My main use case for Hexagon EAM is working for a transportation company, specifically a Government of Ontario transportation company, where we have a lot of buses and trains in our fleet. We use Hexagon EAM for our daily operations and maintenance. For example, if a bus needs maintenance, the technician has to have a work order handy. Back in those days, they used to use paper for maintenance activities, but now with Hexagon EAM application, the work order is automatically generated and managers can easily assign the work order to a technician.

The technician reviews the work order and they can maintain the buses. Every night at 11:00 PM, all the buses go to the garage and these technicians in the field check the work orders that they are supposed to fix on the buses and then go to the buses and fix them. We also use Hexagon EAM for predictive maintenance and preventive maintenance activities as well.

I work for a transportation company where day-to-day, the technicians will perform a lot of preventive maintenance activities for all the assets, including not only the buses but also the trains that are assets of my transportation company. Technicians, managers, planners, operators, and super users all work together to ensure the asset lifespan is increased, the bus lifespan is increased, and buses are put on the road only after inspection and only when they are safe for travel.

A lot of complexity is reduced, and a lot of cost savings are also ensured with the help of Hexagon EAM application.

The best features Hexagon EAM offers include the auto generation of work orders. Whenever the time comes for a bus to be repaired, managers can quickly generate a work order in no time and assign the work orders to the crew. Another important feature of Hexagon EAM is preventive maintenance, which helps to increase the lifespan of the asset, and alert management is also one of the key features we use. Follow-up work orders are another feature; whenever the technician is working on a specific work order and if any follow-up is required, they can easily go to the checklist and mention that a follow-up is required, and it auto-generates a follow-up work order.

These are the main features of Hexagon EAM application, and added to this, dashboards, inboxes, and KPIs are also key functionalities of the EAM application.

Hexagon EAM has positively impacted our organization by providing cost savings and time savings as well. Back in those days, my colleagues and the technicians used to work everything on paper. Storing paper in the warehouse is risky because they cannot store it for long, and millions of pieces of paper are required every day. With the help of this application, we avoid using paper for good, managing inventory calculations, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, work orders, predictive maintenance activities, preventive maintenance activities, asset management, and procurement online without relying much on paper.

We can send our invoices to the vendors using the application as well, and Hexagon EAM is integrated with Oracle EBS application, making it easily integrated with many other third-party applications. We can reduce the time it takes to procure material and the time it takes to issue a work order to the technician.

When it comes to specific outcomes or metrics since adopting Hexagon EAM, we are able to create a purchase requisition in 5 minutes or even less and a purchase order in just 2 minutes. With the integration of third-party vendors, the vendors see the purchase order within minutes, so whenever a part is required for a bus or a train, technicians do not have to wait for days. They can easily order the part within minutes, getting shipping done from suppliers in no time. This has improved the efficiency of our daily operations and maintenance activities.

In terms of cost savings, this application is also beneficial because we do not need paper nowadays; we have the application that runs 24/7, 365 days a year. By saving time for technicians, we complete work that typically takes 8 hours in just 4 hours, resulting in saving 50% of time and reducing labor costs as a result.

Out of those features, I would say preventive maintenance has had the biggest impact on my team because all the buses and trains and all the assets that belong to Metrolinx need to have their lifespan increased, and safety is also ensured with the preventive maintenance activities. Safety is key because this is a transportation company that belongs to the Government of Ontario, and public travel via buses and trains occurs all day, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. With these preventive maintenance activities, we were able to fix the issues in advance and ensure public travel in a safe transit.

Hexagon EAM can be improved by incorporating artificial intelligence features, predictive maintenance features, and inventory management improvements. They can also explore adding more features beneficial for daily operations. Hexagon EAM could also extend into different sectors like oil and engineering fields, which they are already doing. The EAM application will help save money through predictive maintenance activities, leading to higher efficiency of the equipment.

I want to highlight that whenever we have hundreds of checklist items on a specific route, which has hundreds of equipment, processing these work orders takes a lot of time. The status changes are time-consuming because these work orders have hundreds of equipment attached to them and numerous checklist items. When we save the work order, it takes a long time. If Hexagon can improve the speed of the application, whether in the on-premise or cloud versions, by optimizing the user interface response times, it would be very helpful for us.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Hexagon EAM a 7. I chose 7 out of 10 because there are still many improvements needed on the EAM application regarding performance and the addition of predictive maintenance and artificial intelligence features. There is significant scope for improvement in application performance, which justifies my score of 7 out of 10.

I have been using Hexagon EAM for 7 years and 2 months.

Hexagon EAM is a stable application.

Hexagon EAM is a highly scalable solution. We have scaled it across our organization, which has around 2,500 users across different departments. It is not just a bus organization; we also have trains, corporate assets, rail services, cleaning services in the stations, and track repair departments. Around 10 to 15 organizations within our organization use Hexagon EAM application, which is also integrated with 7 to 8 other third-party applications, demonstrating its scalability.

The customer support for Hexagon EAM is highly reliable; we receive a response within 1 to 2 hours after creating a case. If it is a critical issue, we get an instant response. I believe customer support for Hexagon EAM is among the best.

I would rate the customer support of Hexagon EAM a 9 out of 10.

We have not used any other solution for our asset management before Hexagon EAM; everything was done manually on paper and in Excel sheets.

I have seen a return on investment with Hexagon EAM. Cost and time savings represent a significant return on investment. If a task requires three people to complete in three hours, it can now be accomplished by three people in one hour thanks to this application. The reduced time to create a work order and assign it to the technician is remarkable compared to previous case scenarios. Nowadays, technicians receive work orders immediately and can get started right away, eliminating downtime. The time saved translates to savings, and the reduction in labor time makes a positive financial impact.

We evaluated options prior to choosing Hexagon EAM, which was conducted by our VP. They looked into IBM Maximo, Oracle EBS for asset management, and SAP, but ultimately chose Hexagon EAM as the best fit.

On-premises

My main use case for Hexagon EAM is as a work order management system.

My specific example of how I use Hexagon EAM for work order management at a client site involves a call center at a hospital where people call in to raise complaints. The call center staff raises a work order through Hexagon EAM, following the standard work order management system process, which includes creating a work request, accepting it, shifting to work in progress, completing the work, fulfilling all necessary tasks, and closing it.

I find every feature of Hexagon EAM to be the best for me because it decreases time and minimizes paper usage, including the energy management system that integrates with other flow meters allowing all data to be viewed on a single screen. This feature was introduced in 2023 and is known as Equipment Overview 360, which is particularly valuable since few applications offer such a feature in EAM.

My clients utilize energy meters, some manual and some digital, in conjunction with Equipment Overview 360, which helps them gather data more efficiently, monitor it every second or every five seconds, and view their historical data over the last three to four years, making data management significantly easier.

I consider features such as Equipment Overview 360, energy management, work order management, permit to work system, and especially the case management system introduced in 2017 for one client to be very valuable. We adapted Hexagon EAM for health and safety, incorporating case management capabilities with root cause analysis and fishbone diagrams.

Hexagon EAM is not only about work order management; it also includes asset management, as seen in the hospital sector where we manage around 35,000 active assets and 250 plus labs using Hexagon EAM for asset management, work order management, and store management in one of my clients.

I think Hexagon EAM can be improved, particularly regarding the application slowing down or certain modules being unavailable at times. I reported these issues on the PPM Smart Community Portal, but we have not received a resolution for over two to three months.

In terms of needed improvements, I believe support should be enhanced because it has been difficult to resolve issues. Since Hexagon EAM is quite expensive, particularly for developing countries like Pakistan, it would be beneficial to adjust pricing for those markets.

I have been using Hexagon EAM for about three and a half years.

Hexagon EAM is stable, although there are times when the application slows down or becomes unresponsive, which requires service restarts. This poses difficulties for me as a consultant.

I believe the scalability of Hexagon EAM is very good, as it can be implemented on a city-wide scale.

Customer support for Hexagon EAM is generally good; most cases are resolved. However, some cases related to slowness on particular screens are still pending because Hexagon consultants could not close those issues.

Before Hexagon EAM, I was using SAP EAM.

I find it very challenging to ascertain a return on investment from Hexagon EAM because quantifying time savings in monetary terms is complex, so I cannot provide specific metrics.

My experience with pricing, setup costs, and licensing has been that the pricing is very high, and this aspect should be reconsidered for it to be more accessible.

I am currently managing four clients in Pakistan, and Hexagon EAM significantly helps them shorten their time, minimize data, and reduce error chances, especially since one client manages 35,000 active assets, which I believe to be the highest number of assets I oversee with their help.

I have noticed, although I cannot specify exact metrics, that the error rates are very low because there are few breakdowns in the companies where we implemented Hexagon EAM, especially in contrast to my earlier experience at Artistic Private Mills, where no EAM was in place and there were numerous complaints.

I have not used any of Hexagon EAM's AI capabilities.

Regarding the accuracy and reliability of Hexagon EAM, I find it usually accurate and 100 percent reliable, as the data we input is critical. If there is an error, it is typically due to a consultant's mistake during implementation.

I would advise anyone considering Hexagon EAM to implement it in the simplest way possible, as organizations often have complex processes, but not all processes need to be used, allowing for easier management of the application.

I would rate this product a 9 out of 10.

On-premises

Hexagon EAM is the main software my consulting firm uses to enable the management of fixed assets and to trace the entire life cycle of fixed assets. From the moment an asset is purchased in a company, business, or industry, until that asset is retired, the system is based on analysis regarding failures and the value that asset may have within the corporation or company.

Concrete examples of projects or clients where I implemented Hexagon EAM to manage the life cycle of fixed assets include many organizations. In Chile, there are large clients such as Cencosud, which is a company at a continental level dedicated to retail, and for them I implemented Hexagon for the maintenance of the buildings and infrastructure they have. I have also implemented Hexagon in the mining sector, in the Santiago Metro, and in many other organizations.

I would like to add that I was working on the implementation and support for a company here that is in charge of Chile's ports and also has ports in other South American countries, and with them I conducted an assessment to handle maintenance and support for everything related to Hexagon EAM. I also did this with a multinational company in Peru, Inkia Corporate, which was dedicated to power generation. With them I worked on implementations in Peru, Nicaragua, Jamaica, and several countries in the Southern Cone.

The best functionalities that Hexagon EAM offers include the particularity that it is a web application and lately it is a cloud implementation, so it is no longer necessary to have local infrastructure in order to operate the system. You just need to purchase licenses and you can operate directly through its cloud platform, and all the clients are doing that and many are currently migrating to it. One of the things that differentiates Hexagon EAM from other platforms is that it is a modular system that allows you to modify and configure it for any type of client and adapt it to their processes. In this case, it is not rigid like other systems in which basically the client has to adapt to each of the platforms. Here, I adapt to the client and obviously I also execute and enforce best practices.

Modularity and customization have benefited several of my clients, and the best part is that you can design, for example, the entire user interface so that the user feels comfortable with what they are seeing on the screen and with the information they are receiving. That way they are not flooded with information that is not valuable to them and that sometimes creates a lot of noise for the end user. Being able to develop all of that plus the internal controls that you can do quickly in the system, using SQL for that, makes it very user-friendly and allows it to be configured better and in a more reliable way for the client.

Hexagon EAM has positively impacted the organizations where I have implemented it, as the implementation of this type of system is precisely to impact costs and reduce the maintenance cost of companies. I can mention some companies that can have up to a 30% reduction in scheduled annual maintenance, which ultimately results in a valuable cost reduction for the company. The availability of each of the pieces of equipment and the prevention of breakdowns in the system for production is what makes this type of tool very valuable within companies.

Hexagon EAM is always being improved, as it has a lab and has a pool of people who are always developing and improving the application based especially on the requirements and requests made by the users themselves and the clients themselves. When they request some improvement or some application, the system is improved, and each time a new version comes out, those requirements that the clients themselves are making are being addressed. It is dynamic, which is the good part. It is not something that will remain the same. The system is constantly being updated, so the client is normally receiving everything new that is in the system and in current technology, such as AI, for example.

The platform, as I mentioned, is cloud-based and can also be implemented on-premise, but it is every day being further enhanced and resolving all the problems that might be encountered through implementations at clients, so there is a permanent continuous improvement of the system.

I have been working in this field for more than 20 years.

I consider Hexagon EAM to be a stable solution, as it is a solution that has persisted over time, even though its name has already changed several times, but it is a solution where every client that adopts it and reaches a stage of stability can then see the effects and the usefulness that the system provides to the client.

I would rate the scalability of Hexagon EAM as very high, as it can grow very quickly with clients' demands, in such a way that it is easy to integrate it with other systems such as CRM or within each of the industries, or to integrate it with systems such as expert controls, like SCADA, for example. Hexagon EAM has the particularity of growing through all the potential it has with its modules and of being a technology that, besides that, has a lot to integrate. It has a whole system of APIs and web services that also allows each of the clients to obtain both read and write information.

My experience with Hexagon's customer support is positive, as Hexagon has a good level of support with 24/7 support, which allows every client who has a question to contact support directly, and support opens a ticket that is resolved as soon as possible. I would rate customer support on a scale from 1 to 10 as a 9, as support can always be improved.

My consulting firm did not use any other solution before Hexagon EAM, as we come from the world of Infor EAM. Therefore, it is something we have known for years and that is why we went straight as a consulting firm to work with Hexagon EAM, now Octap, and we have not had any other product than Hexagon EAM as our system for implementation.

When I implement Hexagon EAM through my organization, I check with the client before closing the sale where it will be implemented. If it will be on-premise, locally, then we go and implement Hexagon EAM directly on the client's servers so that they have all the functionality that Hexagon EAM offers on their local network. In the other case, if the client prefers to go to the cloud, in this case they would be contracting the cloud services of the system. For that, we have an address that Hexagon EAM gives us with three environments and we arrange that in each environment we have a production environment, a development environment, and a testing environment. We implement in each of those environments, first starting with the development environment and then moving to the production environment and doing the system go-live, which would be in the production environment. Those would be the two functionalities and the two ways to implement it.

I have observed a clear return on investment after implementing Hexagon EAM, as these systems do not tend to reduce staff; rather, they tend to optimize staff and optimize time. In terms of cost reduction, there is quite a lot that can be done. With a system of this type you can achieve up to a 30% cost reduction, therefore I would see cost reductions more at the company level in terms of what has to be invested in maintenance, while keeping the same staff so that sometimes you can even hire more staff because this also demands a bit more administrative activity to manage each of the systems.

Regarding my experience with pricing, installation costs, and licensing of Hexagon EAM, since it is a cloud-based system, these prices actually go down quite a bit compared to an on-premise installation, where the client has to have everything necessary for the implementation, in this case mainly servers, which they have to incur expenses for. Therefore, in terms of costs it is very convenient for a client to go to the cloud. Going to the cloud means that the data is obviously in the cloud and not at the client's locations, so there are clients who prefer in this case to invest a bit more and do it on-premise so that their data is always and remains theirs. That is something the client has to examine and discuss before we can implement, more in the pre-sales phase of the product.

I did not evaluate other options on the market before choosing Hexagon EAM, as we did not consider the possibility of moving to Maximo.

Hexagon EAM belongs to Octap and Octap has several systems that allow you to incorporate into Hexagon EAM the functionality to integrate them and to be able to further enhance what Hexagon EAM is. I think that is the functionality and the potential that Hexagon EAM has to be implemented within clients and in any type of industry.

My advice to others who are considering implementing Hexagon EAM is to implement it, that it is a good product, that it is a product totally adaptable to each of the clients' needs, that it has a lot of potential to grow if they finally want to get the most out of it. Normally these world-class platforms, like Hexagon EAM, are implemented, I would say, at a very low percentage compared to what they really have to offer. I would say that this percentage does not go beyond 40% of what Hexagon EAM can really deliver. But if the client wants a good system, a system that responds and does not have problems in either infrastructure or availability, they can adopt it and they will not have any problem with it.

I would like to share that Hexagon EAM is a good product, it is a world-class product, it is implemented in many countries around the world. It has many years of development and is very well established, therefore it is a good product. It is not a product that was made recently, so it has a great history, it has a great company behind it and a good team that will be able to help with whatever the client wants and whatever the client needs. I would rate Hexagon EAM as one of the best in this niche, which is EAM, and I am giving this review an overall rating of 10.

My main use case for Hexagon EAM is to schedule work orders and keep track of equipment maintenance at three wastewater plants and stations in Atlanta.

One specific example of how I use Hexagon EAM for work orders is that there was a job that we had to complete which was to repair the manifolds in the clarifier, and we used corrective work orders in order to keep track of expenditures and labor hours.

The best features Hexagon EAM offers, which I enjoy the most, are that it is easy to use. Once you get a handle on it, all the features make sense. I appreciate how I am able to customize it to exactly what I want to see and what I want our maintenance techs to see.

I really enjoy the fact that our team uses Data Spies, and I can assign these Data Spies to our techs based on their job title or what they do in the field, whether it is an electrician, general maintenance, or an actual mechanic.

It does save us money because we are able to keep track of all the data that is related to equipment and repairing equipment. The data that we gain or that we are able to put in when we purchase equipment allows us to see exactly how much we have been spending on a piece of equipment since its purchase, helping us make educated decisions on whether a certain piece of equipment is at the end of its life cycle or not.

I have not noticed any improvements necessarily since using Hexagon EAM. It really has not changed very much in the six years that I have been working with it. In my opinion, if it is not broken, it does not need to be fixed.

I do wish there were more updates and enhancements. I wish that photos of equipment were easier to access and available to our techs while they are out in the field when they are offline. I do not know if that is just impossible because there is no internet or Wi-Fi, but they should be able to see those kinds of things. I would also want there to be a way for them to see the work orders in order of priority instead of just seeing a bunch of confusing work orders when they do not know which ones to attend to first.

I think Hexagon EAM can be improved with more in-depth dashboards.

The ability I would want to see added includes more in-depth dashboards, and I would also want the dashboards to be available to our maintenance techs so they can see how their work is impacting the entire organization and how it may help them take ownership of what is going on in the project.

I have been using Hexagon EAM for about six years, as long as I have been a CMMS administrator.

Hexagon EAM is stable.

The customer support was fine. They were easy to get in touch with, and I was able to get into Hexagon support online and get questions answered. Customer support was very good.

We previously used Infor, which was not much different, and Infor sold their EAM.

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was fine. The setup was done in-house through data mapping, so that was not expensive.

The advice I would give to others looking into using Hexagon EAM is that you only get out of it what you are willing to put into it. I would rate this review a seven out of ten.

Private Cloud

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

My main use case for Hexagon EAM is as the Systems Administrator, so I make sure that the system is up and running, dealing with end user problems and submitting support tickets to the cloud since ours is a cloud implementation. I work closely with the Hexagon EAM cloud architect, and when we want to add a new feature, I work with him to get the best way to do it. I do enhancements to the system by creating Flex SQL statements to customize usability, and I maintain the mobile environment because we use both the Digital Work and Mobile Offline applications. I perform data analytics on the data from EAM, sometimes using Cognos, which is built into EAM, and we also have a data lake where we have Microsoft Power BI attached, allowing me to create dashboards in Power BI. I sometimes set up the API connections that feed these dashboards if the information is not in the data lake, so overall, that is basically what I do.

Regarding my main use case for Hexagon EAM, it is a great system, but it is difficult because it upgrades twice a year in May and November for feature updates, so I have to stay on top of the release notes and perform proper regression testing before each release to ensure any existing processes do not break. Those are the main things I deal with.

The best features Hexagon EAM offers include its robustness and a lot of customization options that depend on the skill level of your staff. You can use the desktop version of EAM, and there are both online and offline mobile applications that focus on work order execution for field staff, which is very helpful. Hexagon EAM has a comprehensive PM schedule module for all PM-based equipment, many options for corrective work, and the ability to create detailed task plans for staff, enabling everyone to know what to do. You can attach pictures and any necessary documentation, and the alerting system contains many cool features. They are also slowly starting to implement artificial intelligence built into the application, which helps new end users with many questions, such as how to create a work order. That is going to continue to expand as AI evolves with more updates.

Hexagon EAM has positively impacted our organization by significantly lowering costs. Previously, we needed ruggedized laptops for our field staff, which were expensive and bulky. With Hexagon EAM, we can run everything on iPads, making equipment lighter and cheaper to maintain. When we migrated to EAM, we applied universal standards across all departments using it, forcing us to align our SOPs to work within the same environment while maintaining department security to prevent overlap. The reporting has also improved due to robust API web services that allow me to connect to Power BI or Excel and send data to our data lake.

A specific metric worth sharing is our condition assessment, where we utilize closing codes and condition scores on assets to run reports prioritizing capital improvement spending. This has evolved dramatically since our previous system did not collect that kind of information, meaning the assets being replaced were not always the highest priority. Now that we can collect that data accurately, it has a huge impact on both time saved and money spent on replacing the correct assets.

One thing I believe could be improved in Hexagon EAM is the scheduling function. Although it works, it can seem daunting at first to those who are not comfortable on a computer, compared to our previous asset management system, which had a better and easier-to-use scheduling module.

Hexagon EAM's AI capabilities are just getting started. The AI currently accesses the Hexagon knowledge base but does not access personal data in your tenant or gather information from the web, so it is still in its infancy. One of the next features on their roadmap is to connect the AI to your internal data, which is where governance and security come into play, though this is not yet available.

The accuracy and reliability of outputs from Hexagon EAM's AI capabilities are also in their infancy stage. It is good at answering questions about how to use EAM by accessing the Hexagon knowledge base. Issues may arise if there are customizations to a screen being asked about since it does not have access to your database to know about these changes. However, I believe the responses are really good, provided the prompt is clear, something EAM cannot control.

I have been using Hexagon EAM for four years, as we went live with EAM in August of 2022.

Hexagon EAM is very stable; in the cloud, we have yet to experience any outages.

Hexagon EAM's scalability is very good. We started with two departments and have scaled up to four, with the possibility of adding six more. It is essential to configure the system properly during the implementation phase to ensure scalability with any asset management system.

The customer support for Hexagon EAM is good. When I have an issue, I submit a ticket through the Hexagon cloud, and based on its severity, a technical support person usually responds within 10 to 15 minutes. Their accounting team meets with us monthly to ensure everything is progressing well and to measure our use of the system.

Prior to Hexagon EAM, we used Oracle Work and Asset Management, or Oracle WAM, for approximately 20 years. It had reached the end of its life cycle, and upgrading to the next version would have required a complete re-implementation. We conducted due diligence to evaluate all systems due to this, prompted by a directive from the city manager's office to unify the application across departments. Since one department was already using Hexagon EAM, we assessed its capabilities against the newer version of Oracle WAM and IBM Maximo, concluding that EAM provided the necessary functionality and would streamline procurement and upgrade processes due to its public cloud tenant.

We evaluated Oracle WAM version 2, IBM Maximo, and City Works along with Hexagon EAM before making our decision.

My advice for others looking into using Hexagon EAM is that it is a robust application. You can customize it to meet your needs, but it is crucial to have a good plan during the implementation phase and rework your workflows for efficiency. Understanding Hexagon EAM's licensing is also important since we transitioned from enterprise licensing in our previous system to needing to maintain a strict user count now. One pain point is not having direct access to the database in the cloud environment, as access is limited to the reporting tool, which can be a bit frustrating, but it is not a showstopper.

Overall, I think Hexagon EAM is a really good application. It is very robust and customizable, with both desktop and mobile components that should meet anyone's needs. If you are considering using it, I believe you cannot go wrong, as long as you implement the system correctly and have the technical staff to make necessary customizations. I have given this review a rating of 9 out of 10.

Public Cloud

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

My main use case for Hexagon EAM is that I was a developer at Hexagon, and I perform customizations as part of client requirements.

A specific example of a customization I have worked on using Hexagon EAM involved creating Flexes to bypass the standard workflow. Instead of changing a work order directly from open to in-progress status, I added customizations such as waiting for materials and waiting for budget statuses. When an original technician gets assigned to it, the status changes to in-progress. If a technician is removed from the activity, it changes to a waiting for assign status. When a technician gets attached again, it changes to assign status, and then once the technician approves it, it changes to in-progress.

I have created several reports and worked on EAFs regarding my main use case and other customizations I have performed.

The best features Hexagon EAM offers, in my experience, are the status customizations, which are easier from an end-user perspective. Users can simply go to status authorization to make changes.

The status custom license feature makes things easier for end users in that if a supervisor needs access to change a work order into cancel status, they can simply go to status auth, give the status auth user role, and then select the entity they want to do it for, such as purchase order. They select purchase order and fill in the from status to status and then save it. Once they log in to Hexagon EAM, these new statuses are reflected.

Hexagon EAM has positively impacted our organization. It was our first project, and after go-live, it resulted in huge success. The client was satisfied and thrilled, and we received positive feedback.

Specific outcomes from that success include cost reductions around 30%, labor utilization increased by 20%, and new users are adopting the systems and appreciate the product and are eager to work in those systems.

Hexagon EAM can be improved, especially in workflows. If I observe other applications, I can customize the workflow as part of not only the out-of-box features, allowing for proper customization of the flow. However, in Hexagon EAM, I noticed I cannot customize the flow and can only use status auth, which I think is a limitation.

That is the main thing I thought of regarding needed improvements at the moment, and I can send an email if I find or recollect something else.

Regarding scalability, I feel that we need an extra column, but we need to raise a ticket to Hexagon every time. Since it is very difficult for us, I think we need to find a way to manipulate these things. I had been working on Maximo solutions as well, and then the client specifically asked for Hexagon EAM, so we switched from Maximo to Hexagon EAM. Since both are in the same background, it was quite easier for us to pick up.

We have seen a return on investment as we learned several things while using Hexagon EAM, and then we implemented those to the client, resulting in their satisfaction.

We have not evaluated other options since the client specifically asked for Hexagon EAM, so we chose Hexagon EAM.

The advice I would give to others looking into using Hexagon EAM is to be careful while writing Flexes. Since Flexes are based on PL/SQL, if I mess up with any PL/SQL, I cannot save any records, so I need to write proper, optimized, and user-friendly code and add comments so if someone else works on it, they can easily understand and make changes. The same applies to EAFs. As EAF works dynamically, I need to cover all aspects such as before saving, after save, before render, and after render, writing each function carefully to avoid breaking the system. I would rate this product a six out of ten overall.

All aspects of the facility, such as taps, doorknobs, and incubators, are managed through Hexagon EAM, ensuring monitoring, maintenance, depreciation, and phasing out of the system. For any maintenance tasks or accidents, work orders are generated and managed via Hexagon EAM.

I have been using Hexagon EAM for more than three years.

I have never faced any downtime with the cloud version, so I find it stable.

Scalability is not an issue with Hexagon EAM. If we want to add more licenses, we can easily do that, and if we want to add any new module or integrate it with anything, we can do that easily as well.

We have worked with the Hexagon technical support team. The issue that we find with them is that getting to the resolution takes time. If we are working with the on-premises version, they ask for logs, check the logs, and then ask for logs again. These processes take time and can be frustrating for customers because they do not receive immediate answers, and sharing logs and discussing the issue takes weeks or even months to reach a resolution.

I would rate the technical support a seven on a scale of one to ten.

I am familiar with SAP and its maintenance module, and I am familiar with Maximo as well. However, I have not used them.

Clients choose Hexagon EAM because it is a more detailed product than SAP. In terms of Maximo, while pricing is a bit high, Hexagon EAM offers a detailed module for each aspect, including every detail and options for maintenance in every possible way. This detailed offering helps it achieve better market penetration.

If we get the data in the right format, there are not many challenges in the initial setup process. Implementing Hexagon EAM depends on the scope of implementation, and if it is a simple implementation, then it is not a big challenge. However, if there are many modules involved, it gets challenging.

We are resellers of Hexagon EAM, and we work directly with Hexagon and provide it to the customers in the region.

The ROI on Hexagon EAM depends from organization to organization. Most organizations find it hard to achieve ROI because the product they are producing is not of that value that they could achieve ROI in a year or two. Additionally, there is a recurring cost of the license each year, and that cost actually affects the business.

The pricing for this region is a bit high, and this is the main reason that organizations take time to adopt Hexagon EAM. Only organizations that are big and earning substantial revenue adopt Hexagon EAM; most organizations in this region are not adopting it due to the high costs they have to bear.

Although the customer is not using the analytics in quite detail, we do use IBM Cognos for reporting purposes. We use IBM Cognos to create and deploy reports. The reports are not that difficult but are not very detailed; however, they fulfill the requirement. For KPI management and the dashboard we have when we start the application, that is also helpful in highlighting the number of open work orders, closed work orders, or in-process work orders. Thus, management gets a high-level overview of which jobs are done and which are still pending.

I would overall rate Hexagon EAM as a product or solution a 9 or 9.5. The product is good, and it is easy to find that many of your tasks are resolved very easily regarding maintenance once you implement it. My overall review rating for Hexagon EAM is 9.

My main use case for Hexagon EAM is the purchasing cycle and work orders.

As a consultant, I help the business resolve issues during the purchase order cycle, such as when a user creates a requisition that goes to the financial system to get a PO created and sent back to Hexagon EAM for reflection, followed by the receiving and invoicing at the financial system which we receive in Hexagon EAM. I also work as an integration consultant to ensure the flow between Hexagon EAM and other financial applications is smoother. For work orders, users assign work for asset maintenance and preventive maintenance, and I help them resolve the related issues.

I use all four modules in Hexagon EAM: equipment, materials, purchasing, and work.

I believe there are many options in the cloud environment with DataBridge Pro, which Hexagon has introduced to avoid the dependency between external systems like Infor OS, allowing us to do integrations with different systems using Hexagon DataBridge Pro.

Compared to Infor OS, DataBridge Pro has inbuilt capabilities that connect to Hexagon EAM, and its drag-and-drop feature makes configuration easy.

Hexagon EAM helps the business maintain the buses by daily reading their mileage and managing asset life cycle maintenance. Regular work orders and task plans are created, which ensure that the end customer in the transport company is not affected.

Thanks to Hexagon EAM, the process of asset life cycle maintenance is easier, and parts of the organization are procured quickly. Another feature I appreciate is the automatic reordering of parts.

One thing most users complain about is the speed; I do not think it is an application issue but more about maintaining the database.

I feel that giving it an eight is a fair suggestion for different clients, but there is considerable scope to improve the application's performance.

I have been working for 11 years in the IT industry and six years on Hexagon EAM.

My main use cases for Hexagon EAM are asset maintenance and inventory management, which are primarily used in automotive manufacturing and the pharmaceuticals industry.

I can provide a specific example of how I used Hexagon EAM for asset maintenance in an automotive manufacturing industry. For one of my customers in this industry, we use a multi-organization setup in Hexagon EAM. They have a lot of equipment that creates spare parts for different automotive companies, such as Mercedes and Maserati, and they need to perform regular maintenance on the machines that produce those parts. Those machines can be any type, including a simple motor, pump, or sewing machine that stitches car seats. We create work schedules in Hexagon EAM for those equipments and the PM schedule, and based on the type and details of that PM schedule, we release work orders that are carried out by technicians who perform the work and close those work orders, ensuring a record is kept for the maintenance of all equipment.

Regarding inventory management, it was used for keeping a record of spare parts but was limited to the usage of spare parts for maintenance; the purchasing side was not utilized much. We kept a record of all the spares present in the organization, tracking what kind of spare is needed and what kind of spare is issued during maintenance.

The best feature Hexagon EAM offers is undoubtedly the work order management, which helps in tracking different types of maintenance and creating different types of work orders according to the customer's use case and need. It includes variable, fixed, and duplicate types of work orders that fit most scenarios needing work orders. This is one of the best features of Hexagon EAM, and apart from this, there are also some KPIs, inboxes, and charts that help us keep a record and provide live updates on current status, KPIs, and an overall overview of plant maintenance.

Hexagon EAM has positively impacted my organization by reducing the downtime of the assets. In the past, maintenance was tracked through Excel sheets, requiring a new sheet to be created for each day or month. With Hexagon EAM, it is easier and more efficient, featuring an easier UI to understand and read. It simplifies report creation, which has significantly increased overall productivity and helped in tracking maintenance. Preventive maintenance is now easily performed, and we can track common failures, which in turn leads to cost savings through preventing labor from being over-scheduled.

I would add that one of the features of Hexagon EAM that could be improved is the lack of vendor-side integration or a module for vendors. In most cases I have encountered where Hexagon EAM is used for the purchasing module, it has been integrated with another application designed for purchasing. This is an additional feature Hexagon could work on, as none of the vendors, whom I refer to as manufacturers or suppliers, are actually using Hexagon EAM. This creates a break in the linkage.

To address how Hexagon EAM can be improved, it excels at work management, with the majority of its functionalities focused there, but it lacks in the inventory module. Most suppliers or manufacturers do not use Hexagon EAM as their primary product and must integrate it with third-party applications such as SAP purchasing modules, which disrupts the workflow. Additionally, while there are inboxes, a helpful feature would be notifications on your desktop while logged into Hexagon EAM to speed up the workflow.

I have been using Hexagon EAM for nearly four and a half years.

On the integration side, I have not used DataBridge Pro, but I believe it is a good step towards integration with other applications. Reporting through Cognos Report Studio is good and offers most necessary features, and it is as powerful as BI reporting tools. The user experience is good, being clean, simple, and easier to understand, and does not require improvements.

I rate Hexagon EAM as an eight on a scale of one to ten.

I give it an eight because Hexagon EAM is simple to use and decently easier to understand for a first-time user, facilitating easy onboarding. The work management module effectively tracks different types of assets and performs maintenance on them. The new workflow feature for closing work orders with permissions is beneficial. The main area needing improvement is inventory management.

Regarding Hexagon EAM's AI capabilities, I know it is integrated with a version of OpenAI, but I do not have much to say about governance and security. As long as user data remains secure and is not used to train the entire OpenAI model, I believe the security practices and governance are adequate, ensuring that the planning of assets and maintenance schedules stay within the customer's environment.

I have not used Hexagon EAM's AI capabilities to answer this question about its accuracy and reliability of output.

For anyone starting with Hexagon EAM, I would suggest understanding its capabilities, what it can offer, and how powerful it is to fit into their existing equipment framework. Loading all modules and features of Hexagon EAM properly is crucial, as using a powerful application such as Hexagon EAM for minor maintenance does not maximize its capabilities. My first advice would be to fully understand Hexagon EAM and all it can offer to effectively onboard new users.
