Centralized endpoint security has improved and supports hybrid work and BYOD policies
Regarding what I dislike about Microsoft Intune and its downsides, I would say that more Mac controls are needed because we have limited Mac and Linux control. When comparing controls and policies between Windows, Mac, and Linux, Windows has almost everything you can think of, while Mac and Linux have limited types of control. You cannot implement certain things on Mac and Linux that you can on Windows. The limited controls are a major issue. Additionally, if Microsoft could find a way to embed servers into Microsoft Intune, that would be beneficial. Microsoft Intune is not really designed for servers or Windows servers. It is more tailored towards Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. Windows servers are not fully supported. Enterprise organizations usually have both servers and endpoints, which are users' workstations. For servers, most people look for other solutions such as SCCM, which is Configuration Manager. However, SCCM is what Microsoft Intune is trying to replace. Both SCCM and Microsoft Intune belong to Microsoft. Microsoft is trying to transition organizations into Microsoft Intune, the native cloud solution. However, because this update is still in process, servers are not fully compatible with Microsoft Intune and cannot be managed by it. The current policy that has emerged from issues with clients is what they call co-management, which is relatively new, and I do not know if adoption is significant. Many legacy or older customers who have been using these products for decades still have SCCM. When it is time for them to manage their Windows devices, they use what is called cloud attach. Cloud attach is a term whereby your SCCM is connected to your Microsoft Intune. Most people do not know about it, but I have deployed it for several organizations. Cloud attach and co-management work together so that your device is in SCCM, but some policies are pushed from Microsoft Intune. It is like two different solutions working hand in hand. That is what they call co-management. Microsoft Intune does not bring all of your endpoint and security management tools into one place, which is the goal and how it should be. However, as I mentioned, servers are not included. If we talk about end users, Microsoft Intune does bring all your devices together. In a typical enterprise environment, you have end users with workstations, laptops, company-issued phones, and bring your own devices. You can create policies for all of these. However, for the backend, your servers do not have much coverage. Servers are not really covered by Microsoft Intune in that way.

Centralized device control has strengthened compliance and continuously improves risk visibility
The packaging of the solution or the offering of Hexnode UEM could be improved or enhanced, because one package does not fit all. Hexnode UEM should be flexible in its solution offering. Currently, they only have around three types of licenses or packages, and whether you use the solution or the features or not, they are already included in the suite. Some products offer an a la carte solution, so in order to compete with those products, Hexnode UEM should consider repackaging the solution with respect to the region where it is being offered. The solution offered to India might not be optimal if it is offered to the Philippines or a different country, so the offering should be on a country-by-country basis or a regional basis.

Centralized device control has improved security and streamlined daily management tasks
The best features IBM MaaS360 offers include centralized device management, policy enforcement, compliance tracking, and remote device actions. These features make managing and securing endpoints much more efficient. Another feature I appreciate about IBM MaaS360 is the visibility it provides. Being able to view device status, compliance, and security information from one console makes day-to-day management much easier. IBM MaaS360 has positively impacted my organization by improving efficiency and security across the organization. We can manage devices more efficiently, maintain compliance, and resolve issues faster. We save time for both IT teams and end users. The AI outputs from IBM MaaS360 have been reliable in our experience. They provide useful insights and recommendations that help with device management and security monitoring. Though we still review important findings before taking action.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have used conditional access policies to prevent users from copying internal resources or internal data to external devices, which has helped protect our organizations from being compromised."
"Remote control is the feature I like the most, as I can take control of devices so that we can work hands-on and create access with access restrictions."
"The feature I find most valuable in Microsoft Intune is being able to configure policies and push them directly to mobile phones."
"This is a great solution for anyone wanting a modern endpoint device management solution."
"The management control feature is the most valuable."
"The product helps organizations have a model or place to allow users to access the corporate resources from any device that the user wants and in a highly secured way."
"We are a Microsoft 365 E5 customer and the product promises the capabilities that we need and is available without additional cost."
"There are many features in Microsoft Intune. For personal mobile devices, MDM is what I most prefer."
"The agility is impressive, and it's simple to manage."
"It's very easy to use."
"Hexnode UEM has in-depth support of device operating systems, which is one of the most common requirements."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that we can find a lost device or shut the device down and wipe it, which is good for HIPAA."
"Maas360 uses distribution groups to deploy apps, which makes it a bit easier than, for example, Intune."
"The solution is quite stable."
"MaaS360 helped us to have the console ready in less than 10 minutes and start enrolling devices immediately."
"My customers value the ability to control all their devices from a central point in IBM MaaS360."
"All features that we have deployed are useful. We do access office emails on our smartphones, and we have complete sync with Active Directory. Our calendar also gets synced in the MaaS360 application. We also ensure that the data from these official applications is not being misused by any of the employees. We have disabled cut, copy, paste, and all such features. It ensures that all the official data that our employees have on their smartphones is secure. Security is the paramount feature that we value in this product."
"We are very pleased with the Maas360 product and plan to continue use as our company grows."
"We have had practically no issues with MaaS360 that haven't started from our end first."

Cons

"In the past, I raised some tickets for the enhancement feature, which was missing in Intune."
"There could be some kind of feature that supports a workgroup environment or a separate environment without the Entra ID."
"There is room for improvement in integrating additional features such as Purview and SharePoint activities into Intune."
"What I'd like to see in their next upgrade is more in the context of today's security policies and what's needed, for them to keep adding features based on that, for example boosting security, so they can keep on adding security features, and that is the best they can do."
"The initial setup of Microsoft Intune could be more simplified, but apart from this, everything is outstanding and performs well as per our expectations."
"An issue we have run into with Microsoft Endpoint Manager is that we cannot patch third-party products like Adobe and Chrome with it."
"When somebody has a customized application or their own company's application, we cannot deploy that application."
"The reports aren't complete, and it's not easy to build custom reports. For example, Windows Autopilot isn't working well in cases where the computers don't have a good internet connection. Then the option is not good enough."
"The support is only available in English right now, which is a bit of a problem for my users since they would prefer Spanish support."
"The packaging of the solution or the offering of Hexnode UEM could be improved or enhanced, because one package does not fit all."
"IBM support has not been that helpful. I have contacted chat support but they could not give a useful answer."
"Sometimes I would like to have local support because a company that provides 24/7 support means that the technical support staff are not always fluent English speakers."
"I would rate IBM MaaS360's stability as seven out of ten, though I don't use it extensively."
"User interface is basic and not very intuitive."
"When we have MaaS360 installed on smartphones, it consumes the battery of the device at a much faster pace. This is one of the areas of improvement that I would like to highlight. We have also observed that in the contact list, a lot of duplication is happening. A single contact is duplicated three or four times, which also consumes more memory resources. If they can work on improving it for these aspects, it will have a more positive impact not only on the way the application is being consumed by the user but also on user satisfaction. A lot of new features are being deployed or rolled out by companies that are competitors of IBM MaaS360. IBM will have to ensure that all those features are on board so that we have a complete suite of features in the platform, rather than deploying multiple diverse solutions to cater to the requirements of our customers."
"IBM MaaS360’s threat management feature needs improvement. It could identify even more malicious attacks."
"IBM MaaS360 can improve the information provided for DLP control. Some of our customers would benefit from this."
"Possibly a notification if a device is wiped and no longer has the security policy on the phone. The product can also install the certificates on the phone in a 'smoother' way."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is competitive, but it is not cheap."
"Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
"While I don't have access to high-level financial information, I believe we have achieved lower costs with this implementation."
"The pricing is good because customers are not complaining about it."
"With one user base license, we can use Intune for up to five devices. However, with Soti MobiControl, each license is tied to a single device, meaning one license is dedicated to one device only."
"We don't pay for Intune because it is bundled with the premium subscription to Office 365. It includes Intune and Defender. I don't have to buy two extra products to manage my enterprise."
"Microsoft Intune is more expensive than other solutions, but it offers a wider range of features and control."
"Intune is included with our F3 and E5 licenses."
Information not available
"I rate IBM MaaS360’s pricing a six out of ten."
"Price is something for which we are always under pressure. If we have to look at the MaaS deployment, the price definitely has to come down. This is clearly one of the areas that we will have to work on, not only as a provider to our customers but also as a consumer of this service."
"Fees are monthly and it's approximately $8 per user."
"The licensing structure is broken down into levels, each with different functionalities available. Depending on your license, there may be additional fees for extra features."
"I feel the pricing to be very high."
"There are other solutions cheaper than IBM MaaS360, such as Microsoft Intune."
"The solution is cost-effective."
"The solution is expensive."
