Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Helpful technical support, and performs well, but initial setup could be simplified
They are constantly improving the scalability of BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite. More collaborative features are being developed. I know they have integrations with a lot of other vendors and applications, and it's constantly growing. Our company has approximately 3,000 users. I would say we have ten people for actual administrative roles with Blackberry.

Bulk phone setup has become more efficient while content distribution remains manageable
The main benefit of IBM MaaS360 is phone control and rollout. I acquired it because I was onboarding 15 new people, and it was more efficient to manage 15 phones from a computer than to handle each phone individually. I was able to manage what apps people were downloading with IBM MaaS360, ensuring they had what they needed. I could monitor their downloads and remove applications if necessary.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Configuration profiles, remediation, scripts, and auto-pilot features are very good."
"The aspects I find most valuable are managing the data and applications, restricting users from installing any applications, and being able to wipe the data if a phone is misplaced or stolen."
"The feature of remotely wiping devices in Microsoft Intune is what I prefer the most."
"The mobile device management is very useful."
"The biggest benefit for me in Microsoft Intune is control; I can control my users and what they can do and enforce the policies that I want to enforce, and it is a great tool to control and put structure to take the organization to the place I want to take it."
"Microsoft Intune has never crashed for me; it always works without fail."
"Overall, I would rate Microsoft Intune as eight out of ten."
"With on-premises Active Directory, the main challenge was that we had no control when a user was working from home. We didn't know what exactly a user was doing and whether the AV was up to date or not. Intune provides better control of their machines."
"The security of the product is excellent."
"From my customers' standpoint, it's reasonably easy to get set up; it's just there, and it just works."
"If a device is stolen, you have the power to remove all of the contents remotely. You can do this very quickly."
"It allows me to be able to access my email when I do not necessarily have my computer with me, and I can also access my calendar when I am on public transport or outside of the office."
"My customers find that they don't have to worry about managing their VPN connections for their mobile users, because BlackBerry handles all of that, as opposed to if you're just using Office 365."
"It was a big improvement to activate applications with one authentication. That was a big plus for the user experience."
"It was an improvement when we got the Tasks and the Notes as well as Connect for Skype For Business."
"The main benefit is having email wherever you are and having access to your calendar wherever you are."
"The main benefit of IBM MaaS360 is phone control and rollout; I acquired it because I was onboarding 15 new people, and it was more efficient to manage 15 phones from a computer than to handle each phone individually."
"The most valuable feature is that it's comprehensive - it covers mobile devices and laptops in one package."
"It is a stable solution."
"It allows us to have an updated inventory of all the devices in real-time with the ability to add personalized information."
"My customers value the ability to control all their devices from a central point in IBM MaaS360."
"It can change policies based on geolocation or schedules."
"Every new device was configured manually, it used to require about 20 minutes of engineer attention, now it's about three minutes."
"The solution is quite stable."

Cons

"It would be great to see on-premises mailboxes and for the solution to have geofencing capabilities."
"The most significant challenge is reporting and monitoring. The reporting accuracy for deploying applications and all aspects of Intune needs to be improved."
"There can be some added features, such as an improved dashboard. Any new feature that could be a benefit to our customers would be good."
"There needs to be more support for Mac operating systems."
"There is room for improvement in the remediation and detection modules, which are currently about eighty percent fully functional."
"In terms of the admin experience, it is straightforward, but the Windows enrollment experience could be improved. Sometimes, for enrollment, we have to reset devices and re-enroll them. Just configuring Windows, Azure, or Active Directory doesn't enroll the devices. We need easy enrollment for Windows."
"There are differences in protecting the data on a mobile device and on iOS. When you protect the data on iOS, you protect the entire device."
"Intune has no remote control function for mobile phones to solve issues remotely for users."
"What I'm noticing now, and it feels like I took a step back, is that I have to zip logs again and upload them, and that takes a lot of time."
"The console needs improvement. It does not provide all the information that we are looking for as far as who has installed a certain product."
"More devices supported like iOS, Android, and API so it can support various platforms to enhance the experience."
"The application is consistent across devices, but the interface is not as robust as you would expect for an enterprise solution."
"The newest features sometimes pop in very slowly."
"I would like to see better integration with our AD. Instead of having to use Active Directory groups, we'd like to use Active Directory attributes instead. There is a lot of overhead in managing. Whereas, if we could key on something tied to HR, or some other feed indicating who they are or what role they have, and manage them that way, that would be much preferable than having to manage people with Active Directory groups. Because, if people move roles, then we have to make sure that we move them from one Active Directory group to another, which is hands-on, a lot of overhead."
"From the past to the present, before mobility location, we frequently required a restart."
"That is where it is a bit challenging for us, because there is a lot of value-add in the product with a lot of different features."
"Sometimes IBM MaaS360 seems buggy...The solution's technical support team is sometimes slow to respond and not competent enough."
"IBM MaaS360 can improve the location reporter. There is a 15-minute delay and this does not allow for any usefulness."
"Sometimes I would like to have local support because a company that provides 24/7 support means that the technical support staff are not always fluent English speakers."
"We opted to go with Microsoft Intune because it just seemed to be a more mature and comprehensive enterprise solution, whereas IBM MaaS360 didn't seem to have the necessary breadth to manage all of our equipment."
"The interface is clunky and the layout is a bit outdated. Also, I don't think MaaS360 has as many features as Intune. It doesn't integrate with Office as seamlessly as Intune does, which isn't surprising, given that Intune and Office are Microsoft products."
"However, if technical support was purely through IBM, the service is definitely lacking."
"The look needs to be updated and it could be simpler to use."
"We had a problem with Microsoft computers. If you downloaded emails on a Microsoft Windows Surface PC, that would also require a license. The Outlook application didn't look great for us on a PC."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune is reasonably priced for large organizations that already have Microsoft Enterprise licenses, but it is less affordable for smaller businesses."
"Pricing can be improved."
"It is cheap, but as compared to Google, it is costly. Google is cheaper, but quality-wise, Microsoft Intune is better."
"Previously the price was $4 per month per user. Now it's $2.25 per user per month."
"It is not expensive."
"Its price is in the medium range. It is acceptable because you're paying for the features. I am not aware of any additional costs."
"Most of our clients come to us with licensing already in place. On average, it costs $6 per device per month to add Intune to an Office 365 subscription, but I am not sure."
"It's reasonable. They're not giving it away, but it's reasonable."
"In my opinion, we're paying an awful lot for what we get, compared to other vendors. I don't deal with the pricing, but it does seem to be a bit pricey for the things that we get, especially, when you compare them to other vendors, such as VMware, Citrix, who have all bought up other players in this space. VMware offers AirWatch free as part of their packages."
"We currently pay by the year, but the licenses are calculated on a monthly basis."
"For the number of licenses, I believe it was approximately $500,000 per year, or for three years."
"We pay about $6 a year for the solution. There are no extra costs on top of that. You save a lot of money when you use this product."
"With the new licensing model, there seems to be a significant increase in cost, which makes it difficult to push forward and talk with the business."
"We are paying $200 annually. You also need to have a hardware server or a license for the server so there could be some additional fees added on to that."
"Sometimes, it is very hard to get an overview because there are so many different suites to find out what is the right thing for new customers."
"It was on a yearly support contract, and the licenses were perpetual. There was also the implementation cost and the support cost for the integrator."
"IBM products are expensive compared to the tools offered by its competitors. IBM MaaS360 is an expensive tool."
"The licensing structure is broken down into levels, each with different functionalities available. Depending on your license, there may be additional fees for extra features."
"Fees are monthly and it's approximately $8 per user."
"It requires zero investment in infrastructure since it is 100% cloud."
"MaaS360 is priced at a balance. It is not as expensive as AirWatch or Jamf and is not a cheap solution like a few of the local products."
"I rate IBM MaaS360’s pricing a six out of ten."
"I feel the pricing to be very high."
"I rate IBM MaaS360's pricing a six out of ten."
