Centralized endpoint security has improved and supports hybrid work and BYOD policies
Regarding what I dislike about Microsoft Intune and its downsides, I would say that more Mac controls are needed because we have limited Mac and Linux control. When comparing controls and policies between Windows, Mac, and Linux, Windows has almost everything you can think of, while Mac and Linux have limited types of control. You cannot implement certain things on Mac and Linux that you can on Windows. The limited controls are a major issue. Additionally, if Microsoft could find a way to embed servers into Microsoft Intune, that would be beneficial. Microsoft Intune is not really designed for servers or Windows servers. It is more tailored towards Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. Windows servers are not fully supported. Enterprise organizations usually have both servers and endpoints, which are users' workstations. For servers, most people look for other solutions such as SCCM, which is Configuration Manager. However, SCCM is what Microsoft Intune is trying to replace. Both SCCM and Microsoft Intune belong to Microsoft. Microsoft is trying to transition organizations into Microsoft Intune, the native cloud solution. However, because this update is still in process, servers are not fully compatible with Microsoft Intune and cannot be managed by it. The current policy that has emerged from issues with clients is what they call co-management, which is relatively new, and I do not know if adoption is significant. Many legacy or older customers who have been using these products for decades still have SCCM. When it is time for them to manage their Windows devices, they use what is called cloud attach. Cloud attach is a term whereby your SCCM is connected to your Microsoft Intune. Most people do not know about it, but I have deployed it for several organizations. Cloud attach and co-management work together so that your device is in SCCM, but some policies are pushed from Microsoft Intune. It is like two different solutions working hand in hand. That is what they call co-management. Microsoft Intune does not bring all of your endpoint and security management tools into one place, which is the goal and how it should be. However, as I mentioned, servers are not included. If we talk about end users, Microsoft Intune does bring all your devices together. In a typical enterprise environment, you have end users with workstations, laptops, company-issued phones, and bring your own devices. You can create policies for all of these. However, for the backend, your servers do not have much coverage. Servers are not really covered by Microsoft Intune in that way.

Secure remote access has transformed global support and simplified cross-platform collaboration
BeyondTrust Remote Support has good features that are not available in other apps, including rebooting without disconnection and the ALT + CTRL + deletion function. It's easier for data transfer, and multiple people can join a session easily. I think BeyondTrust Remote Support could be improved by being a bit more user-friendly in terms of connecting for a user. I would add that the zoom function allows us to zoom, but you can't particularly move around once you have zoomed in. Additionally, sometimes a remote connection cannot be established for unknown reasons, even if the host machine is clearly online. I have noticed that BeyondTrust ABS can sometimes be challenging to navigate, but it's no more challenging than other competitors.

Easy to deploy with great security and responsive support
The security on offer is the most valuable aspect of the solution. It offers, for example, two-factor authentification. The remote connection across platforms is great. You can deploy it on anything, including Windows, Mac, iOS, your iPhone, et cetera. It offers multi-platform utility. This makes it great for enterprise. Users can use it for PAM access as well. The feature of Devolutions that has improved our customer's efficiency the most is probably the security side. It's gotten a lot tighter. Authentication and secure connections are helpful. They use encryption between them, which is just standard for them. The company has so many regulatory controls that they must ensure their security is very tight. There's a lot of potential cybercrime around casinos, and this solution ensures they are well-protected. Devolutions is a great product that can be safely used between China, Australia, or the Philippines, and it remains a good, safe product.

Quotes from Members

"The solution is easy to use and it has good performance."
"One of the standout features of Intune is its seamless accessibility to work data, eliminating the need to be tied to an office or a desktop."
"The user experience of Microsoft Intune is quite good because there's not much disturbance in the background; it's just running in the background."
"Mobile device management is most valuable."
"Autopilot is the most valuable feature of Microsoft Intune."
"By using Microsoft Intune we can control which websites the users can go to and it provides a secure environment for our employees using their laptops that are having access from home. We have installed Intune to control the user's environment minimizing the chances of any hacking."
"We are able to be more effectively connected to computers and servers all over the world."
"Remote Support 16.2 introduced Web Interface for Representative Console.with same functions as Desktop Console."
"We rarely need support for anything, but when we do, they are on it and always helpful."
"Live chat enabled a new support channel into our service desk, integrating with our Service Management toolset."
"I would rate the product ten out of ten."
"This is the most stable product on the market."
"Bomgar has given us the ability to manage the majority of our calls from a remote location making response times quicker and more efficient."
"We like that it records the remote sessions, takes screenshots, and saves those sessions in the cloud, which is important for audit purposes and makes this solution stand out from the rest."
"The ability to have all the connection information in one location saves so much time from trying to manage the same information across different applications."
"By integrating all our connections previously spread across multiple locations, a lot of time has been saved."
"Makes me instantly more focused on resolving the issue rather than getting to the issue."
"Devolutions's team is constantly making improvements to their products. If you submit a feature request, they are usually quick to implement it."
"Allows us to configure limited access to resources with the security-based role feature (which we use for trainees and new employees)."
"Setup and installation was simple."
"Documentation per entry, good for device configs or important/special instructions."
""Inherited" function for credentials - Configure the desired credential at one (top) location, and use the Inherited function on all sub-connections that should use this credential."

Cons

"Microsoft Intune could be improved in several areas."
"Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft Intune is absolutely useless for protecting my environment."
"One of the areas for improvement would be troubleshooting and reporting."
"Issues such as Windows 32 app failures occur frequently, and detailed manual detection rules are often necessary."
"It is not very stable. Sometimes, it works instantly, and sometimes, something goes wrong, and you get stuck there."
"I would like the ability to install the agent on devices from suppliers, which would enable us to implement a zero-trust strategy for guest devices."
"However, in Microsoft Intune that is not possible because Microsoft releases it across the world as one data piece."
"An area for improvement is the absence of seamless integration, particularly with external dashboards."
"The representative client can be a little buggy sometimes, but overall it works consistently."
"I'd like to see some kind of voice communication feature. During a session, communication is on chat."
"The screen annotation tools could be expanded. I would like to see a text/typing annotation tool."
"When we first purchased Bomgar, the support blew me away. Over the last two or three years however, it dropped off."
"The Bomgar representative console could do with modernising."
"It could be more compatible with other applications. We had trouble with compatibility when it came to Entrust. This is because we had issues with Windows machines when we installed Entrust."
"I would like to be able to transfer files between sessions."
"This product has a lot of features that we do not currently use, so there may be some things that cause bloat and confusion."
"If there was a way to streamline the process, it would make it nice."
"The RDM client (.NET issue, actually) can stall or lock up while it clears communication threads to the server."
"Sometimes when updating, the install window is on top of the prompt to close the application."
"On complex setups, I actually needed to reach out to support to get it working correctly."
"Security roles could be improved, especially by enabling renaming of a role."
"Sometimes the manual inventory of some entries hangs, and RDM must be closed via task manager."
"The only complaint I have heard is there are too many updates. Each time there is an update (the app prompts to upgrade), it can be time consuming, especially when sometimes there are multiple updates per week."
"The filing system of connections is a little clunky, but is completely functional."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We spend a lot of money on Intune licensing, and some of our users have to be double licensed just because of how our dev and corporate environments are segmented."
"Consider the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite rather than choosing specific sub-components, e.g. only Microsoft Intune."
"If you're subscribing to Premium or E3, there are no additional costs for Intune, it's included."
"We don't get Intune as a separate module. Most of the time, we use it within an enterprise agreement like E3 or E5. Those licenses are at a good price, but what is annoying is that every single year they go higher."
"The price of Intune is included with the license for Office 365, so we don't have to pay anything extra for it."
"Existing E5 license holders for M365, Intune, and Azure, receive a free license."
"For organizations that are a Microsoft shop, the pricing is compelling."
"The price is reasonable, but they should lower it a bit to make it more competitive. It's cheaper than AirWatch and other products, but I still feel like Microsoft can make a base version or with Exchange online or a la carte only Intune version which will be useful. A customer who doesn't want to go full-fledged E3 or E5 can take out or consume an Intune solution only for their purpose, and we want to target that customer."
"I would like to order more licenses. This would allow us to support more end users concurrently."
"The solution is subscription-based and depends on the number of admin users."
"Although the upfront cost is a bit overwhelming, the appliance will pay for itself in less than two years."
"Bomgar has a very fair pricing structure."
"I highly recommend using the tech team properly trained by Bomgar. This will help the tool be more useful."
"We pay every year for the box, and there are no additional costs."
"It is expensive. Performance-wise, it is pretty good, but we're less happy with the cost. Its licensing is on a yearly basis. It is also on a per-technician basis. A certain number of concurrent technicians can log in and access all the features."
"The product maintenance and licensing costs are on the higher end, so I would carefully review how many licenses you need. The concurrent license model is helpful in this manner."
"Setup costs for most people is negligible."
"If you are a Microsoft MVP, VMware vExpert, Cisco Champion, etc., Devolutions offers a free Enterprise License."
"The Free Edition is completely free. You can try also the Enterprise Edition for 30 days for free."
