The product’s most valuable features are the extensive library and centralized creation capabilities. It provides a vast array of options for dashboard creation and monitoring of the activities within the environment. It helps in the efficient organization of various components.

PRTG involves more manual configuration, requiring the creation of connections, and setting up APIs. Instead, they could provide features similar to Datadog enabling ease of integration and out-of-the-box support for various applications and multiple platforms. Moreover, they could also introduce the installation of agents on any machine or service. They should work on minimizing false positives by sending alerts promptly and confirming errors with minimal troubleshooting requirements.

We have 50 end users and around 15 to 20 end users for PRTG Enterprise Monitor. It is a scalable platform.

A team of three to four individuals was involved in the setup process. It is mitigated with a smaller team, as it helps ensure quality control and reduces the issues related to policy deviations. Challenges can arise when multiple teams, possibly with different skill sets or locations, are granted access to create sensors independently. It may lead to an increase in the number of false positives. Ideally, centralizing the responsibility for sensor creation with a dedicated team helps maintain a strong link between the monitoring tool's data and the CMDB.

PRTG Enterprise Monitor is a versatile tool for network performance monitoring across various dimensions including bandwidth, load balancers, firewalls, and servers. Its monitoring methods allow us to tailor our approach based on specific requirements, such as monitoring particular ports, measuring metrics like CPU and memory usage on servers, and observing the processes running. On the network side, PRTG enables us to measure VLANs, track the number of packets, and monitor connections, including the destination of network traffic.

The customization capabilities of dashboards enhance our monitoring efficiency. The ability to create various gauges and display specific information. It helps our operations team work 24/7 with the tool to understand the network activities and acknowledge the alerts sent to them. It becomes easier for the users to address issues related to specific sensors. The product is easy to use and has a simple process for sensor creation.

The product is easy to use and you don't need to have any training. You can use it even if you don't have an IT background. 

PRTG Enterprise Monitor should include more functionalities and features that are similar to SolarWinds.
