          Files.com scales just fine.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Files.com is amazing.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our previous solution was sending files over email, and we switched to Files.com because this is much more secure.

          What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment with Files.com as it has definitely saved time with transferring files, but other than that, we do not have an exact track.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options before choosing Files.com, but I cannot remember which ones.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Files.com is that if you want an easy solution that works for easy file transfers and secure file transfers, the quality of life is easy, and the representatives are great. I give this product a rating of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Secure report delivery for global clients has improved workflows but needs clearer API guidance
          Pros and Cons
          • "Files.com has positively impacted my organization as we currently host our own FTP and SFTP server, which has many issues, including maintenance and stability."
          • "One improvement I would suggest for Files.com is that the documentation for certain APIs is a little vague and unclear."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is to generate reports and upload them so our clients can download them for smooth delivery.

A specific example of a file I might upload involves collecting financial data from globally, cleaning it, summarizing it, and then creating a report for the client, which I then upload to Files.com. From Files.com, we can deliver to one source, and clients can download the report either via FTP or SFTP.

That is the main workflow that we rely on with Files.com.

          What is most valuable?

The best features Files.com offers include the ability to integrate with the API, which we currently do not use but are looking forward to, and the auditing on the file system that is a huge benefit for us, along with some statistics we can get from Files.com.

The auditing feature allows us to do downloads and track data, and going forward with Files.com, I can see if a file got uploaded multiple times, allowing us to go back and see the history on the file, which very much helps me do my job.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization as we currently host our own FTP and SFTP server, which has many issues, including maintenance and stability. I look forward to using Files.com to alleviate those problems for my day-to-day operation.

          What needs improvement?

One improvement I would suggest for Files.com is that the documentation for certain APIs is a little vague and unclear. I would greatly appreciate more examples in the documentation, as real-world scenario type examples would be great.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for about four years now as part of a complimentary product.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Files.com is stable based on what I have heard.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I need more time to evaluate Files.com's scalability as I have not had the opportunity to do so yet.

How are customer service and support?

I need more time to evaluate customer support, but the response from the sales team has been tremendous whenever I have asked questions.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used a homegrown solution because we did not have full-time ops people to maintain a server the way we should have, and the people we did have were engineers, not operation engineers. This lack of internal knowledge and stability around the solution we wrote made us want to switch to Files.com.

          What was our ROI?

I have not seen a return on investment yet because we have not fully integrated into the core product, but I am hoping that some of the issues we have had due to the unavailability of our internal servers resolve themselves. This should save us anywhere from two to ten hours a week for an engineer, and I hope the performance around pushing the files is faster, which would save us a tremendous amount of time delivering the reports to our clients.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing has been straightforward.

The pricing was very straightforward, and I think it was a fair price, but I need more experience to fully answer that question.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options before choosing Files.com, but I cannot remember which ones we looked at.

What other advice do I have?

I am hoping Files.com will help reduce downtime and increase my global availability, enabling me to upload to an East Coast US resource and have it geographically replicated across the world, which is a very exciting feature.

I would rate Files.com a seven on a scale of one to ten, which I consider to be a solid number. A seven is a solid number because nothing gets a ten in my assessment, so a seven seems a very solid number.

I would advise others looking into using Files.com to do a thorough comparison of other industry leaders and look at the features that Files.com offers versus the rest, as I do not think there is a better alternative in the market right now.

Secure folder controls have simplified managing multiple client file transfers
          Pros and Cons
          • "Files.com is a great platform for file transfer, and I am really confident in the security measures Files.com currently has for enterprise data governance."

What is our primary use case?

Files.com is very convenient for managing multiple clients, as it allows data to be shared without overlap by using dedicated credentials for each client. Its strong permission controls and scheduled auto-uploads to client FTPs are especially helpful for efficiently supporting the data team

How has it helped my organization?

Files.com is very convenient for managing multiple clients, as it allows data to be shared without overlap by using dedicated credentials for each client. Its strong permission controls and scheduled auto-uploads to client FTPs are especially helpful for efficiently supporting the data team

            What is most valuable?

The encryption features are excellent and very impressive. The ability to schedule file uploads to third-party FTPs or servers is another standout capability. I also really value how folders can be fully segregated, allowing each client to access only their designated folder with controlled user permissions. Since Files.com is primarily built for secure file transfer, it’s perfectly suited for how I use it most

            What needs improvement?

I haven’t yet used the granular permission features in Files.com without creating user accounts, so I don’t have firsthand experience with how this functionality impacts user management.

For how long have I used the solution?

I’ve been with the Data Service team for five years and have used Files.com since my first week at the company in 2021.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

            Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

            It is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

            Customer support is really good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

            Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use a different solution before that.

            How was the initial setup?

            What was our ROI?

Fewer employees are needed to manage Files.com, and it is time-saving, so I have noticed a return on investment.

What other advice do I have?

Files.com is a great platform. I would rate Files.com 10 out of 10 because it is a great tool for file transfer. I am really confident in the security measures Files.com currently has for enterprise data governance. I am happy with the security features provided by Files.com. It is really reliable; I have never faced any issues regarding uptime and reliability. I would recommend Files.com.

Secure file sharing has protected sensitive internal and client documents
            Pros and Cons
            • "The one-time upload and download links and the user interface make my work easier and more efficient because they make it easier to gather and share sensitive documents in a secure way."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is internal file storage and as an external SFTP for clients.

A specific example of how I use Files.com for internal storage is that when I have documents I want to share with a co-worker or employee that should not be emailed for security reasons, I upload them to Files.com and transfer them that way internally.

I have embedded the one-time upload and download link functionality of Files.com into some of our products, so when a client needs to upload a document with sensitive information, I give them a one-time upload link via Files.com functionality so they can upload it directly to Files.com.

              What is most valuable?

The best features Files.com offers are the one-time file upload links, one-time file download links, and a user interface that is good for management of all Files.com services.

The one-time upload and download links and the user interface make my work easier and more efficient because they make it easier to gather and share sensitive documents in a secure way.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization by providing an easy way to perform these critical business tasks.

              What needs improvement?

I do not have any specific outcomes or metrics that show how Files.com has helped, such as time saved, fewer errors, or improved security.

Nothing comes to mind in terms of how Files.com can be improved, and I cannot think of anything to add about needed improvements, even small things or nice-to-have features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for about three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

              Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am not sure about Files.com's scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used customer support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

              Negative

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not previously use a different solution before Files.com.

              How was the initial setup?

Overall, my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is decent, although I had one issue with the billing team one time, but it was resolved.

              What was our ROI?

I do not have metrics regarding return on investment to share, such as time saved or money saved.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Files.com, I did not evaluate other options.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

              Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

              Other
