Integration with other services has improved migration efficiency
A valuable feature is the schema conversion tool, which allows me to migrate databases, for example, from Oracle to Postgres. The service is fully managed by AWS, which makes it better to use the migration services. It is beneficial to enable phased migration, and the service offers easy integration with other AWS services. The integration of AWS Application Migration Service with AWS makes it a good tool for working with AWS services.

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Pros

"The CloudEndure feature is most valuable because it is user friendly and very simple."
"The CloudEndure feature is most valuable because it is user friendly and very simple."
"I rate AWS Application Migration Service a nine out of ten overall."
"The most valuable feature is the live, block-to-block replication."
"The installation process and configuration processes are very straightforward, and in terms of maintenance, it's pretty easy as one person can handle it."
"AWS Application Migration Service allows us to perform migrations with minimal downtime, which is crucial for our operations."
"Live Migration's best feature is that it's free."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...I rate the solution's support a ten out of ten."
"Speed of recovery has been very effective in getting our information back as fast as we're able to get it. The daily backup solution that we use alternatively only allows a single backup versus having continuous backup replication with Zerto, it's a no-brainer."
"Zerto's replication is superior to anyone else's out there; it's faster, simpler, and effective, and I don't think I could get as low an RTO and RPO with any other solution."
"HPE Zerto Software has made operations quite easy."
"It just gives us extra peace of mind; we can backup and recover critical information not only on-premise but also off-premise at multiple places, and it has saved us somewhere in the $150,000 to $200,000 range."
"It protect and provide DR."
"Usually, it takes me less than five minutes to do a file or folder restore, including the mounting of the actual image."
"In general, when we have done our recent testing using the Zerto portions, once we say, "Okay, we are doing this now," it is taking less than three minutes on average for the systems to be fully back online at the new location once we start."
"We can spin up our environment in DR without affecting production, which is probably the biggest feature for us. We have the ability to do passive testing. We can even test scenarios, such as installing software or changing software. We can make modifications without affecting our production environment. So, the test functionality of being able to test the failover solution and being able to bring up our virtual machines in a test mode is the biggest benefit."

Cons

"We would like to have a disaster recovery feature included in this solution."
"I do not see any improvements required for the CloudEndure."
"Live Migration has some issues with target setups."
"One drawback to using CloudEndure is that the default is to give one small, lightweight server, which is created in the cloud."
"Live Migration has some issues with target setups."
"The schema conversion is not included in the document management services itself. Complex formations require additional steps."
"One drawback to using CloudEndure is that the default is to give one small, lightweight server, which is created in the cloud."
"I think it is important to have more logs, and more details would be great because we have just logged on the client's side, but there weren't many details on the cloud."
"Zerto could improve its reporting capabilities."
"Zerto could be considered as a backup product but this is not true. So if we could consolidate and use Zerto for disaster recovery as well as everyday backup and restore for situations where we need to recover something, that would be helpful. Anyway, we think that Zerto will win with no competition in the Disaster Recovery process, so we stay focused on this. Now we are testing version 10 which include real-time ransomware detection, a new Cyber Resilience Vault and enhanced cloud capabilities and security: we expect more from these features for superior hybrid cloud security."
"Even though Zerto is for disaster recovery, it would be nice if it can also make backups."
"We did look at the long-term retention backup feature of Zerto a few years ago, and at that time, it was limited in terms of basically where we could save it and how we could save it."
"The reporting could be improved in terms of the reports that you can show to auditors to prove that you have done the testing."
"It needs to support more public cloud."
"It would be beneficial if Zerto also offered integration with other cloud management platforms, such as VMware Aria Automation."
"Adding more features would be great, such as hardware version upgrades upon failover to the data centers and VM tools upgrades."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Live Migration's price is good."
"For me, the price of the tool is cheap and very good. It is flexible pricing since you pay just for what you use."
"There is a one-time cost for maintenance and support. We have a three-year contract that we will have to renew when those three years come up. There is also licensing on top of that for whatever product you are using it for."
"I think everything can be cheaper. Pricing limited our ability to use Zerto as much as we'd like, but that's not why we haven't adopted it as our primary backup solution."
"As far as I know, the pricing is around $1,000 per VM, but Zerto is changing the pricing model to more of an enterprise-class license. I don't know if there are any additional costs or fees."
"Zerto is expensive but offers many features that make it competitive."
"Zerto is reasonably price for the product that you're getting. We keep on buying more licenses, so it's a good price."
"The licensing model is good. The price is a little bit expensive, but for what customers get on it, it tends to pay for itself. However, if more and more companies start to improve, then Zerto may need to look at their pricing and make it a little better."
"From a customer perspective, the price is okay. From an investor's perspective, however, it is a little bit high."
"Its licensing is yearly. You can do multi-year contracts, which is what we did. You pay per VM, and you replicate a license per VM. So, we bought about 20 licenses. We paid somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000. There is an initial upfront cost. Basically, you buy the license, and then you have a maintenance cost on top of that. So, the upfront cost is somewhere between $5,000 to $10,000. The maintenance is $5,000 to $10,000 over a three-year period."
