Central hub has unified cross‑department tasks and provides clear ownership and communication
The best features Asana offers, once you become familiar with the system, include clarity in view and tracking of questions. For instance, if information is requested from legal and they respond, a record is maintained to track all comments and keep everyone updated. Having that clear view and record of communication helps the team day to day by allowing management and staff to see current statuses and responsibilities. It clarifies whose responsibility it is and identifies any hold-ups with legal or engineering tasks, which keeps the organization organized. Asana has positively impacted the organization by providing clarity for everyone, allowing visibility into who is working on what, from the VP of Operations down to maintenance, ensuring necessary parts are available. It functions as a clearinghouse for all information. Collaboration has greatly improved with Asana. There is no longer a need to chase down accounting or engineering for project updates because information can be checked through comments. File attachment and messaging capabilities between different groups within Asana are helpful. Email notifications are received for updates relevant to tasks, combining Asana alerts with email for easy visibility. The interface and notifications in Asana are appreciated because it integrates with email. Updates can be received even when not logged in, which keeps you informed. Initially, it takes some time to understand the various details, but after extensive use, it feels second nature. Overall, satisfaction with Asana is high.

An easy-to-use project management solution with good stability and scalability
The recent update on the solution has made it a little bit complex. For example, to create a team and a project, there is a separate button that you need to click. Recently they updated it with only one button making it difficult for us to create teams or supply teams other than a project. Hence the solution could be more user-friendly. Additionally, some additional features need to be integrated so it'll be easy for other companies or project managers to manage software projects.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has helped our departments maintain visibility."
"This solution is great, I have tried a few other work management and project management solutions and this one is the best for my requirements."
"I love the way it monitors all of the current and past projects, and it sends notifications to keep everything on the track."
"Asana has positively impacted my organization as we have moved from a team of five persons to currently a team of about nine or twelve persons over the last two to three years, and it really helps."
"I would highly recommend Asana as I think it's a great tool."
"The tool has a lot of integrations."
"Asana impacts the organization in several ways, improving execution clarity across different teams by showing what needs to be done, who owns it, and what the due date is, while strengthening PMO governance and visibility with real-time dashboards, portfolio views for leadership, and instant visibility into project health that makes decision-making faster and more data-driven and reduces operational inefficiencies."
"We've been able to improve our time management, making our efforts more efficient."
"The ease of use is valuable."
"The app functionality and ease of seeing the different functionalities parsed equally on the screen with consistent menu access to shift between areas."
"The ability to network informally is great for communicating with colleagues."

Cons

"We don't get enough notifications."
"We tried, but we haven't been successful with it. If people don't have the training, it is not easy to use. You need to make sure that the people are trained to use the system. They can provide more resources in the form of webcasts and videos that people can use to train themselves and understand how to use it."
"In some instances, there were subtasks where more than one person needed to review it, but I could only assign it to one person. I would have to create a subtask under a subtask and then assign it to other people. This could be improved."
"The product's page is not user-friendly."
"We have not used Asana on our private server. We have been using the cloud solution. We need an on premise solution for government agencies."
"It would be great if Asana could create a library for each project within the interface."
"The messaging feature could be better."
"More features can be added."
"Formalized area to store contact information indexed in a way that can pre-populate other areas would be helpful."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"The product isn't easy to use. It's not very intuitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a free version of Asana, but we use the paid version to receive all the features we want. The overall price is reasonable."
"Price-wise, I think it's an affordable option for mid to large-sized companies."
"This solution is reasonably priced."
"The solution's free version can be used for basic functions."
"Asana has two different types of structures: company vs workspace. Company is really best if all the users you plan to assign work to are all internal (have the same corporate domain in their user ID email address). Once one person signs up (even for a free account) with a corporate email address, Asana will automatically relate that person to that company, if it already exists. If you plan to use it for external collaboration as well as internal, then creating a workspace is a better approach."
"We paid a monthly licensing fee for the product."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"I can describe Asana's pricing as a sweet spot since it is neither very high nor very low, especially regarding the value Asana adds to its products...In our company, we use 50 percent of the features provided by Asana, because of which we only pay 50 percent of Asana's total cost."
