What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a very reliable and robust product and we plan to continue using it

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not yet had to scale or add features, but I think that it's going to be easy. We currently have about 10,000 endpoints.

How are customer service and support?

The support is good and they are quite fast. We have not had many issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with Cisco ISE and ClearPass is much easier to use. Because it is so complicated, we were having a lot of issues with it.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and easy to do. It took less than a week to deploy.

What about the implementation team?

We purchased this solution together with the Professional Services, so the vendor set it up for us.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is not bad and everything is included.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a good product and I can recommend it. There is really nothing bad that I can say about it, although I do think that they should work on changing the licensing model.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Excellent for securing local networks, very stable, and easily scalable
Pros and Cons

  • "We find that at the end of the projects we manage, all functionalities perform quite well, we've tested it a lot and find it to be overall a very good solution, excellent in terms of securing local networks for our clients."

  • "The solution needs to upgrade its user interface. Right now, it's not so user friendly, and it's an aspect that my clients' wish was improved upon."

What is our primary use case?

My clients primarily use the solution to control access to the network or their sites. If a computer is not recognized by ClearPass, it won't be able to gain access.

What is most valuable?

The solution is extremely stable.

We find that at the end of the projects we manage, all functionalities perform quite well. We've tested it a lot and find it to be overall a very good solution.

It's excellent in terms of securing local networks for our clients.

What needs improvement?

The solution needs to upgrade its user interface. Right now, it's not so user friendly, and it's an aspect that my clients' wish was improved upon.

The solution is quite large and complex in scope. If a person isn't familiar with the solution, they can quickly get overwhelmed with everything.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been installing the solution for one to two years now. The last project I worked on was around six months ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have never experienced any bugs, crashes, or glitches. In my opinion, everything is stable. It's excellent. I'd say it's quite reliable in that regard.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable. A company will be able to expand the solution to meet their needs as necessary.

How are customer service and technical support?

In the past, we have reached out to technical support. During the implementation process, all the way through the project, we only had just one or two specific instances where their assistance seemed to take a long time. However, overall, I would say we are completely satisfied with their level of support.

How was the initial setup?

While the installation itself is not difficult per se, the process you need to go through before installing the solution is complex. There are a lot of configurations to do on the firewall network and it can take a while, depending on the company.

While it's tedious before the installation, once you come to the actual installation itself, you'll realize it's not too bad.

We're working on a project right now that has ten deployments and that's taken us about four or five months. For this project, there have been five people involved in the deployment process.

What about the implementation team?

We handle aspects of the implementation for our clients.

What other advice do I have?

We've partnered with HPE and Aruba.

I work at a service company. I go and install solutions for customers. I just handle the install for my customers. I don't use the software myself every day or on a regular basis. My role is one of a project technician and director. I'm an architect.

Our organization handles all sizes of companies from small to large enterprises.

If there's a company out there considering the solution, I'd just caution them to be ready.  There is a lot of configuration to do on all of the infrastructure. Other than that, it's an excellent solution. It's great for securing a local network. Security, at the end of the day, shouldn't have a cost. It's imperative to protect your business and to not worry so much about price tags, because it's even more expensive when you are unprotected and things go wrong.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Very mature with great functionality; excellent online support
Pros and Cons
  • "A mature and functional product."
  • "One of the most valuable features of the solution is the maturity of the product and, of course, the functionality is also very good."
  • "Some functions could be improved."
  • "Possibly some of the functions could be improved, but it's hard to say."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is providing services for this solution. We've done a big proof of concept for Clearpass in our company. And another recent case I prepared was a proposal for one of our biggest customers regarding a solution for network access control. Clearpass was practically the heart of that solution.

My position in the company is independent. The company sells end products and services from various vendors and Aruba is one of them. We do the implementation.

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features of the solution is the maturity of the product and, of course, the functionality is also very good.

What needs improvement?

Possibly some of the functions could be improved, but it's hard to say. Generally, Clearpass is considered the leader in its field and it's a very good product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for about half a year.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have quite good support from local representatives and we have our own team in the company for maintenance. A lot is available online.

How was the initial setup?

Initial setup of the solution is relatively straightforward. There are a lot of videos and documentation available on the internet.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Pulse Policy Secure as a possible option. In some areas it has more flexibility than Clearpass but Clearpass came out on top in the end. Policy Secure has some ability issues and lack of good support.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this product a nine out of 10.

Simple to deploy, good analytics, and usage is transparent to the users
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very easy to access support and the documentation is self-explanatory."
  • "We are very happy with the support and the product overall."
  • "In the future, I would like to see plugins for AI and machine learning."
  • "In the future, I would like to see plugins for AI and machine learning."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are planning and analytics.

It is simple to deploy.

It is transparent for the users to come in through ClearPass.

What needs improvement?

In the future, I would like to see plugins for AI and machine learning. If it did pattern analysis then it could help to determine our requirements automatically.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using ClearPass for a couple of months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

ClearPass has been very stable and there are no hiccups or any issues that we are experiencing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is modularly scalable and I don't see any issues with it.

I've got a lot of people connecting to my facility from outside of the organization, and they all connect through ClearPass. The combined external and internal user count is around 500.

How are customer service and technical support?

The support that I have had from Aruba on this solution has been very nice. It's very easy to access support and the documentation is self-explanatory. You won't need much guidance from the Aruba team.

How was the initial setup?

When it comes to the initial setup, as a customer, you need to prepare your own decision matrix. Once the matrices are in place, the rollout of ClearPass is seamless. It is easy. However, if you don't do your introspection and homework then it could be a challenge for an organization.

What other advice do I have?

This is a solution that I would strongly recommend.

We are very happy with the support and the product overall. Although it meets our satisfaction and requirements 100%, you can never give a 100% mark. There is a little bit of room for improvement in all things.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is flexibility as it supports solutions from multiple vendors."
  • "Overall, Aruba ClearPass is a very good product, we feel very confident using it, and it is a product that I would recommend."
  • "The interface could be made easier and more intuitive."
  • "The interface could be made easier and more intuitive."

What is our primary use case?

We are a solution provider and this is one of the products that we implement for our clients.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is flexibility as it supports solutions from multiple vendors.

What needs improvement?

The interface could be made easier and more intuitive.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Aruba ClearPass for about four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable product.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is very good. When you have an issue they respond very, very quickly.

What about the implementation team?

We have qualified and certified engineers who implement and deploy this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is not an issue for us.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, Aruba ClearPass is a very good product, we feel very confident using it, and it is a product that I would recommend. That said, it is not perfect.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Enables us to double verify whether a machine is compliant with our policy
Pros and Cons
  • "We can double verify whether a machine is compliant with our policy on the one hand, and on the other hand if it's one of our machines we let it into the network."
  • "The most valuable feature for us is the policy compliance."
  • "The user interface should be improved. The logs and how the logging mechanism works can also use an upgrade."
  • "The user interface should be improved. The logs and how the logging mechanism works can also use an upgrade."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution mainly for NAC, network access control.

How has it helped my organization?

It's security control after all so just like you have an EDR installed, we double verify whether a machine is compliant with our policy on the one hand, and on the other hand, if it's also one of our machines so that we can let it into the network. It's security control.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for us is the policy compliance. They have an API that assists you in checking whether a machine has specific clients. For example, we check whether the EDR is updated and whether there are specific clients whose machine should be allowed to connect to the network.

What needs improvement?

The user interface should be improved. The logs and how the logging mechanism works can also use an upgrade. It should also have better reporting, we were trying to do the reports and didn't manage to do them because technically we couldn't.

Better documentation on the API would be useful as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using Aruba ClearPass for around a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. We didn't have any problems there. We deployed it in 12 hours worldwide, so it's pretty scalable. There are about 2,500 users currently, in total.

In terms of increasing our user base, we increase the license whenever we acquire a company so it depends on whether we're growing organically or not organically. It's in the pipeline, so once we buy a company they go through us, pick a stage, and we implement all the security enforcement for that company. So as long as we buy companies, we implement this as well.

How are customer service and technical support?

Most of the problems we had were solved by the integrator. The technical support is medium to good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was complex. The deployment was fast, but in order to tune the policy, install the agent, and do everything else, I would say it took around 4 to 6 months.

What about the implementation team?

We used an integrator. They were very good. Most of the shortcomings were technology based, not implementation based.

What other advice do I have?

My advice is to get a good integrator.

I would rate this solution as an eight and a half out of ten.

Offers support for every time you have database issues
Pros and Cons
  • "Aruba has improved my organization because it supported me on my level of access."
  • "Aruba has improved my organization because it supported me on my level of access."
  • "Aruba needs to improve and the processes must be clear."
  • "Aruba needs to improve and the processes must be clear."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for Aruba ClearPass is to use it in IoT services.

How has it helped my organization?

Aruba has improved my organization because it supported me on my level of access. I hope to see Aruba add routers to their portfolio.

What is most valuable?

A very important feature for me is its support of a multi-tenant solution on deliverables. For instance, I have three customers, or three users, and I want each customer to have his own portal and his own database to manage their subscriber for reporting and for provision.

What needs improvement?

Aruba needs to improve and the processes must be clear. I also believe the marketing is very important, as well as to split the database to be more specific, like having a user name, access point name or site name.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Aruba ClearPass for two years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In general, Aruba is very stable and it supports me every time I have issues related to my database.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. We currently have about 100 users but we expect this to grow to 10,000 by the end of the year. So we plan to increase our usage. We won't need to employ extra staff because the support from Aruba is very good.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support from Aruba is very good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before we started using Aruba we worked on Cisco, which has the same setup. They had the same access layer, access points, access controller and management at Cisco. We were, however, looking for a wireless solution.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment took about two years, and then it took about two weeks for the configurations to be activated.

What was our ROI?

We've invested in Aruba to increase our customers to 10,000 by the end of the year so we hope to see a good return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay an annual licensing fee for Aruba and there are no additional costs.

What other advice do I have?

I can recommend this solution for anyone in terms of guest management or from a security perspective. I will rate this a nine out of ten.

If you max out the endpoint devices that you want to manage, you upgrade the license and can get more scalability.
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup was straightforward."
  • "Scalability is fine because it's batched upon endpoint devices, and licensing."
  • "I would like the area of managing wired technology to be improved. Wireless is very good but I'm still struggling a bit to do my end to end configurations in the wired technology area."
  • "I would like the area of managing wired technology to be improved. Wireless is very good but I'm still struggling a bit to do my end to end configurations in the wired technology area."

What is our primary use case?

1. To improve overall security by segmenting the Guest and Corporate Vlan.

2. To Manage BYOD in the organization.

3. To provide visbility on my corporate network using one management dashboard   environment for the devices

How has it helped my organization?

Secure organization by completely segmenting the guest and corporate vlans SSID.

Less management and support effort on the management of BYOD.

Clear visibility on the LAN .

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features would be:

  • Wireless segregation
  • Bandwidth segmentation
  • Prioritization
  • BYOD management
  • Overall visibility.

What needs improvement?

I would like the area of managing wired technology to be improved. Wireless is very good but I'm still struggling a bit to do my end to end configurations in the wired technology area.

The Virtual Machine for the Clearpass sometimes has issues with loosing the management IP

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is fine because it's batched upon endpoint devices, and licensing. If you max out the endpoint devices that you want to manage, you just upgrade the license and get more scalability. The core server is running on virtualization, so you can expand the resources for you to be able to grow your server needs.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Cisco ISE. We switched because it was complex. Even the deployment was not straightforward. When I had Cisco ISE, it was still in the first version, 1.2. I heard people mention that version 2.2 is much more friendly, easy to deploy, and easy to use but I didn't get a chance to test that. I used Cisco ISE when it was what I would consider a very complex solution, difficult to install, and even understand. Even then, it was not meeting my requirements.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward and the deployment took almost a month.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a nine.
