The support of this solution is great. The timeliness of their responses is crucial for me. When I raise an issue, I can count on receiving a prompt reply, eliminating the need for extensive online searches or phone calls. This efficiency is paramount in saving time. In the rare instances where problems arise, they are usually swiftly addressed.

I cannot suggest much for Ruckus Wireless, but I think all the new versions have already incorporated all the improvements that are required in this device. So I cannot suggest something which I believe is already either in process or already been given to the customer. There is something on my mind about how the product could be optimized. The number of users they claim can simultaneously connect to the system actually varies. Sometimes when there's a load of work, even within the range of the concurrent users, we feel that the system is burdened and slows down. Perhaps there is something that can make it work better when there's a high load on that. However, this does not happen frequently. Sometimes it happens when I see the number of users increasing on one access point, which slows down a little bit, especially when we are having online meetings and teams are communicating over the internet. This trouble causes a little bit of irritation to the user, wondering why data downloading or uploading or transferring takes extra time. That is my concern.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"There is a definite ROI with this product. This product creates a baseline of technology that will be a means to grow from five to ten years from now. By using this solution, it is an investment on the installation of that baseline."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"I have worked with different solutions in the past and switched to Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar because of its quick installation time. It requires no additional preparation. The product is highly stable. I rate it a nine out of ten. The support of this solution is great. The timeliness of their responses is crucial for me. When I raise an issue, I can count on receiving a prompt reply, eliminating the need for extensive online searches or phone calls."
"One feature that differentiates Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar from some other vendors is the fact that on-premise OmniVista licenses are perpetual."
"We are very satisfied with the performance."
"The solution allows you to see the SNMP packets, the DPI packets, and the SNMP server."
"I have not seen any downtime in the tool."
"The features aren't much different than those in Aruba, but deployment is easier to configure and the pricing is better."
"There is better security on our internal SSID/VLAN due to the use of Zero-IT."
"Ruckus WAPs have excellent coverage and their beamforming means that we can cover more area with fewer WAPs."
"One of the most valuable features I appreciate is auto channelization, facilitated by a proprietary product called ChannelFly."
"It ensured our Internet service was always up, allowing us to serve our customers 24/7."
"Valuable features include Bonjour Gateway and the hardware antenna array."
"I find signal combining and team forming in Ruckus Wireless most valuable."
"I can manage the network through a cell phone, which is a plus from my side. I am also able to visualize the network. I can also check the quality of the signal for different clients that are currently connected and see whether the quality is excellent, moderate, or poor. Sometimes, I can even adjust the signal strength."
"Ruckus Wireless is a valuable solution. It's both scalable and reliable."

Cons

"Better integration with third-party systems is what our customers are expecting in the future."
"Most customers are asking for an on-premises hardware architecture while it is available as a software-based architecture."
"There are occasional OS bugs."
"If the customers plan to go on the cloud side, they need encryption and daily communications from a security perspective."
"Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar's radio management side could be improved."
"It needs to be faster in order to process and transmit bigger packets."
"It is not possible to integrate Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar with third-party software like Opera, a property management system (PMS)."
"The current implementation of our Guest Access network in isolation for Express mode is very complicated in comparison with leading market solutions."
"From my point of view, portal features are something missing in Ruckus Wireless. I want to see Ruckus Wireless integrate a Wi-Fi portal into its product. This would allow for easier user authentication for vendors."
"The switching could be improved. The active component requires a data center. Cisco and HPE have a complete solution for data centers. Ruckus has a core solution, but the data center aspect needs to be improved."
"I would like to see newer on-premises controller-type models, similar to the 3000."
"I wish that Ruckus Wireless were more affordable for customers."
"APs should be more adaptable to denser client regions and, most important, the logs on the ZoneDirector should be classified into groups, such as type of logs and alerts."
"I would like the option to not have my logs deleted when I shut down the device so that I will be able to troubleshoot."
"Its interface could be a little bit more user friendly."
"Ruckus is a bad solution in general. It's pretty old and outdated."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of this product is average and it is a one-time, perpetual license."
"It's pricey, but better than similar solutions."
"Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar is a mid-range solution with respect to pricing."
"We find the price comparable to other products on the market."
"The tool is cost-effective, according to our sales team's feedback."
"The price is in the range of other brands like Cisco, maybe a little cheaper but you get the same features, facilities, and security. Licensing is something Alcatel is making changes to. A few years ago you would buy a WLAN solution from Alcatel for half the price of Cisco, but you would spend the same amount on licensing. Today this is different and the licensing is cheaper."
"At times, it appears that the solution's pricing is slightly higher. This makes it challenging to persuade customers who primarily focus on the price."
"It is reasonably priced. I would rate the price a three out of five."
"The only complaint I have about Ruckus is the price, but considering other enterprise WiFi products are similarly priced, I feel Ruckus is a superior product."
"With Ubiquiti, there's no annual cost to keep the software upgraded, whereas with Ruckus, you have to pay an annual fee or three-year fee. That makes it a little more pricey."
"It's a lot more expensive."
"The price of Ruckus Wireless is more expensive than other options."
"The cost per AP license should be worked on."
"It depends on the client. You have an initial license cost that you need to buy to bind the access point with the controller. This is a one-time fee. You also have to pay the support fee that, if I remember correctly, is about $25 per access point. Its pricing and licensing can be improved."
"Regarding pricing, Ruckus Wireless is a five out of ten. Though it's cheaper than Aruba Wireless, pricing for Ruckus Wireless, when you look at its functionality, could be more affordable."
