Cloud file transfers have replaced legacy servers and have simplified purchase order workflows
Pros and Cons
  • "Files.com has positively impacted us because of its ease of use, leading to less time to manage the system."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is for file transfers. We're typically moving purchase orders that were created from our system via SFTP to Files.com, and then from Files.com they are going to our ERP, Microsoft Dynamics.

How has it helped my organization?

Files.com has positively impacted us because of its ease of use, leading to less time to manage the system. It has eliminated an old FTP server that we were keeping around for a specific customer, helping us consolidate systems.

I estimate our time saved since moving to Files.com is probably in the hundreds of hours, as keeping a Windows FTP server would require a machine, plus licensing and management with a different antivirus system, whereas this one is all hosted, all updated, and ready to go.

    What is most valuable?

Some of the best features Files.com offers are its ease of use. The ability to get this running took me less than a week to transition an SFTP server from our on-prem, and the cutover was seamless.

The custom email system helps because the emails that go out to the customers with the purchase orders they have are from our domain.

I am extremely excited for the Workspace feature that is coming out and the expectation feature for any errors in data flows that might not be caught. Files.com's functionality is always growing, and they have been very adaptable, listening to recommendations from customers. The ease of implementation and the ease of use stand out most to me, making the process very simple.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working in my current field for seventeen years. We have been utilizing Files.com for file transfers for five years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Files.com is very stable, as I have never had an issue with the user interface or file transmission because of their platform.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com has excellent scalability. It's flexible, and since it's in the cloud, it will do what we need it to do.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had a need to use customer support with Files.com.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used an on-prem Microsoft FTP server previously, and we switched to Files.com because of outdated technology that was running well past its time, which forced our hand.

    What was our ROI?

The return on investment from Files.com is that we don't need to host a server to run our FTP, which saves us from needing a Microsoft server that requires patching, antivirus, and other software.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing cost for Files.com is very straightforward. We pay on a per-user basis right now, and if we grow and utilize more features, I'm sure we will look into an enterprise-type license.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others looking into using Files.com to set up a demo to experience the user interface and see how easy and intuitive it is to get up and running. They should also explore the potential of scale with Files.com since it offers excellent scalability and is flexible to meet your needs in a cloud environment. I have not set granular permissions to users through Files.com without creating user accounts, but I would be interested in learning how to grant permissions without creating a user. I would rate my overall experience with Files.com a ten out of ten.

We're typically moving purchase orders that were created from our system via SFTP to Files.com, and then from Files.com they are going to our ERP, Microsoft Dynamics.

Reliable file orchestration has simplified partner workflows and strengthened data governance
    Pros and Cons
    • "Files.com has impacted my organization positively by being very reliable and user-friendly, and I love how they deactivate users for you, so I don't have to go around chasing license seats and worrying about spending for seats that aren't actually being used."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is managing file movements between partner systems.

I use Files.com as the main depository for EDI files, as well as the orchestrator of moving the files between various processing systems.

I want my main use case with Files.com to be very resilient, and the uptime is near perfect while the usability is unparalleled.

      What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers include the user interface, which is very intuitive and friendly.

The aspects of the user interface that make it stand out for me are its overall simplicity and straightforwardness, and the notifications for activity within a folder are very useful.

Files.com has impacted my organization positively by being very reliable and user-friendly, and I love how they deactivate users for you, so I don't have to go around chasing license seats and worrying about spending for seats that aren't actually being used.

      What needs improvement?

Files.com can be improved by enhancing the overall training that's available and providing example use cases, as it is a far more powerful platform than a naive user would think.

For how long have I used the solution?

In my current company, I have used the solution for about a year and a half. For my prior company, I have used it for an additional four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I assess Files.com's cloud-native architecture in terms of uptime and reliability as excellent.

I haven't noticed any changes in operational efficiency due to Files.com's support for multiple protocols, as we haven't used multiple protocols just yet.

What other advice do I have?

There are far more features in Files.com than I am actively using, and in our particular environment, I think there is a lot of opportunity for using some of the more advanced security that is available.

The reliability and user management of Files.com have kept the cost of it appropriate, and we don't have to have the scramble of trying to figure out how to reduce costs for bloat or unnecessary licensing.

I am very confident in the security measures of Files.com for enterprise data governance.

I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Secure file transfers have protected sensitive client data and support compliant data exchange
      Pros and Cons
      • "I would highly recommend Files.com to any other user who is looking at it, as it seems to be a very strong enterprise solution for file sharing in the industry."
      • "Some of the bigger improvements I could see would be in the setup of users and how long it takes."

What is our primary use case?

Files.com is primarily used for file transfer between our clients and ourselves, in both directions.

A typical scenario involves a customer uploading a file to us to update our systems, including everything from HRS to our sales information as well as transfer of data for potential ordering of cards.

How has it helped my organization?

Files.com's unified namespace has affected our organization positively overall from the standpoint of it being a secure platform for us to use.

      What is most valuable?

The biggest challenge that Files.com helps us solve is keeping our file transfers secure between our customers and us.

The encryption capabilities, the use of API keys to transfer information and keep it secure across the network, and the user security allowing both high-level user security from single sign-on to MFA capability help keep our accounts safe.

Files.com provides us with the ability to protect our files and gives us a secure feeling that we can keep everything safe.

We rely most on the ability to keep our data encrypted while it's stored at rest as well as the ability in transmitting the data that it's secure through the use of encryption keys and keep the data in the most secure position.

Additionally, the fact that it's PCI compliant is valuable to us.

      What needs improvement?

Some of the bigger improvements I could see would be in the setup of users and how long it takes. It's a little tedious right now to set up users and get permissions rolled out across all the different business and user groups that we have.

Files.com is rolling out a new partner management piece of the platform that looks to help a lot with that.

Files.com has addressed these issues in the upcoming releases.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been in this position for five years now, and we have been using Files.com for about eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Files.com has been very reliable to this point, and we have experienced no downtime of any notice, so we are very happy with the reliability.

It is very stable, and we have no issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have had no issues with scalability. We have probably grown by ten times since we started using Files.com, and it has had no issues being able to support our client base.

How are customer service and support?

Files.com's customer support has been very strong. We have had few issues to call in on, but when we have, they have been very responsive and quick to solve our problems.

I would rate the customer support a ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Files.com has been a huge improvement over our previous FTP system, which was Wing SFTP, a product that we were running in-house where we had numerous issues with fraud and problems with keeping the data secure.

We used Wing SFTP prior to this solution and switched due to security.

      How was the initial setup?

The pricing setup and licensing costs for Files.com were all very easy, and we have no issues with anything along those lines.

      What about the implementation team?

We purchased Files.com directly from the vendor.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did evaluate a few options. I was not part of the evaluation process, so I do not remember which other options we looked at, as it was prior to my employment.

What other advice do I have?

The user experience with the cloud version of Files.com that we use is very smooth, everything is very seamless, and all the capabilities seem to work very well for us.

We have had very few issues with the system.

Files.com has improved the current flow that we use with our customers so that as the data is coming in, each customer's data is encrypted automatically.

The fact that as we run our file ingestion processes, the data stays secure in transit as well as keeping our administrator accounts more secure through the use of single sign-on and MFA is beneficial.

Files.com provides flexibility across our customer base to use multiple protocols to support their needs.

I would highly recommend Files.com to any other user who is looking at it, as it seems to be a very strong enterprise solution for file sharing in the industry.

I would rate this product a ten overall.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Secure file sharing between news stations has become seamless for daily video collaboration
      Pros and Cons
      • "I feel confident in the security measures of Files.com for enterprise data governance, as their security is reliable, the permission levels are very secure, and I have confidence in our safety and data integrity."
      • "The improvement I believe can be made to Files.com involves having the ability for group admin to have more user access and permission access to add users and delete users."

What is our primary use case?

Our main use case for Files.com is that we have news stations that use it to share files between each other and with their external users, and basically to share news and videos.

A specific example of how we use Files.com for sharing news or videos is that a news station may want a video of an interview with them or a commercial of some sort, allowing them to access that freely with all their current stations and contracts.

Our main use case has a unique aspect in that we have group admins, the IT managers for the station, who manage each group, which is their station, and we find it pretty easy for them to do that, with all discussions about giving them more permissions and more user access being taken from open ears and being very easy to work with Files.com.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Files.com offers include the newly announced expectations innovation.

The expectations innovation feature helps our workflow by allowing us to understand the root cause of any failures in a files transfer setting, so that companies that don't send a file as they’re supposed to, we're able to be proactive instead of reactive to that situation and get back with them on the reason why a file may not have been sent.

Files.com has positively impacted our organization as we use it every day and are very familiar with the processes of Files.com.

I have noticed a specific outcome since using Files.com, where being able to share files between stations and getting that information has been very fluent and easy to accomplish with very little issues arising.

      What needs improvement?

The improvement I believe can be made to Files.com involves having the ability for group admin to have more user access and permission access to add users and delete users.

That is really our only concern right now, as Files.com does pretty much everything else that we want it to, besides that.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com since joining my current company, so two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com is very scalable, thanks to the innovations they are always implementing and the different use cases and companies they support, which allows them to scale to exactly what is needed.

How are customer service and support?

I find that their customer support and help desk system are pretty good and that they respond in a good amount of time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing has been that it's pretty affordable, with our license renewing every year, and the setup cost appears to be good, although I have not been with the company long enough to establish that yet.

What other advice do I have?

I feel confident in the security measures of Files.com for enterprise data governance, as their security is reliable, the permission levels are very secure, and I have confidence in our safety and data integrity.

We mostly use the user account permissions and have not set granular permissions without creating user accounts.

I think overall security features provided by Files.com are pretty good.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

      Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Secure file sharing has enabled vendor growth and simplifies controlled access for sensitive data
      Pros and Cons
      • "Files.com provides very secure, cloud-based security and is a very secure way for vendors to send sensitive information without concerns about data being compromised by cybersecurity threats."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use Files.com for vendors to send inventory files, and it serves as the main FTP to send data to Amazon S3.

We create a folder in Files.com for each vendor, and a specific login is created for that vendor. The vendor then sends data information into that specific FTP folder that was created for them. An Airflow job takes the file, retrieves the data from the FTP, and then sends the data to S3.

        What is most valuable?

One of the best features that Files.com offers includes security. Files.com provides very secure, cloud-based security and is a very secure way for vendors to send sensitive information without concerns about data being compromised by cybersecurity threats.

The aspects of security that stand out include access controls. We can create multiple folders and specific logins can be given to specific vendors. Within the company, there are many folders in Files.com and access is only given to people who need the information.

Files.com has positively impacted our organization by handling multiple vendors and multiple files without crashing, which has been helpful for staying efficient.

It has helped to manage our vendors more easily. Our organization has grown from 20 vendors to 40 vendors, and they all use Files.com to send information. Information can be received faster and put into the system faster as well.

Files.com has helped us attract more vendors because it provides a secure way for them to send inventory files, allowing growth from 15 vendors to about 30 vendors.

        What needs improvement?

If Files.com could connect to S3 without needing a script to do that, it would be amazing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Files.com is stable, with no downtime or issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com has kept up with the organization's and vendor list's growth.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company used FileZilla before Files.com, and we made the switch because we wanted a private cloud for additional security.

        How was the initial setup?

I do not have much information about the setup.

        What about the implementation team?

Our company purchased Files.com before I started working with them.

        What was our ROI?

Files.com's cloud-native architecture is assessed as stable and has been reliable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Our company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Files.com a nine on a scale of one to ten.

My advice to others looking into using Files.com is to use it as best as possible because it is a good product.

There is very high confidence in the security measures of Files.com for enterprise data governance. After using Files.com for a bit, the security measures it has are efficient and very good for the organization.

The overall security features provided by Files.com are assessed as good, particularly access control, because folders can be created and access can be given only to people who need access, similar to a role-based access control system.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

        Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

        Pros and Cons
        • "Files.com has positively impacted our organization by ensuring that our FTP and SFTP protocols are more consistently firing, with fewer issues of files not going where they are supposed to, saving approximately 100 hours of labor over the last year and a half and decreasing support tickets by 98%."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is SFTP transfers.

A quick specific example of how I use Files.com for SFTP transfers is that we have 20 different vendors that drop files in our SFTP folders through Files.com and that gives us data based on how many sales have been made from each vendor.

How has it helped my organization?

Files.com has positively impacted our organization by ensuring that our FTP and SFTP protocols are more consistently firing. There have been fewer and fewer issues of files not going where they are supposed to, based on our previous system.

I have noticed measurable improvements since switching to Files.com, including saving approximately 100 hours of labor over the last year and a half, and support tickets have decreased by 98%.

          What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers are the desktop client, which is extremely helpful, as well as the SFTP automations.

          What needs improvement?

Files.com can be improved by adding AI to the platform to analyze files to ensure that they are complete.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I assess the solution's cloud-native architecture in terms of uptime and reliability as having had zero downtime with Files.com since starting with them.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have noticed changes in operational efficiency due to the solution's support for multiple protocols; everything has become more streamlined. We can see what files are going where and when. Everything has gotten much better.

How are customer service and support?

I rate it a 10 because everything has been seamless and the support has been great.

          What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment, with money saved and time also saved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that all three were reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Files.com is to work with the support team to get everything implemented.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

          Hybrid Cloud

Automated file transfers have reduced errors and save time for our SFTP workflows
          Pros and Cons
          • "Files.com has positively impacted my organization because we rely on this product heavily and it is something that we do not think about because it works; it simply works."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is that we use SFTP and we move files towards our servers.

A specific example of how I use SFTP with Files.com in my workflow is that we receive XML files and PDF files from customers and we transfer them from Files.com to our servers and applications.

We use the SDK and the API, and it is a wonderful product.

            What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers are the API and the SDK.

The API stands out for me because we integrate it with our applications and it makes our life easier.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization because we rely on this product heavily and it is something that we do not think about because it works; it simply works. It has helped us avoid mistakes and errors, and it really works, which is the specific outcome I can share since we started using Files.com.

            What needs improvement?

I do not know how Files.com can be improved, but that is why I am going to their Files.com meeting in Austin to learn more about the product and see how we can improve our operations.

Possible improvements include the use of AI and workflow improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

            Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com's scalability is good; we have not had any trouble with the scalability and the growth of our operations.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Files.com is very good; they are responsive.

My advice to others looking into using Files.com is to rely on their product support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

            Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to using Files.com, we were using our own SFTP server, and we had a lot of trouble with it, keeping it running and maintaining it.

            What was our ROI?

I would say we have seen a return on investment in terms of time saved because once you set it up, it works and you do not have to maintain it, which is time saving.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing has been no problem; they helped us and it was easy to use, and we implemented it really quickly.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated other options before choosing Files.com, but I do not recall the names of the products.

What other advice do I have?

            I rate Files.com a perfect score of 10.

I chose 10 because it works; it is a wonderful product.

We do not use the granular permissions feature through Files.com without creating user accounts.

I assess the overall security features provided by Files.com positively; we use the security to tell our customers that it is a reliable platform.

I assess the solution's cloud-native architecture in terms of uptime and reliability as they work beautifully; they never fail.

I have noticed changes in operational efficiency due to Files.com's support for multiple protocols; we used to have our own SFTP server and it was troublesome because of failures, but now that we have been using SFTP with Files.com, it works and it is reliable.

My overall review rating for Files.com is 10.
