Orchestration and integration simplify processes with seamless stability and reliability
I use the Visual Workflow Editor feature of AWS Step Functions. I mainly work through code and then improve it through the visual aspect. There are two ways to do orchestration: through code and through visual. My main task is to develop flows. I have only implemented AWS Step Functions with AWS services, not with any third-party tools. The integration between AWS Step Functions and other AWS services is excellent, working seamlessly with EventBridge, Glue jobs, and databases. I have not encountered any challenges with customers regarding AWS Step Functions that needed me to find a workaround. The pricing of AWS Step Functions is moderate and not particularly costly. AWS Step Functions is affordable for small, medium, and enterprise businesses as an orchestration tool. I have not used any documentation, manuals, or guides for AWS Step Functions as it's very simple to implement. When help is needed, I consult Stack Overflow or AI for commands. Overall rating for AWS Step Functions: 9 out of 10.

The initial setup is straightforward and can be completed with the environment within an hour. First, take the latest from the git repository and check the git code to the monitor studio and a bar file, a deployable Bonita archive file. Then, take that process to the Bonita server, running at runtime on another server. Finally, deploy and enable it by selecting the proper organization.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One can rate all the calls and that is a good feature."
"It's a general solution that you can adapt to your own needs and is simple to use. We like that it can be integrated with everything in the AWS suite, and that the creation of the pipeline can be done using the graphical user interface."
"Overall, I would rate AWS Step Functions at least nine out of ten."
"It's Amazon, it's scalable."
"AWS Step Functions offers advanced workflows that save time and enhance efficiency by reducing delays and ensuring consistent orchestration among various services."
"AWS Step Functions acts as a high-level layer, allowing us to seamlessly integrate with microservices."
"What I like the most about Amazon Step Functions is how easy it is to use."
"The JSON app launched recently allows us to define data execution more easily."
"Our lead generation system involves both automated and human tasks. By centralizing the workflow to our internal Bonita BPM system, we have improved the conversion rate (leads to customers) and lowered the number of leads dropped."
"Studio provides an opportunity to get early feedback from real users and quickly change the process and forms."
"I really enjoy using the workflow management tool."
"Flexible and drag-and-drop type of UI is very valuable. The integrations are also very good. You can build workflows very quickly, which is my favorite activity. By using the GUI, you can build the entire mechanism, notifications, and all this kind of stuff."
"It is a great product that is powerful in developing applications."
"The Connector implementation is a great addition to an out-of-box solution providing robust features for the developer to build hassle-free integrations."
"The most valuable features of Bonita are the connectors, detailed documentation, and web applications. The documentation was useful because it is how I learned how to use it."
"Process automation with Bonita BPM is really easy."

Cons

"One area for improvement is the payload size. Currently, I sometimes have to save data as a file since I cannot pass it within Step Functions, necessitating caching in processes."
"The pricing of the solution can be improved."
"There is room for improvement in terms of integration with other products. It would benefit from more integration with different applications or services."
"The price and support are areas with shortcomings where the solution needs to improve."
"It is difficult to suggest improvements at the moment."
"I would like to see more data transformation features in Amazon Step Functions like additional operators and logic."
"The solution's pricing could be cheaper. It is cheaper than Airflow."
"The solution's data size limit can be improved."
"At times Bonita BPM Studio crashes, intermittently."
"There is a considerable learning curve."
"Bonita can improve by offering more flexibility."
"There could be an improvement in IoT connectivity."
"The price is good, but I do not like the process instance annual quantity pricing base used today."
"The documentation and examples definitely could be enhanced."
"Bonita must add a rule engine. We are a 360-degree partner of Bonita. We can integrate with any kind of rule engine. We have a dashboard related to engine performance, but getting a configurable dashboard for the Buildium or transactional data will add value."
"Bonita can improve by offering more flexibility. The developer does not receive the code of the application to modify it. Most of the other solutions I have used allow the developers to change or improve the code that is generated."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"The solution's price is reasonable."
"You pay an annual fee and can have an unlimited number of processes and users."
"The Community Edition comes free of charge."
"Licensing cost for the Enterprise edition comes out to be around 40,000 a year. There is also a Community edition, which is free. Some customers can go for the Community edition, but some of them require the Enterprise edition. Big companies go for the Enterprise edition, which comes with a lot of additional features such as a mobile app."
"The price is fair for what we are using the solution for."
"have installed the image of Bonita BPM on Amazon AWS and there is just one option to use and pay for."
"I am using the free version of Bonita."
"We are using the Community Version, which can be used free of charge."
"The Enterprise edition is very expensive."
