Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Useful dashboards, plenty of features, and initial setup simple
We previously worked with other solutions, such as Software AG for process monitoring. It was a good solution. All the products that we worked with have very good functionality. We are mostly working with QPR ProcessAnalyzer, but we may work again with the Software AG process analysis software. QPR ProcessAnalyzer is suited for the mid-scale market while Software AG servers mostly the higher-level market. All the products can work and can do the work for us.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The saving of efforts within my project has been to the tune of 20% as of now and I am sure that it will improve as we explore the tool more and automate many more processes."
"Document automation has notably reduced manual effort."
"What I appreciate most about Automation Anywhere is the high degree of interoperability, and they have both on-premises and cloud versions, which allows us to ensure that we are properly following the protocols and ensuring seamless integration with our native systems."
"I also very much like the integrating of this solution with other applications. We have some old web applications that we've been using, and we've been writing some of our own DLLs to integrate with it. It has worked really well."
"Its user interface is very understandable. Even a non-technical person can understand it. Everything in the user interface is self-explanatory. It is quite good."
"We've been using a lot of object cloning and screen scraping, but we've also had success with: inbuilt email functionality, some integrations to incorporate heterogeneous systems like Python scripting, etc."
"Using Automation Anywhere has improved our company significantly, as we are doing over eight to 10,000 invoices a month, which people had to do before, while now the automated process is doing that without too much human intervention, saving probably about at least two to possibly three FTEs per week."
"Co-pilot certainly makes the job easier if the client has a subscription. It allows me to analyze desktop flows and activities and create flows using natural language."
"I have found the most valuable features of QPR ProcessAnalyzer to be Process Discovery, KPIs, definition, and dashboarding. These are the main features we are working on."
"Most of the solutions in this categroy cover the main functionalities and QPR is very close to the top of the game."
"Discovery and root cause analysis"

Cons

"Automation Anywhere can be improved with respect to the user-friendliness of the interface because most of the competitors are now using a flowchart-like structure, thus making it easy for anyone to learn and study it."
"I don't use the technical support a lot. It feels like a lot of time that they will ask us to check the user manual."
"Some of the biggest improvements they can make are with the interface. It can be improved in terms of usability or searching for something. For example, icons are hard to find. Typically, you jump into the search box, but being able to go in and find things quickly with the eye could be very valuable."
"Currently, Automation Anywhere's debugging functionality is minimal."
"A2019 should have more improvement for developers, as it was in v11.x."
"The version that we are using has been difficult for us to code. As changes are very frequent, we have to make sure the code can be updated automatically so we don't have to make a change every time a user makes a change. Then, the user doesn't have to update us and we don't have to push a change to production. We have found a workaround with the help of the Automation Anywhere support people for this."
"Queues are great but need improvement. They are helpful because most of the automations are transaction-based."
"The pricing is a little bit high compared with other tools."
"Communication with clients could be improved."
"The user interface of QPR ProcessAnalyzer could improve, it is not very intuitive."
"We sometimes have problems with the stability."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet."
"It is cost-efficient in terms of licensing. I found their support good when I was working for the airline client. However, I hear from my managers here that the support price for Tier 3 or premium is a little higher. That is why we are not going for Automation Anywhere. Its price was okay for our client, but for us, it seems expensive."
"It's justified because we have saved quite a bit of money at the company and many manual hours. Overall, it justifies the cost."
"Automation Anywhere's price is considerably better than UiPath's."
"We're paying a monthly subscription fee for the bot and for services. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"I've seen the price vary by whether the client is going to scale and adopt a tool."
"Based on what I've heard, it's costly, but I don't know much about its pricing."
"They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
"The price of QPR ProcessAnalyzer is more competitive compared to other solutions."
