Strong security reporting has supported our consulting work and drives better integration choices
I rated Adlumin Security Operations probably the same as Huntress at eight. They are better at reporting and better integrations. The integrations in terms of the number of integrations you can run from them or connect to are not as many as available with Huntress, but they have easier implementation. Overall, I would say it is the same. I do not want to see any additional features in the next release of Adlumin Security Operations, but I would change the pricing a little bit for around SIEM integrations and SIEM data collection. That is probably the maximum I would do. I do not really have much to say because that is literally five percent of our deployments versus ninety-five percent being Huntress. My overall rating for this review is eight.

Improving alert visibility and reporting has reduced workload and strengthened security posture
Huntress Managed EDR could be improved by providing more visibility into each alert that comes in and what action was taken on it. There have been times when an alert was received through Microsoft Defender indicating an account was accessed, when in reality it was blocked by a conditional access policy, yet when checking the Huntress portal, that event does not appear at all, lacking indication that it was raised and investigated as not a threat. The reporting in Huntress Managed EDR is fairly basic, as the only available report is effectively an executive summary. Although it contains useful information, other platforms have reporting engines that are much more robust and customizable, functionality that appears to be missing in Huntress.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We normally focus on Huntress."
"The most valuable aspect of Huntress is its ability to isolate legacy systems from the network, preventing the spread of threats."
"Huntress Managed EDR has helped me reduce the need for expensive security tools or to hire expensive security analysts."
"Huntress Managed EDR has positively impacted my organization because I can confidently tell clients that I am offering a best-in-class, state-of-the-art MDR solution incorporated within my offerings."
"It is incredibly efficient for our engineering team because Huntress provides all the information needed to fix issues, not just flag them."
"Huntress Managed EDR is a perfect solution for the SMB market and is recommended to all small businesses that have no cybersecurity posture, as it is easy to implement and provides peace of mind with a real-life SOC."
"Huntress Managed EDR provides that human in the loop, which means someone is always watching your back, and that's the main difference."
"Huntress helps by highlighting potential issues, allowing us to take proactive measures."
"Huntress has improved our security dramatically."

Cons

"Adlumin Security Operations's functionality is probably slightly better, but implementation and integration with Office 365 was not as straightforward."
"What I dislike about Huntress Managed EDR is that I would probably change my opinion since about the only thing I could really see is bringing down the price somewhat."
"Installing Huntress on a Mac presents a challenge for end users due to the operating system's security features, which require administrator privileges for installation."
"The product could be improved in terms of customization options available for reports."
"While Huntress Managed EDR is a growing company adding innovations, one area that could improve is the time it took for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint integration, and the need to enhance detections on the Microsoft ecosystem is also evident, although I am confident they will succeed."
"We need an API to automatically retrieve metrics and data about backend activity so we can generate client reports."
"In terms of room for improvement for Huntress Managed EDR, I think that if they could work with maybe other antivirus vendors to sort of work together with those, it would be beneficial because I know they work with Microsoft Defender, but we chose not to do that."
"The Huntress is not a standalone solution. It really needs to be used with something else such as Microsoft Defender or another antivirus solution. It would be nice to see the product fleshed out by the Huntress team and include the antivirus solution part as well. I want it to be a full-fledged XDR product. It would push the tool to a higher price range but it would be nice to see the fleshed out features. I want them to integrate more features from the XDR realm."
"I would suggest making the cost a little bit lower."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I rate the product pricing six out of ten for the Malaysian market. However, I would rate it a three out of ten for the Australian, New Zealand, or Singapore markets."
"I believe Huntress Managed EDR is fairly priced. The value I get from it in terms of peace of mind justifies the expense. You can justify it as a business expense."
"The cost-effectiveness of Huntress is much better compared to BlackPoint. Although Huntress does not offer all the finer details that BlackPoint does, it remains much more competitive in pricing."
"The Huntress pricing is an excellent value for what the product provides."
"It is simple. It is reasonable. They raised my prices this year. We never like price increases, but they continue to add value, so we just keep adding agents as we grow and as our clients grow."
"Huntress Managed EDR offers a fair pricing model."
"The tool’s price is very good. You just need to pay for the standard license. However, you need to pay the additional cost for Microsoft Defender."
"It works well for an MSP."
