Easy to install with good technical support but needs better synchronization

What is our primary use case?

The solution is primarily used for people who want to manage their mobile devices.

How has it helped my organization?

It's difficult to describe how we've been able to improve our organization specifically with this solution.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of the product is that we are able to send application deployments and certifications for conditional access.

The solution is very easy to install.

The stability is good.

You can scale the solution if you need to.

Technical support is helpful. 

What needs improvement?

The MacBook management could be better. 

They should have better integration with, for example, Apple.

The synchronization could be improved.

They need to work on providing better troubleshooting techniques.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for two years. 

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a very stable solution. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have found the solution to be scalable. 

We have about 20 clients using the product. Typically, the users would be managers or assistant administrators. 

How are customer service and support?

We've used technical support in the past. They are very fast and they know what they are talking about. We're happy with the level of support we get.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation process is simple. It's very straightforward. 

I'd rate the overall initial setup process at a four out of five. 

Deployment times vary. It depends on the product. Our clients, for example, we're deploying it to all of their mobile devices. We use architects and engineers for the deployment process. How many we need depends on the project. We typically need, let's say, one architect and then, depending on the size of the project, one or more engineers.

What about the implementation team?

We can integrate the product for our clients if they need us to.

What was our ROI?

I can't speak to seeing any specific ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Customers do have to pay a licensing fee. Our clients pay a monthly subscription cost.

I cannot speak to the exact price as the licensing is complex. 

It's decent, however. I would rate it at a four out of five.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did look at other solutions. The one we did look at closely was more for larger organizations in the manufacturing industry, which wouldn't have fit with our needs. 

What other advice do I have?

We are Microsoft partners.

We are integrating the solution for our clients. 

I'd recommend the solution to others. With Intune, many companies may already have the product if they are also already using Microsoft.

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten.

Effective data security, useful manager, and simple installation

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Intune to secure our mobile access when you're assessing your data from your mobile. Additionally, we use the solution to limit people from transferring files to people that are not part of our domain, and secure company data from exposure.

What is most valuable?

The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types, we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager(MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company detail on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the  Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data.

What needs improvement?

We are always working with Microsoft on improvements. Improvement is not something that is static, we are always looking for a dynamic way of working with Microsoft. We have a support and enterprise agreement with Microsoft. Every quarter, we review the performance of all our solutions and then we ask for further improvement.

In the next release, I would like a feature to be able to properly lock down the device. For example, if an attacker or somebody steals the phone, you can be sure that the pin cannot be broken.

I have been using Microsoft Intune for approximately four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have found Microsoft Intune to be stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Intune is scalable.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is not complex.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others to ensure that the technical people are well versatile and trained, especially the technical people that will implement Microsoft Intune.

What is most valuable?

Being able to use it to control phones is the most valuable feature. 

What needs improvement?

It's a developing product, so there's lots of room for improvement. There's a lot of stuff we couldn't do because Google and Apple prevent you from doing a lot of the stuff you'd like to do. 

Microsoft documentation is a bit hard to get around, so having more control over devices would be good.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Intune for about a year or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We had no problems with stability.

How was the initial setup?

It's hard to find the information to work out what you need to configure, but it's easy once you get to know how to work it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is pretty good.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it an eight out of ten.

Great patch management and reasonable pricing

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Endpoint Manager for patch management and software and application deployment. We also use it to engage with the user to be flexible and encourage them to use our organizational tool in their home or country, along with Microsoft 365 features and VDI.

How has it helped my organization?

Microsoft Endpoint Manager's patch management has been the most helpful to us. However, Microsoft Endpoint Manager has a lot of features. We could use it for cost management, inventory, and security purposes. But, bottomline, its best feature is patch management.

What needs improvement?

No tool is 100% perfect. An issue we have run into with Microsoft Endpoint Manager is that we cannot patch third-party products like Adobe and Chrome with it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have more than 10 years of experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Endpoint Manager is scalable. We have not run into any issues. 

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not easy for me.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is reasonable. Microsoft Endpoint Manager is not expensive overall, especially for small environments. But for enterprises with more than 6,000 or 7,000 users, it can start to get a little expensive.

I'm a solution architect. When I put up a new solution for managing devices, I prefer to put it on Microsoft Intune.

What is most valuable?

At the moment, Autopilot is the most valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

The main disadvantage seen today is regarding Linux clients. We have a lot of development resources that have Linux on their clients, and we can't manage them on the same platform, as we do with other clients such as macOS and Windows. So, it should have support for Linux clients. It should also have better support for macOS.

I have been familiar with it since it was released.

It is very stable.

It is scalable.

It depends on the technology for which you ask them for support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are also working with VMware Workspace ONE. When comparing these two products, I prefer Intune.

It is simple. It is easier than easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is reasonable. When you have Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license, it is already licensed in that license. So, you could say it is free.

What other advice do I have?

It is quite easy to get people who understand the technology. For other platforms, at least in Sweden, there are not so many technicians who understand the technology.

I would rate it an eight out of 10.

The implementation was straightforward and it took approximately two months.

Compliance and the policies that can be set are the most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

It should be simplified. I've worked with many different mobile device management solutions, and Intune is one of the more complex ones. It could be more simplified, and some of it is related to the wording that is being used, such as a configuration profile versus a policy. They really should have had different names to make it less confusing.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't really seen any negative on that yet.

How are customer service and technical support?

Tech support is pretty decent for Microsoft. A colleague of mine had previously talked to them about Intune. As a partner, we also get counseling time with them. We get advisory services with them where we can speak back and forth with them on projects. We can ask them how would we implement it and what are the pros and cons. Sometimes, they came up with things that we weren't even thinking about or they confirmed what we were finding. I was on a call earlier this week, but it wasn't specific to Intune in this case. We found out something was not possible, and they confirmed it for us, which actually saved us hours of additional research. As far as I know, the advisory is only for partners.

What other advice do I have?

One of the pieces of advice is to become very familiar with the cloud environment. In general, always think in the big picture, not just in the isolated issue or item that you want to accomplish. That's because Intune or Azure, in general, is just so over-encompassing. You really have to think about the big picture and not just about the simple project that you're trying to focus on. Otherwise, it will come back to bite you if you didn't plan it right.

There are some MDMs out there that are simpler and easier, perhaps even better to use. It also depends on the application. It depends on if you've got all Windows devices, all Apple devices, or all Android devices. It also depends on if you have a combination. If you've got all Apple devices, there are a couple of products out there that are probably the best MDM, but they won't help you at all with Windows or Android because they're not designed for that. Intune is trying to be all-inclusive to everything. In some ways, that's an Achilles heel too.

I would rate Intune a seven out of 10.
