Regarding potential areas of improvement for Azure Data Factory, there is a need for better data transformation, especially since many people are now depending on DataBricks more for connectivity and data integration. Azure Data Factory should consider how to enhance integration or filtering for more transformations, such as integrating with Spark clusters. I am satisfied with Azure Data Factory so far, but I suggest integrating some AI functionality to analyze data during the transition itself, providing insights such as null records, common records, and duplicates without running a separate pipeline or job. The monitoring tools in Azure Data Factory are helpful for optimizing data pipelines; while the current feature is adequate, they can improve by creating a live dashboard to see the online process, including how much percentage has been completed, which will be very helpful for people who are monitoring the pipeline.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features for us are reliability and performance."
"Ingres is the only database solution that has maintained a level of consistency and integrity about the way users interact with it."
"The deployment of our solution across a number of servers using Ingres .NET has meant that we can protect the database server behind a highly secure firewall and deploy the front end solutions on a normal web server."
"The most valuable part of this product is the ease of use, as it is easy to use and rather intuitive, and because it is easy to use, you can do things with it easily, making your work easier and therefore more valuable."
"I enjoy the ease of use for the backend JSON generator, the deployment solution, and the template management."
"It has big potential, especially as a PaaS offering."
"It's cloud-based, allowing multiple users to easily access the solution from the office or remote locations. I like that we can set up the security protocols for IP addresses, like allow lists. It's a pretty user-friendly product as well. The interface and build environment where you create pipelines are easy to use. It's straightforward to manage the digital transformation pipelines we build."
"It is easy to deploy workflows and schedule jobs."
"The data copy template is a valuable feature."
"Data Factory's best features include its data source connections, GUI for building data pipelines, and target loading within Azure."
"Data Factory's best feature is the ease of setting up pipelines for data and cloud integrations."

Cons

"The seamless integration is a bit of an issue."
"The ability to reset the log file without stopping the DBMS would be helpful for us."
"They should work on optimizing their licensing model and pricing structure."
"I have encountered a problem with the integration with third-party solutions, particularly with SAP."
"They require more detailed error reporting, data normalization tools, easier connectivity to other services, more data services, and greater compatibility with other commonly used schemas."
"The performance could be better. It would be better if Azure Data Factory could handle a higher load. I have heard that it can get overloaded, and it can't handle it."
"But, I feel that if the usage extends beyond a certain threshold, it will start getting expensive."
"Data Factory's cost is too high."
"The solution can be improved by decreasing the warmup time which currently can take up to five minutes."
"The thing we missed most was data update, but this is now available as of two weeks ago."

"The pricing is a bit on the higher end."
"Data Factory is affordable."
"Understanding the pricing model for Data Factory is quite complex."
