User-friendly and well organized interface, good security options, and straightforward deployment
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is not complex."
  • "The security features should be improved."

What is our primary use case?

I work for a company as an administrator for Office 365, and I use Microsoft Intune in this capacity.

We implement this solution in conjunction with Microsoft IIS.

It is an enterprise mobility tool that is used for mobile application management and mobile device management.

How has it helped my organization?

This product allows us to restrict users who have access to the system, or to Office 365. We have to enroll the devices and give the users rights as directed by our management or security department.

What is most valuable?

The interface is friendly and well organized.

What needs improvement?

The security features should be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Microsoft Intune for two years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have more than 1,000 employees in the company, and there are about 500 users for this solution. Typically, it is used by managers and higher-ups.

How are customer service and support?

We have not yet had to open a support case with Microsoft. To this point, we have solved any problems ourselves. As such, technical support has not been a concern.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another similar solution prior to Intune.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex.

The length of time required for deployment depends on the number of people in the environment. It also depends on how adopted people are with this type of technology. Six months is enough to complete a full deployment.

Some of our deployments are on-premises, whereas others are on the cloud.

What about the implementation team?

Our in-house team was responsible for deployment. Based on our license, we have the option to engage with a partner but we haven't used them.

What was our ROI?

When it comes to security solutions, it is difficult to calculate the return on investment. This is because it is somewhat like car insurance, where car buyers are protected if something happens. If there are no incidents then you don't see it but you're still protected.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This cost is approximately $30 USD per user per month.

What other advice do I have?

This product is included with our Microsoft 365 E3 subscription.

My advice for anybody who is looking into this product is to try it before they buy it. Microsoft offers a program that allows them to do this.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Reasonably priced with prompt tech support
Pros and Cons
  • "I believe that the solution is actually in Gartner's top quadrant at the moment for mobile device management."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Intune for mobile device and desktop management, more properly referred to as endpoint management.

    What is most valuable?

I cannot think of any particular features which I consider to be most valuable.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not come across any bugs or glitches as yet. Microsoft M365 boasts phenomenal reliability and stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is easy to scale.

How are customer service and support?

I had several questions for tech support while setting up the policies. They answered these quickly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to Microsoft Intune we used IBM MaaS360, but switched because the interface and configurability is horrible.

    How was the initial setup?

We did not encounter issues with the deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    The price is very reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

    The solution is totally cloud-based.

I would guess that our entire staff is using the solution, numbering 20,000.

My advice to others is that they do their due diligence before going with the solution. But, I would say that it is at the top of the list when it comes to the competition. I believe that it is actually in Gartner's top quadrant at the moment for mobile device management.

The solution's integrative abilities are fine.

As no solution is perfect, I rate Microsoft Intune as an eight out of ten.

Integrates well with other enterprise systems, is perfect for a Microsoft environment, and allows for increased usage
    Pros and Cons
    • "It works well if you have a Microsoft environment."
    • "The solution requires Mac support."

What is our primary use case?

Effectively, we are using Microsoft Endpoint Manager, which is a mix of Intune and CCM. I'm not sure if there's a specific category for that.

We are using it mainly for the office workers, for the regular laptops. On top of that, we got our fairly specialized devices on our factories, such as the tag down Zebra Scanners, the RealWear glasses - the augmented reality ones and the kiosks as well. Those are the main use cases.

    What is most valuable?

The solution offers very good integration with broader enterprise systems.

The scaling seems to be okay.

It works well if you have a Microsoft environment.

The solution allows companies to capitalize on costs, especially if they are a Microsoft shop.

    What needs improvement?

The product needs better management support, for sure, especially between non-Microsoft applications. It would be good, for example, to have some Chrome OS support.

The solution requires baselines within the web console. That's something that is missing.

They need better delegation capabilities in the reporting.

    The solution requires Mac support.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for about two years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Recently, the scalability seems not to be very good. There are minor incidents appearing quite frequently. Besides that, from an overall standpoint, compared to Workspace ONE, it's much more stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    The solution is scalable.

We have about 70,000 users on it.

We are using this solution extensively. We use it for daily routines. It's one of our core services. It's used by our end-users.

We are increasing it. We are willing to extend it in the near future.

How are customer service and support?

We are not satisfied with technical support. Some improvements might be required.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did previously use VMware. We tried mainly to reduce some costs. This product seems to come as a part of a bundle, which slightly reduces costs. Also, VMware had plenty of functionalities that were not necessarily fitting into our landscape. We were not able to capitalize on the cost of the process. They didn't have any great integrations with broader enterprise systems.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was quite straightforward.

We do not need much staff for the maintenance of the solution. It's pretty low maintenance.

    What about the implementation team?

Our team handled the setup. Our internet team did it. We didn't need any integrators or consultants.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a broader enterprise agreement which is set up as a four-year period.

In terms of extra costs, there may be some infrastructure costs, especially for the on-premise part of the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a service manager right now.  I'm a little bit within the scope of the consultant versus the advisor.

We're using the latest version of the solution.

Potential new users need to strongly assess their needs. If they are already on Microsoft stack, they shouldn't look for any other solution than that. If their daily usage or utilization or needs are varied and they have a variety of devices, not necessarily based on Windows or other standard platforms, they might consider a different solution, especially if they need Chromebook support.

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Quick implementation and integration with Windows OS
    Pros and Cons
    • "Stable product that's easy to set up compared to other MDM products."
    • "No option to do end-to-en macOS management. Slow implementation of policies."

    What is most valuable?

The most important part is that they're fast in implementing and integrating with the Windows operating system, as well as how it integrates with other Office 365 products.

    What needs improvement?

There is no option to do end-to-end macOS management. The second thing is that the actions or policies don't get applied immediately, so there should be much faster way of implementing the policies. If you wanted to implement some actions on the device, it doesn't happen very quickly.

I'd also add more flexibility with the mobile device management part of it. At the moment, it's very limited compared to other MDM providers, so there should be more options.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using it for four or five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Intune is quite stable.

How are customer service and support?

Microsoft's technical support isn't very good. They're very slow in responding. You get a response, but the problem is if you have an issue with a feature or a critical bug, the response is very slow.

    How was the initial setup?

It is very easy to set up compared to other MDM products.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Reasonably priced, easy to set up, and offers many great features
    Pros and Cons
    • "The initial setup is not overly complex or difficult."
    • "Technical support is not that great."

What is our primary use case?

We are primarily using the solution for managing the devices. Some employees are using their own devices and some employees are using company-owned devices. Basically, we use it to control company data and personal data, we are keeping them separate and we are managing those devices such as Windows computers, Mac and mobile phones, iOS, Android, et cetera, via Intune.

    What is most valuable?

The product is very useful in terms of Windows Information Protection. Our employees, if they try to leak data will not be able to as the data is encrypted. Intune keeps our data encrypted. If you send me an email, that email is stored on my personal OneDrive. I cannot store that email in my WhatsApp, for example. I cannot store my data anywhere else. The data protection on offer, therefore, is great.

The initial setup is very easy.

We can use the solution with the Active Directory, which has many policies. We can restrict and protect devices accordingly.

    The solution can scale.

    The stability is great.

The cost of the solution is great and was recently lowered to make it even more affordable.

Intune has a lot of great features and we have yet to utilize 100% of their offering.

    What needs improvement?

Day-by-day Intune is improving. It has a roadmap for how it will continue to improve over time.

They need to improve their technical support and make sure Intune is covered under their SLAs.

For how long have I used the solution?

Our company is very new. We've only been around for about seven months. In that time, we've used Microsoft Intune. It's been less than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has been stable so far. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale as needed. We are satisfied with its scalability capabilities.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is not that great. The basic support comes with a Microsoft subscription, however. Intune support from my experiences, the basic support they have, does not have any SLA.

They're working on it only during their business hours and our country is in a different time zone and has different business hours. Our country office's start time is 9:00, however, the business is coming from China. China begins at 7:00. We're getting six hours, maybe, of time where we can get support if we need it - and the basic support on offer is not good.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not overly complex or difficult.

The initial setup was very easy as Microsoft has a setup guide similar to what you would expect if you set up 365. If I'm following the set-up guide, it's very simple. You just click along.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Previously the price was $4 per month per user. Now it's $2.25 per user per month. The cost is really affordable.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten.

Good management and control of mobile devices, scales well and is stable.
    Pros and Cons
    • "The performance of Microsoft Intune is good."
    • "More integration with monitoring tools is needed."

What is our primary use case?

Basically, the Intune solution is to provide services for MDM and mobile application management. In addition, support or ticket to control Windows 10 devices is provided.

We provide this solution to our clients.

    What needs improvement?

More integration with monitoring tools is needed.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have worked as a solution architect for Microsoft Intune, for the past six or seven years, and when you consider my overall experience, it is more than two decades.

On-premises is not absolute. You can integrate co-management, but you must first integrate with, ACCM. We are currently providing both solutions.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution. The performance of Microsoft Intune is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    Microsoft Intune can be scalable.

As a solution architect, I have more than 50 customers.

How are customer service and support?

I have not reached out to Microsoft's technical support. So far, we have not had to.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am also familiar with CyberArk.

    How was the initial setup?

Intune is essentially a SaaS solution. Although Intune is a SaaS solution, it can be integrated with the ACCM. You can integrate a co-management solution in two modes, or you can integrate only the cloud. As a result, the cloud is mostly used by small and medium-sized businesses. However, for enterprise customers, we must use co-management, the team, the ACCM, and Intune.

Maintenance isn't that based on the volume. For example, if you want to go with 500 devices, you need to size the people accordingly. If you want to implement 5,000, 10,000, one lakh, or one million people, you must size the people accordingly. As a starting baseline, we need to assign one person to manage every 5,000 devices.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Every customer used to purchase licenses based on their needs.

They used to buy a license as part of a package, possibly on a yearly basis, but they never went for pay-as-you-go, but they used to buy for a year, three years, or something like that.

What other advice do I have?

Intune is the best, in my opinion. CyberArk is primarily used for identity purposes. For example, if you want to protect your password, enable local administration, or enable the lapse solution, CyberArk was the best tool at the time. However, if you want to manage your mobile devices as well as your Windows 10 devices, Intune is the best option.

Both goals are completely different. If you want to manage and control your devices, Intune is the best option.

I work with Microsoft technology. I always strongly recommend Intune.

I would rate Microsoft Intune a ten out of ten.

Lacking user-friendly, but has effective policy creation, and stable
    Pros and Cons
    • "The conditional access policies that we set up are very useful."
    • "Microsoft Intune could improve by being more user-friendly and having it geared toward device management. The graphic interface is not very good."

What is our primary use case?

We switched to Office 365 applications and we already had an Office 365 license that covers Microsoft Intune. We decided to use Intune for our Mobile Application Management solution.

I only use Microsoft Intune for Mobile Application Management for the management of Office 365 apps. Additionally, we have Microsoft Intune integrated with Workspace ONE.

How has it helped my organization?

We have used conditional access policies to prevent users from copying internal resources or internal data to external devices. This has helped protect our organizations from being compromised.

    What is most valuable?

The conditional access policies that we set up are very useful.

    What needs improvement?

Microsoft Intune could improve by being more user-friendly and having it geared toward device management. The graphic interface is not very good.

The VPN option within Intune is not as intuitive as the one available in Workspace ONE. We're trying to implement a VPN tunnel for SharePoint sites. This will allow users trying to access internal resources, such as SharePoint, and other Office 365 data, but it doesn't work as well as Workspace ONE.

We are in the POC stage of the VPN tunnel. We only have a development tenant for the tunnel. We plan is to implement that in production and get rid of Workspace ONE, if it meets our needs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Microsoft Intune within the past 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found Microsoft Intune to be scalable.

We have over 5,500 users using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support from Microsoft could improve, it is not as good as the Workspace ONE support. It is difficult to contact Microsoft support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Workspace ONE, and I would highly recommend it over Microsoft Intune.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was complex, and the full deployment took us one year.

    What about the implementation team?

We did the deployment ourselves. There is little maintenance required, we have to only update policies. We have a mobility architect that set up most of the backend and we did work with a Microsoft resource for this process.

    What was our ROI?

I have received a return on investment, the solution is inexpensive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a license required to use this solution. However, it was part of a bundle package.

Microsoft Intune is far less expensive than other solutions, such as Workspace ONE.

What other advice do I have?

We are only using Microsoft Intune because it came with our Office 365 license.

I rate Microsoft Intune a five out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

Easy to use, highly scalable and reliable
    Pros and Cons
    • "The solution is easy to use."
    • "The solution could improve its flexibility."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Intune for match management for the more than 1,000 computers we have in our organization.

How has it helped my organization?

Before using Microsoft Intune we were having trouble when people were not coming to the office and they were working from remote locations. We did not have any control over their devices. Since the introduction of Microsoft Intune, we have had the problem completely taken care of.

Right after we started using Microsoft Intune we were stuck with this pandemic of COVID-19, and 100% of the users were working from home. It was a good thing we started using it at that time, we were able to do the patch management even though 100% of the workforce were sitting at home.

We have a lot of on-premise server policies which we were struggling with because users get authenticated on the company network, but some elements would not take effect. However, with the implementation of Microsoft Intune, we do not have that problem anymore because the user only needs to be connected to the internet. They will get all the policies that we configure on a global scale.

These are the main areas that have changed the way we do administration tasks on the devices. Additionally, we have control over the applications, such as Mobile Application Management (MAM), we can control how the user can share the company data which we did not before. They could previously install a certain email application on their phone and then they could share it with anyone, but now we have the control; we can restrict it and we can even restrict the applications that they can use. We can stop them from sharing things on WhatsApp. We can only apply limits to the Microsoft platforms, such as Teams and Outlook.

    What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to use.

    What needs improvement?

The solution could improve its flexibility.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Intune for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Microsoft Intune is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

    The solution is scalable.

We have approximately 1,200 users using the solution and for the operators or managers using the solution, we have approximately 15.

How are customer service and support?

    The support is satisfactory.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used ManageEngine Desktop Central and SCCM. When comparing SCCM to Microsoft Intune, when we used SCCM we had more control and visibility on what we deployed. There are certain cases where you do not want to deploy something. For example, there are security updates or quality updates that could have bugs or glitches that you see around the world. Another example is, every second Tuesday Microsoft patches will be released and you hear that some of them can have bugs or glitches, we can take them off the list and not proceed with that particular patch. This was possible in SCCM because you can select whatever patch you want before deployment. However, in Microsoft Intune that is not possible because Microsoft releases it across the world as one data piece. You do not have control over whether to select it or not, we have to accept it.

ManageEngine Desktop Central is very similar to SCCM, you can select what updates or patches you want. If you do not want one patch you do not have to select it.

We migrated all the services to Microsoft platform cloud architecture. We went with Intune for the patch management, but we do have ManageEngine Desktop Central, which is capable of doing patch management.

    How was the initial setup?

The installation of Microsoft Intune was not difficult, it was smooth. Once it was set up it was up and running, we only had to configure the policies. Integrating was easy with Active Directory.

    What about the implementation team?

I did the implementation of the solution myself. We have a team of four to five that do the deployment of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a license needed to use the solution and we are on an annual license.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others.

I rate Microsoft Intune an eight out of ten.
