Automated file transfers have saved time and support flexible connections for all customers
Pros and Cons
  • "Files.com has positively impacted my organization by enabling immediate file transfers instead of manual transfers."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is file transfers and automatons.

A typical workflow involves customers uploading files to Files.com, and we send those files to our partners.

In addition to that main workflow, we provide files from our partners to Files.com to make available to our customers.

How has it helped my organization?

It is a trusted platform that has worked consistently and provides the flexibility we need to allow connection to/from our customers and partners.  In addition, it is HIPAA compliant which is a MUST for our organization.

    What is most valuable?

The best features that Files.com offers include flexibility, multiple connection types, diverse notification opportunities, and event triggering.

I find myself relying on flexibility the most because we do not know what our customers have, so we accept multiple or variable connections from all of our customers.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization by enabling immediate file transfers instead of manual transfers.  It also allows us to automate file transfers to various entities on behalf of our customers to assure compliance and completeness.

Thanks to those immediate transfers, I notice that time saving and compliance have improved in my day-to-day work.

    What needs improvement?

One area for improvement is to scan the files to look for errors and alert us when a file has errors.  The team is currently working on that.

Sharing creative assets with global suppliers has become faster and more reliable
    Pros and Cons
    • "Files.com has positively impacted my organization by improving the speed of access and the ease of being able to share the download links with suppliers; we've had no issues with suppliers not being able to access the content that's been uploaded to Files.com."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Files.com is to share content with suppliers.

We have content creators, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers that create products and artwork for upcoming releases, and they will upload the content to Files.com and then share it with manufacturers in China and all over the world.

That's the main way we use Files.com; we sometimes use Files.com to archive artwork that we use on a regular basis.

      What is most valuable?

The best features Files.com offers are its simplicity and speed; it's very simple to use, and we find that we're able to upload content much quicker to Files.com than any other similar system.

Files.com is fast for everything regarding speed; there is no particular file size or type that uploads especially quickly.

I find that the way Files.com is set out is very easy to use, and I think it's fantastic.

Files.com has positively impacted my organization by improving the speed of access and the ease of being able to share the download links with suppliers; we've had no issues with suppliers not being able to access the content that's been uploaded to Files.com.

This improvement in speed and accessibility has certainly reduced back and forth with suppliers and also increased our speed.

      What needs improvement?

At this stage, I can't find fault with Files.com; it works really well, and there's nothing I'd really want it to have that it doesn't already have.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

      Files.com is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Files.com is easy to access in terms of scalability.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support for Files.com is fine.

How would you rate customer service and support?

      Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Hightail and WeTransfer, and we switched because of the speed of use.

      How was the initial setup?

      What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment as it has helped us streamline what we do; there's obviously some cost-cutting that takes place because of the time we save.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing has been fine and acceptable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did evaluate other options before choosing Files.com, but I can't remember which ones.

What other advice do I have?

I haven't set granular permissions to users through Files.com without creating user accounts, so I can't comment on how this feature influences user management.

I haven't really considered the security issues of Files.com for enterprise data governance because we don't share anything that isn't really very important outside of our organization.

Files.com's unified namespace has not affected my organization's file accessibility.

I have not noticed any changes in operational efficiency due to the solution's support for multiple protocols at this stage.

I assess Files.com's cloud-native architecture as working really well in terms of uptime and reliability.

I would rate this review as a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

IP whitelisting allows for specific IP addresses within an organization to be restricted, mitigating potential hazards

What is our primary use case?

Files.com saves large amounts of data post-TSA exit, enabling divestment from the initial company and data migration from specific mainframe teams to newer systems. This includes data updates, with usage limited to a small team and access restricted to FTP protocols on Files.com.

          What is most valuable?

There are many GDPR features. The API implementations are pretty easy to use, with SDKs that can be downloaded and utilized. It provides a lot of customizable features. We implemented IP whitelisting, which allows for specific IP addresses within an organization to be restricted, mitigating potential hazards. The granularity of IP whitelist settings, down to individual addresses. Those might be my favorite features.

Additionally, whenever I need to model something out, I can request a sandbox environment, which is great for testing. This way, we don't have to do everything in production immediately. Overall, IP whitelisting might be my favorite security feature. The setup process is straightforward as well. Also, by default, any FTP connection requires SSL/TLS transfer, ensuring data protection even within that framework.

          What needs improvement?

There is a requirement to simplify access, particularly for managing large amounts of stored data within Files.com. Instead of navigating through firewall rules, etc., users seek the ability to bypass two-factor authentication when logging in via username and password. Missing this toggle could necessitate recreating the account. Additionally, there's a lack of clarity regarding users under this system, making monitoring challenging. However, Files.com does offer SSO, which addresses many of these concerns.

The solution should show more in terms of the way we navigate things like FTP or FTPS with a username/password configuration, if not through SSO. It requires the use of an API key, among other things. There are workarounds and ways to address a few of these issues.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Files.com since September. We are using the latest version of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution’s stability is pretty fine as far as the runtime is good within SLA. There is no issues so far.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is fine if you have an existing infrastructure and connections in place. You can leverage and integrate it with your current architectures. However, if you don't have these, there's a dependency on the version and other things to consider.

I rate the solution's scalability a six out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support from Files.com was excellent. They were prompt in their responses. They would often call on the same day to set up a meeting or discuss the issue and then collaborate to find a solution.

          How was the initial setup?

          The initial setup is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The data was valuable. We needed it. The pricing is not bad for the level of service.

What other advice do I have?

We encountered various challenges with connecting our teams and ensuring seamless communication with our business clients, often necessitating involvement from network teams to address firewall rules and other technical aspects. Additionally, discovering the full extent of what was achievable within our established framework posed another set of hurdles.

I recommend its use case to understand the intent to use Files.com, especially if it involves setting up automation. It's important to prioritize setting up SSL as quickly as possible. Additionally, using SFTP would be ideal to avoid concerns about passwords and usernames. There are various options within Files.com, such as looking for mount points or using different anchors, depending on the specific needs. If FTP is the chosen method, Files.com offers a reliable solution.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
