The important thing for our use case of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches has been reliability, and there are features such as the Virtual Chassis feature, which is one of the things we use.

In our case, we use them as core switches in a network that is not very large, and their reliability and the Virtual Chassis feature work well for us.

It was one of the reasons we chose it, along with the port density; we are using the 32 port and the 48 port, which work for our needs.

Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches can be improved by having more Layer 3 capabilities; it depends on the use case.

For our own use case, which is mostly core, I would wish they had enhanced Layer 3 capabilities.

For example, with a MikroTik switch, in most cases, you get full Layer 3 capabilities, routing and switching in one box, whereas Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches have limited Layer 3 capabilities, so if they could improve on that to have a one-solution-in-a-box, it would be great.

Besides that, the Layer 2 features are really good.

I have experience working with this solution from around 2017.

Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches are a scalable solution; different models, most of them, are scalable, including the EX4300 that we use.

The Virtual Chassis provides great scalability, making it a scalable solution.

When it comes to Juniper support, I have not used it for a while because we have gained in-house experience, but when we were still using it, it was great support, rating approximately an eight.

The initial setup of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches was straightforward; it was just a drop-in setup since they act as Layer 2 aggregators.

The setup is straightforward, similar to any other Layer 2 switch.

They are aggregating customer traffic, and we did not need support from Juniper or any other third party; it was all done in-house.

The pricing of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches is a bit high, but it matches what it offers; in terms of capability and reliability, once I put it on the network, we are usually guaranteed a longer run on the network for the device, so the pricing is fair.

I started working with Junos OS around 2017. In our core networks, we basically run Junos equipment such as the MX80s and the MX204s, plus Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, so I have extensive experience in Junos, especially in terms of configuration and troubleshooting.

From around 2017, I have expert-level experience when it comes to configuring features, especially security features and normal service and infrastructure configurations.

I rate Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches eight out of ten.

I have been working with Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for more than a year.

The most valuable feature of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches that I found is the URL redirection feature because it helps customers to onboard guest users as well as for performing compliance checks. The dynamic CoA, change of authorization, is also one of the helpful features. I was able to successfully integrate these switches with Cisco NAC and Aruba ClearPass NAC solutions.

In my opinion, there is not much potential room for improvement for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. If there is anything, I will surely get in touch with you. I am also in touch with the local SEs over here who are part of Juniper.

I haven't seen any small stability bugs, but the only thing is sometimes I feel that while creating an ACL filter IDs, in other vendors, I've seen it is quite easy but in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, I have to do a lot of testing before implementing it in production. Normal ACL that we write with filter ID normally reads "permit IP any host equals to" but in Juniper it is different. I have to write three or four lines for each rule.

Regarding quality of service capabilities for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, I would rate it overall eight plus out of ten. It is good. I have never seen issues in large environments. The overall traffic flow and everything is quite under control. I have not seen the device become congested. It keeps working.

The scalability is also quite strong. I can give nine out of ten for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. There is no such issue.

For Juniper tech support, I give a six because I need to really struggle for the tech support and the way they handle the cases. Especially if the tech support is with the vendor, I need to make sure that they take a lot of time to capture the logs and then revert back. It sometimes takes a week. Customers won't agree to so much time, which is terrible.

The setup process for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches is simple and not much complex. Anyone can easily onboard the switch and configure it from scratch.

If you talk about competitors, Cisco is the main competitor for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. If I compare Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches and Cisco, whatever comes in my way, I need to configure.

I am not using virtual chassis technologies in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches. I have not worked on virtual chassis technology but I have worked on Juniper Mist, which is a part of wireless. I have configured it in multiple environments and it works fine.

The energy efficiency capabilities of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches are also good.

Regarding integration capabilities for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, it can be integrated. Nowadays, it is very flexible, especially after bringing up the Juniper EX4400 series switches with the latest Junos and all those things. This has brought quite new functionalities which are helping me to integrate with other technologies.

Regarding functionality, I don't have any suggestion for adding some functions for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches.

I am not working on the pricing part for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches.

If I have fifty or twenty rules, fifteen or twenty rules, if I have fifteen rules into four, that is sixty lines I have to write down for fifteen rules.

I gave this review an overall rating of nine out of ten.

The typical use case for Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches is that it is reliable, and the customer specifically requested this solution in their review. While it comes at a higher cost, it remains a reliable switch.

The features I appreciate most in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches are that they are easy to understand and configure.

The security features, particularly MACsec, provide enhanced security capabilities.

In my opinion, what can be improved in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches is the interface. Since everything nowadays is web-based and graphical, it should incorporate more graphical elements. While the CLI mode is good, everyone is moving towards graphical interfaces, though Cisco also lacks in this area.

My experience with the integration of Junos OS has been trouble-free as it is a robust switch. It is as robust as Cisco, though Cisco has higher market capture. However, Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches proves to be an equally good switch.

I would rate technical support from Juniper as nine out of ten. With AI features and ChatGPT available, you can get support for commands when needed. When Juniper is under warranty, AMC, or ATS support, they provide excellent assistance. This is comparable to Cisco, which also provides good support.

My opinion about the initial setup of the solution is that every network solution is complex, depending on the situation, configuration, or requirements. While you might only be using the switch, Juniper performs well in multiple roles. If the network design part is good, then configuration is not particularly difficult. The important aspect is that it should work and fit into the particular design requirements.

Though this solution is quite costly, there are definite benefits. Compared to other low-end switches with similar features, these are more robust and offer better scalability, which justifies the higher cost. For customers who are willing to make the investment, it proves to be a good switch.

I do not have experience with FortiNet FortiSwitch Secure Access.

My relationship with Juniper is as an implementer, not a partner.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches a 9.

The main use case for the Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches includes using protocols such as RSTP and VLAN for special purposes, such as CCTV cameras and Wi-Fi, along with clock distribution.

For the Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, we mainly use them as end-user switches, so we are not required to implement advanced level configurations. We are using only VLAN, RSTP, and mirroring, including remote mirroring and local mirroring.

I am satisfied with the Juniper quality of services capabilities and energy efficiency Ethernet capabilities of the Juniper products.

The main benefits that solutions such as the Juniper products provide are their reliability. We are using the Juniper MX 104 L3 switches and SRX 1500 firewall since 2019, and we have not faced a single failure. They are highly reliable products, especially in the railway environment.

In my opinion, Juniper can make the EX Series Ethernet Switches better by increasing the maximum supported temperature of the EX 4300, which is currently only 45 degrees, to 65 degrees.

The environmental temperature must be supported up to 65 degrees.

I have been working with the Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches since 2019.

I will give the stability a rating of 8.5.

For Juniper technical support and customer service, I would rate them as 8.

The setup process is complex, as it involves a large WAN network, approximately 1,000-plus kilometer WAN network.

The pricing for the Juniper product is expensive.

It is rated high on the scale, and I would say it is definitely on the high side, confirming a rating of one, which means it is very expensive.

I am currently using the Juniper products, including the SRX and MX, and EX Series Ethernet Switches.

I am using the SRX3 firewall, MX104, SRX 300, MX104, EX 4300, and EX 2300.

I am not working with virtual chassis technologies in the Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches.

We are not using any cloud service such as AWS or Azure. We utilize our private IT infrastructure and have deployed a 1,000 kilometer large network of our own internal fiber network without involving any third-party virtualization or cloud solutions.

We are using three series: first, the MX104, which is completely L3; second, the EX 4300, which is L2; third, the EX 2300, which is the L2 PoE, along with the SRX 1500 firewall.

I usually interact with their level three team for software bugs or hardware-related issues. I find them very competent. MIST-AI has reduced support tickets and customer can trouble shoot network issue with marvis.

The configuration is user-friendly, with few clicks through process when using Mist.  after day0 , you can quickly deploy enterprise switching and Wi-Fi from MIST. right over deployment customer can trouble shoot network marvis by asking queries

In terms of pricing, the Juniper EX Series is cost-effective compared to competitors like Cisco. The platform can be managed from Mist Cloud, allowing EX switches and Mist access points to be managed from the same platform.

In comparison to solutions like other vendors, the Juniper EX Series has a separate control and forwarding plane, easier virtual chassis setup, and free learning resources which are significant advantages. I would rate the solution a nine out of ten due to the improvement brought by AI features and overall scalability.

We deal mostly with Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches products, as we are partners with Juniper products.

We work with Juniper wireless. We deal with all the Juniper products and also Cisco and Huawei.

We usually recommend Juniper Wireless for wireless anywhere.

I think Juniper also provides the best wireless. In Bangladesh, most of the wireless products are using Cisco and Ruckus, such as KVM, and Meraki is also popular for Wi-Fi. Most of our customers are using Wi-Fi.

We usually recommend Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for bigger companies.

We recommend Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for both smaller and bigger companies, but Juniper is perfect for internet ISPs; Ethernet service providers find Juniper ideal.

I have experience with the implementation of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches.

Regarding the deployment of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches, I find Juniper products to be fantastic, but there is one problem: Juniper does not have small routers. While Juniper does have routers, most of the time, users rely on Cisco Firewalls as routers.

Everything is okay, but Juniper needs to improve technical support for partners. Additionally, there is currently no available Juniper account manager in Bangladesh, and it is important to focus on the Bangladesh market.

It is a huge opportunity in the Bangladesh market.

I use Juniper EX series switches for various purposes, including in larger enterprises and software companies. They are proposed for connectivity in VoIP environments using multiple VLAN ID configurations. 

Additionally, I recommend Juniper for CCTV, IP telephony, and data communication.

Juniper EX series switches offer great technology, particularly their Virtual Chassis technology, which is an excellent feature for stacking switches and functions like a single virtual switch. The EX series provides a separation of control, management, and data planes, reducing the attack surface area, ensuring a lesser extent of vulnerability. The PoE budget is commendable, and they manage connectivity effectively.

Juniper should consider reducing its pricing. The Mist licenses are quite expensive and should be more affordable.

I have been working with Juniper EX series for about four to five years.

The hardware is very stable, and I have not faced any issues with it. The power backup and proper earthing ensure reliable performance.

The EX series supports scalability well, with newer series like EX4100 offering stacking of up to eight switches. However, EX3400 is better compared to EX2300 in virtual chassis and stacking capabilities.

Juniper's support is excellent, and I have not faced any hardware issues requiring support due to the stable nature of their products. I rate their support ten out of ten.

The pricing for Juniper EX series has increased due to the rising dollar rate, fluctuating exchange rates, import duties, and taxes in India. The switches have become more expensive than before.

As far as technology and WAN assurance are concerned, I rate Juniper switch ten out of ten. 

Anybody would recommend this product for its performance and power features. 

I use Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for access switch purposes, specifically for switches that face our end devices such as access points and workstations.

The most beneficial feature of this solution for network efficiency is the virtual chassis.

Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches help me save funds because, compared to Cisco devices, it has a lower price, making it quite safe for our budget.

I currently don't want to improve anything in Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches as I don't have any issues with the switch.

In the next update, I would want to see new features.

Some integration with AI could be a good idea since I heard that Juniper already has systems to deploy AI within the EX device, but I haven't had the opportunity to try that.

In the future, I want to see better and optimized AI.

Regarding how Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches handle network traffic during peak loads, I find it quite stable. During peak time at nine, the traffic passes through the switches perfectly, and we have had no issues with the bandwidth and traffic for the EX switch.

In my last position, I didn't frequently contact the tech support of Juniper, but in my previous position, I found the tech support quite helpful.

For a single switch installation, it takes around 30 minutes.

I did the implementation by myself without any help.

There are other products in my organization, but we use Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches for approximately 85% of our needs.

Currently, there are no extra expenses or services that I need to pay for.

The security capabilities of Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches are comparable to other brands, so there are no additional points for Juniper regarding the security systems.

Regarding stability, I would rate Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches a nine out of ten.

I would recommend Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches to other organizations because it is easy to use, the command is easy to learn, and it is very stable.

I chose Juniper as my primary vendor because it is very stable, reliable, and the price is lower than competitors.

I am the person who usually does the maintenance alone. In my office, my two colleagues and I are the network engineers directly responsible for the operation of the EX devices.

The number of users in my organization who have access to Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches is around 17 people.

Overall, I would rate Juniper EX Series Ethernet Switches an eight out of ten.

The version we're using depends on the model. We use QFX a lot, including versions 5100, 5110, and 5120. For the 4300 and 4400 campus switches, we're running version 21.4.

The solution is deployed on-premises. Juniper doesn't support cloud. 

Juniper just bought an orchestration management platform called Abstract.
Abstract is all greenfield, meaning that it's designed to be built from the ground up. You can't incorporate it with the existing infrastructure.

We have over a million users. I work for AWS, so we do a lot of deployment in Juniper.

If you know Juniper syntax, it's simple to deploy, simple to set up, very cheap, and cost effective for an average network.

Juniper is really good when it comes to the MX router, like edge devices for service providers. The hardware is solid, and a lot of ISPs use MX routers. The SRX firewall is pretty good.

The campus switches and access switches are the most valuable and simple to deploy for Virtual Chassis. Other than that, I don't recommend QFX10000 or 5000.

If we're building a data center and have Juniper, we have hundreds of Juniper switches in a leaf and spine design architecture, and it's horrible. Sometimes after an upgrade, half of the even port can't be detected. They don't recognize third-party SFPs, and now they claim that they don't support that anymore. There are a lot of issues with the hardware and software.

Juniper needs to get their code up to par because it isn't stable enough for a  leaf and spine design.

If you have over 10,000 VMs or Mac addresses, it doesn't scale.

I would love Juniper to have more stable features, hardware, and code. We have so many tickets open with Juniper. The switch reboot doesn't detect the port.

About 80% of my problems aren't engineering problems, but are Juniper's problems. In comparison, Arista gives me 10% of the problems that Juniper gives me when it comes to hardware and software.

It's falling behind compared to Palo Alto because of its features. Juniper's campus switches and data center switches for the leaf and spine design for the overlay and underlay is horrible. I wouldn't recommend that anyone use Juniper fabric, because there are so many problems, issues, and features that aren't supported.

I have used Juniper ethernet switches for 20 years.

I would rate the stability as five out of ten.

I would rate the scalability as five out of ten.

If you exceed 10,000 or 15,000 Mac addresses, it becomes unscalable and the network becomes very slow. There are a lot of figures within the data center that Juniper hasn't come up to speed. Now, they claim that they don't support CRB anymore. They support symmetrical IRB, and they support dynamic BGP. 

I would rate technical support as five out of five.

Setup is easy.

For the QFX5000 Juniper switches, the price is about $10,000, but they would probably sell it for $1,000. Nobody can beat Juniper's pricing when it comes to switches. Juniper out-prices everybody, but they get you on the back end, maintenance, service port, and service contract.

It's $3-5 million a year just in service contracts, support maintenance, and service agreements to support Juniper features for thousands of switches. I don't see a good ROI on Juniper because a lot of time is spent on troubleshooting. With Arista, you buy $50,000 switches, but they're stable. They're pretty solid when it comes to the code and hardware.

I evaluated Cisco ACI and DNA.

I also evaluated Arista, but a certain company didn't want to go with it because they didn't have the budget. Arista isn't cost effective because it's very expensive.

I would rate Juniper as six out of ten.

It's not a bad product, but there are a lot of bad features, code, and hardware. Juniper does ethernet switching, but they also do campus switching and access switching. Those are very basic setups. They also do next generation data centers. You're supporting these compute nodes, storage, and DNS. The next generation data center fabric is horrible. I built a leaf and spine design in Juniper, but we can't get the MC-LAG to work properly, so we have to use ESI-LAG.

We can't use type five EVPN. We have to use type two EVPN. When you're dealing with internal routing like IBGP, it's very hard to troubleshoot. You can't use features like ASPAP, local preference, and other things like route maps and prefixes. You can't really do any of that because it's all internal.

I wouldn't recommend Juniper. If you want to implement it, then evaluate what you're trying to do. If you're doing a lot of campus switches and access switches, then it's fine. If you're doing a lot of policy-based, zero trust, and micro segmentation, and all these parameters are being driven by security, my advice is not to use it.

Many companies, especially trading companies, stock market companies, hedge funds, and banking companies all use Arista for their lower EC platforms, high speed, and high throughput. I build a lot of major corporations, so I see a lot of companies that do that.
