Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Helpful technical support, and performs well, but initial setup could be simplified
They are constantly improving the scalability of BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite. More collaborative features are being developed. I know they have integrations with a lot of other vendors and applications, and it's constantly growing. Our company has approximately 3,000 users. I would say we have ten people for actual administrative roles with Blackberry.

In terms of areas where they could improve, if they provided solutions for every OEM, similar to what every other MDM platform is doing, that would be beneficial. For example, products such as InTune and MobileIron have no limitations. They support both iOS devices and Android devices. However, Samsung Knox specifically targets Samsung devices only. If they develop a solution that supports everything, along with the selling of devices and the product, they could achieve more business. Samsung Knox does not require any maintenance on my end.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Overall, my user experience with Microsoft Intune has been great."
"Intune makes our organization more secure and flexible. We can onboard new employees faster and more securely. We are a governmental organization with strict regulations, and Intune helps us comply with those requirements."
"The ability to push applications on devices is valuable. You do not have to manually install applications one by one. If you like to use ten different applications, you do not have to manually go and download them one by one. Intune can compile a package for you, and then you can just push them from the admin center."
"Microsoft Tech Support is good, providing solid support."
"It is a very stable and scalable cloud-only solution."
"Microsoft integrated BitLocker and Active Directory into Intune, simplifying management."
"It's normally able to meet 100% expectations of our customers."
"The system itself is great."
"It keeps things secure, it can remotely wipe the container and it's fairly easy to use."
"The technical support for the solution is excellent."
"If a device is stolen, you have the power to remove all of the contents remotely. You can do this very quickly."
"We can access emails within the active sync."
"The most important feature is Blackberry Work, for sure, because that is where you have email."
"It was an improvement when we got the Tasks and the Notes as well as Connect for Skype For Business."
"The most important features would be instant messaging and the security that we get from the containerization."
"It has allowed us to manage many different mobile device platforms, like Windows 10, Android, Apple, and BlackBerry 10, all through a single pane of glass."
"Overall, I would rate the solution as a 10."
"Samsung Knox has good support for data protection, especially when using devices for profile installations, firmware updates, or configuration suites, as they are all data protected with a double layer of protection using our own MDM server alongside Samsung Knox services."
"The most valuable feature of Samsung Knox is the endpoint protection it offers. Users have the ability to perform a factory reset without the need for a hard reset, which is very beneficial."
"One portal for all the features and the remote support capability in Samsung Knox is highly valued. The enterprise editions and the free Knox Suite licenses for one year are also beneficial."
"Based on my experience and understanding, Samsung Knox is quite good, user-friendly, and top-notch."
"Samsung Knox has very seamless integration capabilities for deployment; we easily upload devices through the KME, Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment."
"It's a very good product that any organization can use to help manage their devices."
"Samsung Knox is essential because you can centrally manage all your devices, including Android devices, iPhones, and Windows devices, in one platform at an affordable price, improving your security with GPOs and different policies, which is crucial in these times when we need to secure all communications, software, and various components against hackers."

Cons

"An issue we have run into with Microsoft Endpoint Manager is that we cannot patch third-party products like Adobe and Chrome with it."
"The reporting and cost have room for improvement."
"One thing I would suggest is that servers are not getting managed through Microsoft Intune."
"I heard some pain points. The main thing is the learning curve. It took time to implement. It was not the best product starting out of the gate."
"In Microsoft Intune, there is significant slowness, and there needs to be more logs when we deploy software, parameters, or scripts to troubleshoot problems and errors in the interface, workstations, and Android devices."
"Its integration with Mac and Linux devices can be better. They should provide more features similar to Windows. We should be able to manage policies within Linux and Mac machines. If we can have more granular controls for these two operating systems, it will be really helpful."
"There should be more focus on mobile device security and integration."
"At this time, I do not have any areas for improvement. I have heard about some downtime, but I am not in the local IT team."
"The console needs improvement. It does not provide all the information that we are looking for as far as who has installed a certain product."
"One fault that BlackBerry has is its salesforce. Their direct salesforce department is changing its salespeople constantly. One client I had, over a period of about three years, went through four salespeople. That continuity is a problem, in terms of dealing with the customers."
"It's too difficult to manage ourselves. We have to get a third-party in to do that. The fact that it breaks on some end-users' devices is also a concern and just the frequency and complexity of upgrades is not ideal."
"It would be nice if there was an easier way for team members to get onboarded in regards to what they have to do on the device. There are some programs like Apple DEP and Samsung Knox. Unfortunately, with these programs, to get existing users onto them, you have to factory wipe your device. If it did not have the DEP capabilities, it would be nicer if it did not have so many steps to go through. That is our biggest complaint from team members. It has too many steps."
"I would like to see better integration with our AD. Instead of having to use Active Directory groups, we'd like to use Active Directory attributes instead. There is a lot of overhead in managing. Whereas, if we could key on something tied to HR, or some other feed indicating who they are or what role they have, and manage them that way, that would be much preferable than having to manage people with Active Directory groups. Because, if people move roles, then we have to make sure that we move them from one Active Directory group to another, which is hands-on, a lot of overhead."
"The newest features sometimes pop in very slowly."
"The installations on the device could be simpler. It is a good solution, and all the features are there. So, there isn't a lot to improve. I'm sure they already have their thought process on how to improve it."
"It would be ideal if there was something for communication with Microsoft tools like Teams or Skype for Business, or perhaps even with Zoom for conference calls."
"We faced multiple issues when pushing configuration profiles and policies through Samsung Knox. The students were cracking the entire system."
"The main drawback is that they need to expand this product beyond Samsung devices to include every device."
"Features like private DNS would be very useful if pushed through Knox Manage."
"The main drawback is that they need to expand this product beyond Samsung devices to include every device."
"Samsung Knox needs to expand customer features across all devices, not just Samsung devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Intune is available as an individual product, but it also comes with Office 365 Premium or an Enterprise license, and the price varies for each version."
"Previously the price was $4 per month per user. Now it's $2.25 per user per month."
"We spend a lot of money on Intune licensing, and some of our users have to be double licensed just because of how our dev and corporate environments are segmented."
"It is not a cheap solution. The price for a device when you start using it at a large scale can be improved. It is covered under our enterprise agreement. We pay once a year. I am not aware of any additional costs."
"Microsoft Intune is not cost-effective as a standalone product."
"The product is expensive."
"It is average. Some of the costs are quite high depending on what the customer currently uses, but overall, it is not bad. I would not say that I would not recommend Intune based on the cost. I definitely would, but they can definitely improve on the cost. So overall, its cost is not bad."
"We work in the charity sector, so a lot of our clients get Microsoft Premium licenses or Business Premium for free. They get ten licenses free, and a lot of our clients do not have more than ten staff members. They are getting the tool for free, so its cost is not an issue."
"For the number of licenses, I believe it was approximately $500,000 per year, or for three years."
"It was on a yearly support contract, and the licenses were perpetual. There was also the implementation cost and the support cost for the integrator."
"Sometimes, it is very hard to get an overview because there are so many different suites to find out what is the right thing for new customers."
"We currently pay by the year, but the licenses are calculated on a monthly basis."
"We are paying $200 annually. You also need to have a hardware server or a license for the server so there could be some additional fees added on to that."
"The licensing costs are paid on a yearly basis because we just renewed the license. If you have some big issue, they will also charge you."
"In my opinion, we're paying an awful lot for what we get, compared to other vendors. I don't deal with the pricing, but it does seem to be a bit pricey for the things that we get, especially, when you compare them to other vendors, such as VMware, Citrix, who have all bought up other players in this space. VMware offers AirWatch free as part of their packages."
"With the new licensing model, there seems to be a significant increase in cost, which makes it difficult to push forward and talk with the business."
