Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

An affordable solution to control BlackBerry applications but has latency issues
The solution is complicated for new users. There are a lot of buttons on the first page. It can be very confusing if you’re not aware of the terms they use. For example, a button labelled ‘edit device’ doesn't explain exactly what it does or how to use it. Setup is difficult, time-consuming, and a lot of procedures are involved. There are latency issues on the application.

Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Intune's most valuable features are its device management capabilities, particularly its centralized integration with other Microsoft stack components."
"I believe that the solution is actually in Gartner's top quadrant at the moment for mobile device management."
"I can see that the patch management process is much improved with the bundled patch management option available in Microsoft Intune compared to the KPI deployment required by the other deployment solutions."
"Microsoft Intune's autopilot has been nice to have."
"Microsoft Intune is best for Windows devices and security in Office 365 and Microsoft-related enterprise environments. It's a nice platform for endpoint management."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Intune is that it is more of a one-stop shop, providing an easier experience."
"Mobile device management is most valuable."
"One of the most valuable aspects of Microsoft Intune is its seamless integration with Azure Active Directory, offering capabilities akin to Group Policy Objects."
"The solution has a lot of features, such as adding different applications and devices to one platform. This allowed us to manage many devices and applications from a single platform."
"The most valuable features in VMware Identity Manager for me are the control groups and rules."
"We used to have a system before, Mac OS Open Directory server and this open directory became obsolete because Apple decided to stop the enterprise market, so there was no other alternative for us to use. We chose this to replace the open directory and we found that it has many more features than the previous solution. We totally rely on it right now to manage all the devices on campus."
"The antivirus and the ability to push security policies down to the device are key features."
"The feature with the highest rating for me is its employee management. I can also praise how versatile it is in terms of operating systems. It has good support for multiple operating systems and can easily manage them all. Not just that, but it can also support any kind of tool that can be run on all these operating systems."
"People who want to adopt this solution may be thinking about it from the end-user's perspective, but this solution is also very friendly for the people who manage it. It's administration-friendly."
"It was easy to use."
"You can put all your applications on a mobile device, be it a phone or tablet. It is secure and easy to use. Because it is centrally managed, you don't have to do any configuration on the phone. I just got the phone and connected to the central applications. I just downloaded one thing and everything got rolled out. Email, calendar, and other things were deployed centrally. If you don't have AirWatch, you have to configure your phone manually. For example, you need to deploy and configure your email manually and then synchronize everything. It is much simpler when a mobile device is centrally managed."
"Its value is when you use it with a Workspace ONE UEM solution as it is part of the ecosystem for VMware Workspace ONE."

Cons

"It would be awesome if Microsoft opened their API so we could filter more properties. If we have to do anything outside of Intune that requires a third-party solution to talk back to it, we're very limited in what we can do."
"The solution could be improved by the opportunity to connect third-party application databases, such as Chocolatey or another setup store, to Intune."
"The reporting could be improved, as it's pretty poor compared to other products of this type."
"The reporting is subpar. That's the only issue we have with Intune. We use another solution for that purpose."
"Unfortunately, Intune’s management extension does not provide the same level of logging, and I lack the visibility in Intune that I had with SCCM."
"Each feature has a separate license, making logistics and cost management difficult if not strategically bundled together."
"Having a dedicated configuration server that assists in modifying the configuration service, and creating personalized structures, interfaces, and web services could enhance usability."
"When pushing anything from Microsoft Intune, the sync timing is 48 hours. While sometimes it takes 5 to 10 minutes, the official period given by Microsoft is within 48 hours, which can be time-consuming for policies, applications, or patches."
"The solution is complicated for new users. There are a lot of buttons on the first page. It can be very confusing if you’re not aware of the terms they use. For example, a button labelled ‘edit device’ doesn't explain exactly what it does or how to use it."
"AirWatch doesn't seem to empower IT admins to try new things or get creative with implementations."
"It's not accurate enough when it comes to sending items to end-users."
"I tried to use the tool on an encrypted disk, but it was inconvenient."
"I would like to see some integration with native Microsoft products such as Anti-value."
"it's very dependent on an active directory"
"The pricing could always be better."
"The database gets corrupted when used in the cluster. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."
"The license could be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The purchase of the product was handled by someone else."
"The cost of the license and the features are justified for myself as a technical person."
"I don't have any problem as far as cost is concerned. It is bundled with our license."
"Microsoft Intune is more expensive than other solutions, but it offers a wider range of features and control."
"Microsoft Intune is pretty reasonable. We have difficulty with Azure, which is probably why we have not put many assets in Azure. Everything we put there is very expensive."
"It is expensive. The cost depends on the license that we choose."
"There is a license needed to use the solution and we are on an annual license."
"It's reasonable. They're not giving it away, but it's reasonable."
